Onzell W. Thomas, 64, of Albany, Ga., died May 15, 2000.

She is survived by her sons, Jerome Thomas, Jeff Thomas and Danny Thomas; daughters, Wanda Cook and Sandra Kersey; a sister, Estelle Channell; and eight grandchildren.

Services were held May 18 at Hall and Hall Chapel, Rev. Glenn Robinson and Rev. John Garland officiating.

Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Hall and Hall Funeral Home directing.

WILLIAM ERSKINE WALLACE

Retired television technician

William Erskine Wallace, 81 of Pelham, died May 25, 2000. He was a retired television technician with 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Wallace of Pelham; son and daughter-in-law, John William Wallace and wife, Debra, of Jemison; two sisters, Billie Jean Lee of Georgia and Joan Burgess of Birmingham; and a grandson, Christopher William Wallace.

Graveside services were held May 27 at Jefferson Memorial South. Rockco Funeral Home directed the services.

EDWARD JOSEPH ZAHUMENSKY

Member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church

Edward Jospeh Zahumensky, 74, of Montevallo, died May 27, 2000. He was a retired from Westinghouse as an electrical engineer and was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Zahumensky of Montevallo; three daughters, Cathy Gentry of Birmingham, Susan Green of Atlanta, Ga. and Marsha Zahumensky of Alabaster; a sister, Mary Peschel of Brookfield, Wisc.; and six grandchildren.

Services were held May 30 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Father Ray Remke and Father Phil O'Kennedy officiating.

Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco Funeral Home directing the services.

JEREMIAH CODY BRASHER

Student at Vincent High School

Jeremiah Cody Brasher, 17, of Harpersville, died June 7, 2000. He was a student at Vincent High School.

He is survived by his father, Mark Brasher of Sterrett; mother, Kathy Brasher; two sisters, Molly Brasher and Abbey Brasher; a brother, Zebulon Brasher, all of Harpersville; grandparents, R.E. and Billie Earl Brasher of Sterrett, Bob and Betty Bloom of Vincent and Johnny and Betty Davis of Vandiver. Services were held June 9 at Harpersville Methodist Church, Rev. Donald LeBalle, Rev. Nancy Cole, Rev. Larry Knedlick and Rev. Jerry Baker officiating. Burial was in Beulah Baptist Church, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

WAYNE BUTLER

Vincent Police Chief

Wayne Butler, 57, of Vincent, died June 4, 2000. He served as Vincent's Police Chief for six years and on the Vincent Police Department for 26 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pell City.

He is survived by his wife, Bertie Butler; six children; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; mother, Lillian Butler; a brother, Paul Butler; two sisters, Linda Thompson, all of Harpersville and Freda Ives of Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held June 8 at Vincent Assembly of God, Rev. Lon Cullen officiating. Burial will be in Vincent Cemetery, Bolton-Brown directing.

LORENE COST BYRD

Calera resident

Lorene Cost Byrd, 81, of Calera, died June 12, 2000. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmers Byrd; a sister, Leona C. Smith; a brother, J.T. Cost; her father, Walter Cost; and her mother, Ethel Cost.

She is survived by her sisters, Delyn Cost of Calera and Dollie Peters of Calera; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held June 13, Rev. John Spain officiating. Burial was in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison, Martin Funeral Home directing.

LEWIS HAMILTON COSPER

Veteran of World War II

Lewis Hamilton Cosper, 85, of Wilsonville, died June 5, 2000. A member of Wilsonville Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon and Sunday School teacher, he was also a veteran of World War II, 476 AAA BN.

He was retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation as assistant fire chief.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha Cosper; two daughters, Rosemary Liveoak and Jane Kennedy, both of Wilsonville; grandchildren, Joanne Kennedy Carter of Pelham and Cristin Michell Liveoak of Wilsonville; great-granddaughter, Lauren Carter of Pelham; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services were held June 7 at Pinelawn Gardens, Rev. Frank Sims and Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Bolton-Brown directed the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to American Heart Association of Birmingham and Wilsonville Baptist Church's Business Fund.

LARRY JOHNSON

Sterrett resident

Larry Johnson, 51, of Sterrett, died June 4, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson of Sterrett; two daughters, Patricia Mae Johnson of Birmingham and Arla Hodgens of Chelsea; two sons, Larry Johnson Jr. of Calera and Roger Johnson of Shelbby; six grandchildren; mother, Loretta Diffy of Empire; sister, Debra McLeney of Gardendale; and two brothers, Gary Johnson and Jeff Johnson of Empire.

Services June 7 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Marlin Hodgens officiating. Burial was in adjoining Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

ELLEN ERNESTINE MELTON MILLER

Calera resident

Ellen Ernestine Melton Miller, 83, of Calera, died June 10, 2000. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by daughters, Sara Turnbloom of Calera, Karen Stone of West Blocton and Betty Miller of Los Angeles, Calif.; sons, Wayne Miller of Montevallo, Jerry Miller of Clanton, Jim Miller of Clanton and Glenn Miller of Hartselle; sisters, Lucille Johnson of Booneville, Miss., Edith Hudleston of Booneville, Miss., and Stella Short of Tupelo, Miss; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held June 12 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Griffin and Rev. Frank Nelson officiating. Burial was in Thorsby Memory Gardens, Martin Funeral Home Inc. directing.

TAKINO RENAE STOUDMIRE

Alabaster resident

Takino Renae Stoudmire, 24, of Alabster, died June 7, 2000.

She is survived by her parents, Annie Miller and Hobie Miller; one brother, Louie Stoudmire; three sisters, Shannon Stoudmire, RhuShunda Stoudmire and Neko Stoudmire; and a host of other relatives.

Services were held June 10 at Liberty Baptist Church, Rev. Demetria Rosco officiating. Burial was in Montevallo Cemetery, Good Shepherd Funeral Home directing.

JAMES DONALD VICKERS

Vietnam veteran

James Donald Vickers, 66, of Vandiver, died June 11, 2000. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and Brookwood Medical Center Security. He also was a Vietnam veteran. He was of the Baptist Faith, and his home church was Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Leota Cooper Vickers and A.B. Vickers, formerly of Vandiver. He is survived by his wife, Lois Juanita Vickers; a son, James Michael Vickers of Vandiver; a stepson, Herbert L. Canada II of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Juanita Howard of Chelsea, Shirley Lynn of Vandiver and Zenobia Howard of Vandiver; a brother, Jerry Vickers of Vandiver; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held June 13 at Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Vandiver. Burial was in Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside service, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.
