WILLIE LEE ELSTON
DAYTON, Ohio — Graveside service for Willie Lee (Flat Top-Cooter Red) Elston, 69, formerly of Talladega, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Kelly Springs Memorial Gardens with the Rev. L.L. Jacobs officiating.
Mr. Elston died Aug. 12 at his residence.
He is survived by one son, Rufus Barclay of Talladega; daughters, Sharon Banks of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Buffy Elston of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Bertha Gilley of Talladega, Mary L. Chatman of Dayton, Ohio, and Lorraine Curry of Talladega; one brother, Willie E. Elston of Talladega; seven grandchildren, one aunt, one uncle and a host of other relatives.
The body may be viewed Tuesday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

TRAVIS JEROME CHEATWOOD
MONTGOMERY — Graveside service for Travis Jerome Cheatwood, 68, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cheatwood died Aug. 18 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Claudine Cheatwood; sons, Haskell Cheatwood and David Wayne Cheatwood of Montgomery; brother, Jerry Cheatwood of Talladega; and one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home.
Alabama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery will direct the service.

RUFUS NEAL COLEY SR.
ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for Rufus Neal Coley Sr. will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Elam No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. T.L. Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in Elam No. 1 Cemetery.
Mr. Coley died Aug. 16 at Elmore Community Hospital in Wetumpka. He was born April 20, 1917, in Coosa County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Hill and Anthony Coley.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Coley and Rufus N. Coley of Alexander City; one daughter, Maxie B. Johnson of Alexander City; one brother, Louis Coley of Alexander City; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home in Alexander City will direct the service.

HOWARD EARL COOPER
CROPWELL — Funeral service for Howard Earl Cooper, 63, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Victory Christian Center in Pell City with Brother Bill Gray officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Church of Nazarene Cemetery in Oneonta.
Mr. Cooper died Aug.19. He was retired from Birmingham Fire Department, was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, the Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, the Fire Marshalls Association of Alabama, the International Fire Marshalls Association and the International Association of Firefighters Local 4035 in Hoover. He was a retired member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 117 in Birmingham, a member of Code Officials of Alabama, North Alabama Chapter and the Southern Standard Building Code Congress International. He served on multiple committees for the advancement of fires and building codes for protecting of pubic and firefighters. He served in the U.S. Navy as Navy Seabees Construction and was a member of Victory Christian Center. He served his church faithfully.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Cooper; one son, Thomas Cooper; two grandchildren, Andrew Cooper and Rachel Cooper; two nieces, Jan Cooper and Frances Cooper; and his nephews, Tim Graham, David Cooper, Dewayne Cooper, Randall Cooper, Chris Cooper, Kevin Cooper and Jonathan Cooper.
The body may be viewed at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

ARTIE EPPERSON
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Artie Epperson, 88, was Monday at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.
Mr. Epperson died Aug. 18 at Sylacauga Health Care Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, where he served in many capacities, some of which were as a lifetime deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was married for 61 years and he was active in the Coosa Valley Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Doris H. Epperson of Sylacauga; one son, Jim Epperson of Pelham; one daughter, Janice Alberts of Bruce Crossing, Mich.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital c/o John Camp.
Shriners served as pallbearers.
The Glad Hand Sunday School Class and nurses from Sylacauga Health Care served as honorary pallbearers.
Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga directed the service.

EMMA JEAN GADDIS
ALEXANDER CITY — Emma Jean Gaddis died Aug. 19 at her residence.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home.

HENRY SHADE GAITHER
TALLADEGA — Henry Shade Gaither died Aug. 20 at his residence.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home.

RONALD GARRETT
BIRMINGHAM — Ronald Garrett, 46, formerly of Alpine, died Aug. 19 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Garrett’s Funeral Home.

SHANE HANNAH
PELL CITY — Funeral service for Shane Hannah, 24, was Saturday at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Hannah died Aug. 15.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Linda Hannah; his grandfather, Howell Sweatt; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directed the service.

ALTA LOUISE PHILLIPS
PELL CITY — Graveside service for Alta Louise Phillips, 84, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Old Valley Hill Cemetery with Brother Paul Messer officiating.
Mrs. Phillips died Aug. 19.
She is survived by one son, James D. Mathis of Birmingham; one daughter, Etheleen Funderburg of Pell City; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Alma Ozley and Mildred Mills; and two brothers, James Mitchell and Lelon Mitchell.
Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MARVA L. PLAYER
TALLADEGA — Marva L. Player, 52, of 903 West College St., died Aug. 19 at Citizens BMC.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

LINDA A. ROWE
PATTERSON, Ga. — Funeral service for Linda A. Rowe, 54, was Monday at Patterson Baptist Church. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery.
Mrs. Rowe died Aug. 17 at Satilla Regional Medical Center from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was a native of Wayne County but was a lifetime residence of Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her father, Pat Aspinwall. She was a retired post master from the Patterson post office, was a long-time member of Patterson Baptist Church and was a 1965 graduate of Patterson High School. She was an avid animal lover, a talented artist, loved gardening and working with crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Stan Rowe of Patterson, Ga.; her mother, Bertie A. Aspinwall of Patterson, Ga.; three sons, Neal Taylor of Patterson, Ga., Eric Taylor of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Chase Rowe of Patterson, Ga.; three grandchildren; two stepchildren, Stacy Rowe of Douglas and Tammy Rowe of Willacoochee; three stepgrandchildren; one sister, Pat Tucker of Cropwell; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
U.S. Postal Service employees and the Pierce County High School football yeam were honorary pallbearers
Smith Funeral Home in Blackshear directed the service.

FRANCES LOUISE STANLEY
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Frances Louise Stanley, 79, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dale Hooper and the Rev. Jerry Foote officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stanley died Aug. 18 at St. Clair Regional Hospital in Pell City. A native of Talladega County, she lived in Birmingham most of her life and moved back to Talladega seven years ago. She was a member of West End Baptist Church, was retired from Mayfield Cleaners in Birmingham and was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin (Doc) Stanley.
She is survived by three sisters, Juanita Solley of Talladega, Flora T. Welch of Montgomery and Jewel Dean Haynes of Munford; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roy Bean Jr., Bubba Cooper, Billy R. Stephens, Joe E. Haynes, Jeff Leadmon and Gerald Grogan.
Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARY VICKERS
CLAY COUNTY — Mary Vickers died Aug. 20 at her residence
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

WILLIE ALLEN WEAVER SR.
PELL CITY — Funeral service for Willie Allen Weaver Sr., 68, was Monday at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Bobby Parker officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Weaver died Aug. 18 at his residence. He was the first person to be born in the old Martin Hospital in Pell City, was a graduate of Oxford High School and was retired from the military with 28 years of service. During his time in the military, he served in the Navy, Army and the National Guard. He was a member of the VFW Post 107 of Leeds and the American Legion where he served as the Sergeant at Arms.
He is survived by one daughter, Selina Skelton of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Bill Weaver and wife Wanda of Pell City; two sisters, Judy Ayers and husband Melvin of Pell City and Nickie McKee and husband Charlie of Pell City; one brother, Jack (Butch) Weaver and wife Patsy of Pell City; his grandmother, Nora Cooper of Anderson, N.C.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Galvan, Johnathan Honeycutt, Jessica, Nathan, Bill Weaver and Jessie Walker; great-grandchildren, Adam Christian Galvan and Kaylie Breann Honeycutt; uncle, O.S. Cooper of Birmingham and George Pounds of Monrow, N.C.; aunt, Frances McDuffie of Pedmont, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.
