Eddie Royce Hethcox, 30, of Wilsonville, died July 15, 2000.

He is survived by a daughter, Brittany Hethcox; and a son, Chris Hethcox, both of Harpersville; parents, Royce and Mary Hethcox of Wilsonville; three sisters, Melanie Fowler of Vincent, Sherry Amberson of Westover and Beth Hethcox of Westover; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held July 16 at Bolton Chapel. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

FLORA B. JONES

Shelby resident

Flora B. Jones, 88, of Shelby, died July 9, 2000.

She is survived by a son, Billy Jones of Shelby; four daughters, Earline Davis of Shelby, Blonnie Flinn of Mt. Olive, Sarah Gould of Columbiana and Pattie Ellison of Clanton; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 11 at Bolton-Brown Chapel, Rev. Kenneth Churchill and Rev. Frank Nelson officiating. Burial was in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

MARVIN LAWLEY

Member of Shiloh Baptist Church

Marvin Lawley, 87, of Helena, died July 9, 2000. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and served as a miner and mine foreman for 40 years. He later operated a service station in Helena for 20 years. He was a member of U.M.W.A. District 20.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Griffin and husband, Ed, of Pelham and Marva Holsomback of Alabaster; a son, Donald Wayne Lawley of Helena; two sisters, George Mae Sullivan and Faye Thompson, both of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, J.D. Lawley of Pensacola, Fla. and Clyde Lawley of Jemison; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 12 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Pat Minshew officiating. Burial was in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

VIOLET B. LEBRUN

Jemison resident

Violet B. LeBrun, 80, of Jemison, died July 12, 2000. She was born in Louisiana on Aug. 29, 1919.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Reeces of Jemison; two sons, Kenneth Aristis LeBrun of Sulphur, La. and Olton Joseph LeBrun of Jemison; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.

Charter Funeral Home directed the services.

EMILY SHAE PHILLIPS AND ABBEY CHEYENNE PHILLIPS

Infants

Emily Shae and Abbey Cheyenne Phillips, infants, died July 15, 2000.

They are survived by their parents, Kevin and Tracey Phillips of Wilsonville; sisters, Tiffany Allred Phillips of Wilsonville and Lacey Nichole Phillips of Helena; a brother, Chase Phillips of Wilsonville; and grandparents, Dennis and Rita Allred of Wilsonville and Lou Ann Willis of Calera.

Graveside services were held July 17 at Cane Creek Cemetery in Clanton, Martin Funeral Home directing.

NORMAN SCHULTZ

Montevallo resident

Norman Schultz, 69, of Montevallo, died July 6, 2000.

He is survived by several cousins. Graveside services were held July 11 at Shelby Memory Gardens, Shelby Memory Funeral Home directing.

REX EUGENE SELLERS

Member of Canaan Baptist Church

Rex Eugene Sellers, 45, of Montevallo, died July 8, 2000. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Kay O'Dell and father, Herbert Eugene Sellers.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Stinnett Sellers of Montevallo; two sons, Shawn Sellers of Chalkville and Christopher Sellers of Birmingham; his mother, Marvarine Sellers of Maylene; two sisters, Paddy Hicks of Springville and Glenda Jordan of McCalla; and grandfather, E.P. Sellers of Bessemer.

Services were held July 11 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Charles Lee officiating.

Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing the service.

MARK CHRISTOPHER SPEER

Columbiana

Mark Christopher Speer, 16, of Columbiana, died July 9, 2000. He was a junior at Shelby County High School and a member of the football team. He was a member of Columbiana United Methodist Church, FCA and the First Priority Club. And he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ocie Speer Jr. and Ronald Loudon.

He is survived by his parents, Ocie and Joyce Speer of Columbiana; grandparents, Edna and Bill Smith of Shelby and Jean Loudon of Centerpoint; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Services were held July 12 at Columbiana United Methodist Church, Rev. Bob Alford officiating. Burial was in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton Brown Service directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelby County High School Athletic Booster Club, c/o Lori Riley, 4819 Highway 61, Columbiana, Ala. 35051.

HERMAN GERALD BROGDEN

Retired from Shelby County Highway Department

Herman Gerald Brogden, 67, of Calera, died July 2, 2000. He is retired from Shelby County Highway Department.

He is survived by his wife, Allene Isbell Brogden of Calera; two daughters, Cathy Davis of Calera and Kelly Cantanio of Reno, Ne.; three sons, John Brogden of Birmingham, Milton Brogden of Calera and Timmy Brogden of Anaheim, Ca.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Bray of Columbiana and Shirell Lynn Shaw of Wilsonville; and three brothers, James Brogden of Vestavia, Norman Brogden of Clanton and Howard Brogden of Pelham.

Services were held July 3 at Bolton-Brown Chapel, Rev. Donald Talley officiating. Burial was in Wooten Chapel Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

KYSER LEE CAMPBELL

Maplesville resident

Kyser Lee Campbell, 80, of Maplesville, died June 23, 2000.

He is survived by his children, Mose, Elvis, Vivian, James, Darriel, Martha, Wyman, Bonnie and Mary; 26 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Services were held July 1 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Good Shepherd Funeral Home directing.

KERMIT JAMES CATES

World War II veteran

Kermit James Cates, 76, of Birmingham, died June 30, 2000.

A native of Florida, he was born Dec. 23, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Cates. He served in the Army in World War II and was a supervisor with Key West Florida Parks and Recreation Center until moving to Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bracewell Cates; sons, John Bracewell of Birmingham and Gary Bracewell of Fayetteville, Tenn.; daughters, Leslie Gilmore and husband, Mickey, of Birmingham and Dona Miller and husband, Denny, of Fort Smith, Ark.; a brother, Jack Cates; a sister, Thelma Cates, both of Key West, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.

Private services were held June 30 at Charter Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Selma.
