EMMA JEAN LEE

CHILDERSBURG — Emma Jean Lee, 72, of 1635 16th Ave., died Oct. 6 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

JIMMY SMITH LEE

Educator, husband, father and friend Jimmy Smith "Smitty" Lee will be missed by many people in the Pell City and St. Clair County communities.

"We really lost a good friend and a great person," said former St. Clair County Schools Superintendent Joey Ray, who worked under Lee as an assistant principal at Duran Junior High School and a principal at St. Clair County High School.

"He's one of those persons you could always count on," Ray said. "He never tried to get recognition for himself."

Lee, a former St. Clair County and Pell City assistant schools superintendent, died Oct. 6.

Ray's comments about Lee's unselfishness as an assistant superintendent were echoed by other of his colleagues.

"He was great to work for," said Roger Pate, a former Pell City High School principal who worked for Lee when Pell City established its own school district. "Smitty always tried to help you out and help you get everything you needed to run a school.

"He was a heck of a nice guy, really," Pate said.

Funeral service for Mr. Lee will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. John Thweatt and the Rev. A.L. Courtney officiating. Burial will be in Valley Hill Memorial.

Former Pell City High School head football coach Pete Rich said he grew up with Lee. The two attended school together and later worked together in the Pell City School System.

"His boys played ball for me," Rich said.

Rich said his friend will be missed.

"He was a good family man who really cared about his kids," Rich said. "He was a good fellow, all around."

A lifelong resident of St. Clair County and a 1952 graduate of Pell City High School, Mr. Lee attended Auburn University, where he earned his B.S. and master’s degrees.

Mr. Lee started his career as a teacher at Vincent High School. He then returned to his alma mater at Avondale Jr. High, then moved to Pell City High School where he taught and helped coach the football team under then head coach Will Glover.

Mr. Lee became assistant superintendent of the St. Clair County School System and in 1982 became assistant superintendent of the newly formed Pell City School System.

He retired from the Pell City School System in 1991.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pell City, the Alabama State Teachers Retirement Association and the St. Clair County Retired Teachers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Scott Lee; one daughter, Lynne Lee of Pell City; three sons, Keith Lee and wife Denise of Moody, Scott Lee and wife Ashley of Birmingham and Jeff Lee and wife Tracy of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside Hospice or First Baptist Church of Pell City.

Pallbearers will be Ray Cox, Pete Rich, Ardis Weems, Joey Ray, Lester Rich, Roger Pate and Mike Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Lee, Tommy Lee, Chris Lee, Dana Merryman, Jimmy Bell, Danny Nixon and Richard Nixon.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MARSHALL M. LEE

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Marshall M. Lee, 55, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at 364 Marshall Lane in Pell City with the Rev. James Davis officiating. Burial will be in M.L. Lakeside Cemetery.

Mr. Lee died Oct. 6. He was owner and operator of Diesel Services Logistics.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Marie Lee of Pell City; his mother, Birthel Lee of Pell City; his father, Louie O. Lee of Pell City; four daughters, Colleen Jean Kitchens of Pell City, Cathy Marie Goodwin of Talladega, Alicia Fulk of Pell City and Kathy McDonald of Dunnavant; three sons, Jimmy Wayne McBurnett Jr., Roy D. Lee and Harry Lee of Pell City; two brothers, Lindon Roy Lee and Harlon Gregory Lee of Pell City; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 6 p.m. at 364 Marshall Lane in Pell City.

Pallbearers will be Nick Pyzia, Billy Bearden, Billy Hollis, Blake Brown, Lane Willis and Phill Goodwin.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CARRIE ALAYNA LIMBAUGH

FAYETTEVILLE — Graveside service for infant Carrie Alayna Limbaugh was Monday at 11 a.m. in Fayetteville Cemetery with David Mann officiating.

The infant died Oct. 4 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham.

She is survived by her father and mother, Colby and Jessica Limbaugh of Fayetteville; one brother, Hunter Limbaugh of Fayetteville; grandparents, Tonua and Roland Webster, Tracy and Gary Smith and Preston Limbaugh of Sylacauga; great-grandparents, Hayes and Louise Webster of Jackson, Tenn., Joe and Joan Smith of Childersburg, Robert Limbaugh of Sylacauga and Oneal and Wilene White of Sylacauga; aunts, Crystal Webster of Sylacauga, Michelle and husband Lee Mann of Sylacauga and Cindy and husband Bill Stovall of Jackson, Tenn.; uncle, Mark Limbaugh of Sylacauga; and cousins, Dustin and Jacob Mann of Sylacauga and Carley Stovall of Jackson, Tenn.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel directed the service.

MARY BELL MORRIS McGHEE

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Mary Bell Morris McGhee, 90, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W.C. McGowan officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery.

Mrs. McGhee died Oct. 6 at Sylacauga Health Care Center. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Obie McGhee, Robert McGhee and Samuel McGhee; three daughters, Amanda McGhee, Margaret McGhee and Silester McGhee; one sister, Alma M. Williams of Sylacauga; one brother, Artis Avery of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of other relatives.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home Tuesday from noon until 9 p.m.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Nieces will serve as flowerbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

CHRISTOPHER DOYLE PUTT

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Christopher Doyle Putt, 41, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Munford with the Rev. Curtis Collett officiating.

Mr. Putt died Oct. 6 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston. He was a native of Indiana, had lived in Talladega most of his life and attended Oxford High School.

He is survived by his mother, Omega P. Putt, and her companion, Everett Cooper of Talladega; one sister, Rikki Graben of Anniston; one brother, Mike Putt of Munford; his fiance', Sandra Mitchell of Anniston; two nieces and one nephew.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

LUCILLE STEVENS

MUNFORD — Funeral service for Lucille Stevens, 80, of 376 Goodenville Road, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hall Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Hall Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Stevens died Oct. 4 at Citizens BMC. She was retired from Holiday Inn in Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gooden and Ora Groce Gooden; and three brothers, John Gooden, Harold Gooden and James Gooden.

She is survived by one sister, Lillie Gooden of Munford; four brothers, Forrest Gooden, Lovell Gooden, Donald Gooden and Clarence Gooden of Munford; and her caregiver, Debra Gooden of Munford.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Gooden, Anthony Gooden, Johnny Gooden, Willie Gooden, Reginald Leonard and Tim Rollins.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

ROBERT E. TREADWELL

VINCENT — Robert E. Treadwell, 80, died Oct. 7 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel.
