Toni Diana Robinson, 44, of Sylacauga, died Jan. 24, 2000 at her residence.
She is survived by one son, Chris Murphy of Sylacauga; two daughters, Melanie Murphy of Sylacauga, and Traci Robinson of Wilsonville; two sisters, Sandra Ferguson of Cook Springs, and Judy Gill of Sylacauga; two brothers, Michael Smith of Sylacauga, and Kenneth Smith of Oxford; her mother, Betty Smith of Sylacauga; five grandchildren, Jessica Murphy, Amber Murphy and Hannah Lyner, all of Sylacauga; Noah Oliver Murphy of Harpersville, and Jana Robinson of Wilsonville.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Alan Harvell officiating.
Burial was in Talladega Springs Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel directing.
JAMES DAVID "JAKE" RUSSELL
Hueytown resident
James David "Jake" Russell, 89, of Hueytown, died Jan. 29, 2000. He was a miner and a railroad switchman at Woodward Iron Company for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Smith Russell of Hueytown; children, James David Russell Jr. of Alabaster and Franklin Russell of Tuscaloosa; two grandchildren, Crystal Russell of Tuscaloosa and Cynthia Talley of Alabaster; one great-grandchild, Lauren Talley; a sister, Annie Belle Gawlik of Chicago; and a brother, Cebran Russell of Tuscaloosa.
Graveside services were held Feb. 1 at Highland Memorial Gardens, Rev. Wayne Crumpton officiating. Brown Service West Chapel directing the services.
KOURTNEY BROOKE TAYLOR

Kourtney Brooke Taylor, 5 months, died Jan. 22, 2000, at Providence Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
Taylor is survived by parents, Jennifer and Kevin Taylor of El Paso, Texas; grandparents, Kathy and Tommy Sanders of Harpersville, Freddie and Debbie Taylor of Vincent; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Taylor of Vincent, Evelyn Sanders of Harpersville, and Melba Cunard of Sylacauga; great-grandmother, Margaret Dyer of Georgia; aunts, Cheryl Brown (Mike) of Harpersville, and Michelle Taylor (Kenneth) of Vincent; uncles, Kraig Taylor and Kyle Taylor, both of Vincent; and cousins, Cody Brown, Hunter Fulten and Blake Flournoy.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, Childersburg Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Taylor officiating. Burial was in Revival Church Cemetery

CHARLES WESLEY VANCE
Calera resident
Charles Wesley Vance, 88, of Calera, died Jan. 27, 2000.
He is survived by his sons, Carl Vance and Charles Vance, both of Calera; four daughters, Myra Nichols of Birmingham, Christine Wilson and Lois Wilburn of Calera and Joyce Lumpkin of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 31 at Bolton Brown Chapel, Rev. James Nichols officiating.
Burial was in Dargin Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing the services.
RUBY FADRY SAMUELS WILLIAMS
Member of Wilsonville United Methodist Church
Ruby Fadry Samuels Williams, 88, died Jan. 22, 2000, in Lafayette, La. A native of Alabama, she spent most of her life in the areas of Rockford, Sylacauga, Childersburg and Wilsonville.
She was a switchboard operator and was retired from that positition at Sylacauga Hospital, now Coosa Valley Medical Center.
She was an active member of Wilsonville United Methodist Church for 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Lightfoot Williams; her parents, O.D. Samuels and the former Kate Smith; three brothers, Bennie Samuels, David Samuels and Lamar Samuels.
She is survived by her son, Robert Williams of Birmingham; a daughter, Nelmo Renoux of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren, Christine Huffman, Serge Renoux and Phillip Renoux; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reba Shaw and Josephine Samuels; and two brothers, Charles Samuels and Ralph Samuels.
Services were held Jan. 29 at Wilsonville United Methodist Church. Burial was in Green Hill Memorial Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

SADIE HELFER BAER
Member of Temple Beth-El
Sadie Helfer Baer, 83, of Calera, died March 7, 2000. A long-time Calera resident, she was a native of Rochester, N.Y. She grew up in Birmingham and was a graduate of Phillips High School. She was employed in Birmingham until her marriage in 1945 to long-time Calera businessman Lewis Baer, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Temple Beth-El and loved flowers, classical music and china.
She is survived by two sons, Phillip Baer and wife, Elizabeth, of Alabaster and Howard Baer of Calera; three sisters, Bessie Niven of Birmingham, Evelyn Rose of Silver Springs, Md. and Esther Helfer of Jacksonville, Fla.; special housekeeper and care-giver, Bertha Johnson; special friend, Lu Carden.
Graveside services were held March 9 at Elmwood Cemetery, John's Ridout directing.
RALPH W. BELL
Former coach at Shelby County High School
Ralph W. Bell, 69, of Pell City, died March 11, 2000. A Naval veteran of the
Korean War, he was a graduate of Pell City High School and Jacksonville State University. He was the former football coach at Saks High School, Munford High School, Shelby County High School, Ashville High School and Durhan Junior High School. He was the 2A State Coach of the year in 1976.
He was also the grandson of Henry Luster, founder of Luster Memorial.
He is survived by his wife, Gussie Bell of Pell City; sons, Skip Bell and wife, Sandy, of Uriah, Scott Bell and wife, Diane, of Pell City, Samm Bell and Steve Bell of Pell City; a sister, Lavelle Lee of Cropwell; brother, Jerry Bell of Munford; and four grandchildren.
Services were held March 13 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Rev. Joe Lynn Adams and Rev. Sonny Champion officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Chapel Hill Funeral Home directing.
HUBERT CLECKLER
Member of Sylavon Baptist Church
Hubert Cleckler, 87, of Sylacauga, died March 3, 2000 at Talladega Health Care Center in Talladega.
He was retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation and was a member of Sylavon Baptist Church.
Cleckler is survived by his wife, Ruby D. Cleckler of Sylacauga; one son, Jerry Cleckler of Oxford; three daughters, Ellie Logan of Harpersville, Bobbie Taylor of Childersburg, and Ann Davis of Talladega; one step-son, Nolan Parker of Sylacauga; one step-daughter, Margaret Edmondson of Sylacauga; two sisters, Paralee Edwards of Clanton, and Lettie Hattaway Smith of Sylacauga; and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 5 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel with the Rev. Kirby Cannon, the Rev. Ralph Green and the Rev. Dennis Elliott officiating.
Burial was in Evergeen Memorial Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel directing.
MARY ELLEN GENTRY
Member of Calera Assembly of God
Mary Ellen Gentry, 72, of Pea Ridge, died March 6, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Calera Assembly of God. She was also active in the Retired Volunteer Seniors Program of Shelby County.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Gentry of Huntsville, Ed Gentry of Pelham, Bill Motley of Corner and Harold Gentry of Mobile; two sisters, Kathleen Grubbs of Dothan and Hazel Vernon of Alabaster; a brother, Jeff Boothe of Maylene; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 9 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. B.B. Alexander officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
ANNE GLAVAN
Director of Food Services and Nutrition at
Carraway Methodist Medical Center
Anne Glavan, 52, of North Shelby, died March 10, 2000. A graduate of Ohio State University, she was director of Food Services and Nutrition at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, Girls 1984 O.D.P. Administrator and was active in numerous school directors with her daughters.
She is survived by her husband, Don Glavan; daughters, Amy Marie Glavan of Michelle Glavan, both of North Shelby; father, William Taylor Sr. of Gahanna, Ohio; brother, William Taylor Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; and a sister, Susan Jordan of Eltoro, Ca.
Services were held March 14 at Southern Heritage Chapel. Burial was in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Southern Heritage directing.
