M. L. Mott
M.L. Mott, 85, a retired woodsman for Woodrow Reynolds & Son, died Sept. 20, 2006 at Washington County Nursing Home. He was a native and resident of Millry and a member of Reynolds Holiness Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Tami Mott of Clara, Miss. and Betty Mott of Millry; grandchild, Meredith Motes of Millry; two great-grandchildren, Trac McManus of Clara and Matthew Motes of Millry.
The funeral service was Sept. 22 at Reynolds Holiness Church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom directing.
Aaron Franklin Tanner Jr.
Aaron Franklin Tanner Jr. a native of Coffee County, Ga. and a resident of Birmingham, died Sept. 19, 2006 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham at the age of 87. He was a clothing salesman for Ellis Clothing in Atlanta, Ga. and a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church in Douglas, Ga. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his former wife, Maggie Ruth Tanner of Coffeeville; son, Aaron Frank Tanner II of Saraland; two daughters, Kathy Tanner Steerman of Norfolk, Va. and Barbara Tanner Williams of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Christopher, Seth and Tanner Williams.
The graveside service was Sept. 22 at the Coffeeville Cemetery
with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
Pearlie Mae Boykin
Pearlie Mae Boykin, 94, a native of Pine Hill and a resident of Citronelle, died Sept. 23, 2006 at Citronelle Convalescent Center. She was a member of St. Union Baptist Church in Leroy where she participated in the missionary society. She was a retired domestic.
She is survived by god-daughter, Bernice (William) Spencer of Eight Mile; three devoted nieces, Emma (J.C.) Simon of Leroy, Dixie Taylor of St. Stephens and Nancy Howell of Jackson; devoted friend, Victoria Walker of Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 30, 2 p.m. at St. Union Baptist Church in Leroy with the Rev. Richmond Chaney, pastor, officiating. Viewing will be on Friday at Andrews Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. A second viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery
in St. Stephens.
William O. Edge
William O. Edge, 86, a native of Fulton and resident of Grove Hill, died Oct. 3, 2006 at a local hospital. He was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church where he served as deacon. A retired salesman for Alabama Institutional Foods, he was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Grove Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Trula "Trudy" V. Edge of Grove Hill; son, Ward (Esther) Edge of Grove Hill; daughter, Brenda (David) Coleman of Jackson; brother, Larson Edge of Mobile; sister, Thelma Pugh of Grove Hill; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 5 (today), 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 in the Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill with the Revs. Don Newton and Johnnie Gillis officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.
Pallbearers are Larry Edge, Billy Edge, Raymond Pugh, Terry Pugh, Rodger Pugh and John Jones.
Thelma Johnson Pullom
Thelma Johnson Pullom, born Sept. 3, 1913 in the Ebenezer community, died Sept. 26, 2006 at Jackson Medical Center at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents Annanias Johnson and Elmira Carriesanda Brown Johnson. A resident of Jackson, she united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church as a child and later with St. Union Baptist Church under watch care. At St. Union, she sang in the Senior Choir and was a member of the Missionary Circle No. 3. She was a retired cook.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Susie) Lewis Malone of Jackson; brother, Agee Johnson of Jackson; three grandchildren, Detrick, Avis and Phillip and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service was Oct. 2 at St. Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. James M. Howard, pastor and eulogist. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery

Nathan V. Overstreet Jr.
Nathan V. Overstreet Jr., 71, a native of Walker Springs and a resident of Jackson, died Oct. 3, 2006 at his home. He was retired on disability as a painter with Local 779 for the last 27 years due to a fall on a job location. He was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Overstreet of Jackson; three brothers, Willard Overstreet of Newport, Tenn., Wayne Overstreet of Jackson and Herman Overstreet of Tuscaloosa; sister, Laverne O. Whitehead of Foley and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was Oct. 5 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Al Crawford officiating. Interment was in the Kelley Cemetery
in Thomasville.
Dollie Mae Sheffield
Dollie Mae Sheffield, 83, a homemaker and member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, died Oct. 4, 2006 at a medical facility in Mobile.
She is survived by a son, Robert A. Sheffield Jr. of Grove Hill; daughter, Dollie Jeane Anderson of Jackson; two sisters, Alice DeWitt of Orange Grove, Miss. and Margie Pledger of Jackson; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment was on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson with the Revs. Mike Maloy and William Allison, officiating and Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
Lt. Colonel George A. Bode
Lt. Colonel George A. Bode, retired veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., died Sept. 30, 2006 in Lakeland, Fla. at the age of 57. He was a native of New Brunswick, N.J. and a resident of Orange Beach.
Lt. Col. Bode was an attorney at law who served as a judge advocate, logistics officer and intelligence officer with the 3rd Marine Division, USMC, Okinawa, Japan; 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, USMCR, and 4th Marine Division, USMCR, New Orleans, La. and the 4th ANGLICO, West Palm, Fla.
He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers Louisiana Engineering Society, a member of the Rotary Clubs of New Orleans, La. and Lakeland and the Rotary Club Group Exchange to Uruguay in 1996, and a member of the board of directors with the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tillie Sincky Bode.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Beech Bode of Orange Beach; father, Aaron Bode of New Brunswick; brother, Gary Bode of Venice, Fla.; sister, Donna Bode of New Brunswick; two nephews, one niece and many other relatives.
The funeral service was Oct. 7 in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Interment was in Clearwater Cemetery
in Wagarville.
Elizabeth Finch
Elizabeth Finch, 91, a homemaker, died Oct. 1, 2006 at Jackson Medical Center. She was a native and resident of the Manila community of Jackson. A member of the Cedar Fork Baptist Church in Suggsville, she was a former church secretary, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Brotherhood.
She is survived by two sons, Oneal Finch and George (Velma) Finch, all of Jackson; daughter, Axie Lee White of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine greatgreat grandchildren.
The funeral service was Oct. 7 at Cedar Fork Baptist Church in Suggsville with the Rev. Credell Bolden, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
Booker T. Presnall
Booker T. Presnall, 84, died Oct. 9, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. A native and resident of Grove Hill, he was a retired employee at Scotch Lumber in Fulton. He was a member of Orange Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Irma Love of Mobile; brother, James Presnall of Flint, Mich.; eight sisters, Mary (Willie James) and Inez, both of Detroit, Mich.; Delois and Marguerite, both of Grove Hill, Eunice of Allen, Annie Ruth and Evelyn of Flint and Corain of Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; a devoted nephew, Walldell Presnall of Grove Hill and devoted friend, Kristie Mays of Grove Hill as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be Sunday, Oct. 15, 2 p.m. at Orange Hill Baptist Church in Grove Hill with the Rev. James Barron, pastor. Viewing will be on Saturday, 6-8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. A second viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday. Burial will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery
in Grove Hill.
