Strickland

Ruth D. Strickland died May 8, 2006 at a local nursing home at the age of 91. She was a native and resident of Bigbee. A member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Carmel, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, James R. Strickland of Millry; grandson, Anthony Silcox of Mobile; granddaughter, Kim Shultz of Valley Head and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart Dumas and Liza Grimes Dumas; husband, Fletcher F. Strickland and sister, Connie Dixon.

The funeral service was May 10 at St. Stephens Funeral Home. Interment was at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bigbee with the Rev. Richard C. Perkins and the Rev. Darrell Butts officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Silcox, Chris Connell, Matt Connell, Josh Shultz, Wilber Dixon, Jason Holifield and Nate Shultz.

Brunson

Ethel Brown Brunson, 85, died May 12, 2006 at a local hospital. She was a native of Theodore and a resident of Jackson. A member of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson, she was a member of the Home Extension Club and a retired business owner.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie B. (Billy) Harrison of Jackson; four sisters, Jeanette Pruitt and Martha McDonald, both of Jackson, Dorothy Nell Lee of Manuel, Texas and Gloria Cochran of Lafayette, La.; brother, Sidney Brown of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was May 13 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Howard

Tony Dean Howard, 48, died May 10, 2006 at a local hospital. He was a native of Jackson and a resident of Deer Head. He was a retired shipper at Olin Chemical, a member of Washington Baptist Church and had served 14 years as athletic trainer for Leroy High School.

Survivors include his parents, Shirley and Henry Howard of Deer Head; wife, Karen M. Howard of Deer Head; five sons, Chris (Susie) Howard, Alan (Amanda) Howard and Andin Howard, all of Deer Head, Jason (Julie) Howard of Luthersville, Ga. and Ryan (Tori) McRae of Pearl, Miss.; two brothers, Wayne Howard of Gulf Shores and Phillip Howard of Copeland; four grandchildren, T.J. Howard, Christian Howard, Logan Howard and Cassie Howard.

The funeral service was May 13 at Washington Baptist Church. Interment was in the Old Washington Baptist Church Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Price

Margie Elizabeth Price, a native of Uniform and a resident of Fruitdale, died May 14, 2006 at a local health care facility at the age of 78.

She was a member of the Fruitdale Church of the Brethren and was retired from Cam Corporation.

She is survived by five sons, Douglas Price, Maurice Price, Gary Price, Paul Price and Johnny Price, all of Fruitdale; three daughters, Willie Thornton of Fruitdale, Lou Beasley of Satsuma and Brenda Slayter of Lucedale, Miss.; brother, Marshal Gray of Semmes; brother-in-law, Wilbur Price of Chatom; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.

The funeral service was May 16 at Fruitdale Church of the Brethren. Interment was in GraceWilliams Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom directing.

Boman

Vera Thompson Boman, 74, a retired cafeteria dietician and resident of Frankville, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. She was a native of Washington, D.C. A member of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Frankville, she served in the Sunday School department, Missionary Society, Prayer Band and Nursing Home Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Thomas and Landy Thomas, her husband, M.C. Boman and a daughter, Brenda Bass.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Thomas) Walden of Huntingdon Beach, Calif.; two stepchildren, Sharon Dixon of Frankville and Frinzetta Boman of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Mildred Wright of Baltimore, Md.; aunt, Thelma Wells of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Angela and Tommie Thomas of Huntingdon Beach and Rene Bass of Baltimore; four brothersin law; five sisterd-in-law and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

The funeral service will be Thursday, (today) May 18, 1 p.m. from the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Frankville with the Rev. Keith D. Howell, pastor and eulogist. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directing. There will be no visitation.

Jackson

Sarah Moore Jackson, a resident of Jackson, died May 15, 2006 at the Jackson Health Care Facility at the age of 83. She was a member of the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson where she served as a deaconess and on the Usher Board.

Survivors include four daughters, Bessie Todd, Debra Jackson, both of Jackson, Irma M. Jackson of Detroit, Mich. and Sarah Richardson of Birmingham; eight sons, Alfonzo Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind., Robert Jackson, Richard C. Jackson, Ernest Jackson and Theodore Jackson, all of Detroit, Rickey C. Jackson of Conrad, Md., Johnny Jackson of Jackson and Sylvester Jackson Jr. of Atmore; sister, Rosa Chamberlin of Selma; brother, Douglas Moore of Chicago, Ill.; 33 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Gregory

Ann Adeline Gregory, 69, died May 15, 2006 at a local hospital. She was a native of Beatrice and a resident of Whatley. A homemaker, she was a member of Horeb Baptist Church in Whatley.

Survivors include three sons, Robbie (Kerry) Gregory of Jackson, Al (Karen ) Gregory and Myron (Mitzi) Gregory, all of Whatley; four daughters, Zola (Vaughn) Howell of Leroy, Nancy Knowles of Huntsville, Anita (Billy) Johnson of Mt. Olive, Miss. and Karen (John) Brown of Whatley; two brothers, George Boutwell of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tommie Boutwell of Denham Springs, La.; three sisters, Sarah McGraw of Hybart, Willie Foster of Saraland and Mary Bland of Union Springs; 14 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

The memorial service was May 20 at Horeb Baptist Church in Whatley with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.

Wright

Michael Aurthur Wright, 56, died May 18, 2006 at his residence in Gainestown. A native of Clarke County, he was selfemployed in the trucking industry.

He is survived by his mother, Audrey Monk Kingsolver of Creola; two sons, Thomas (Kandis) Wright of Saraland and Ronald Wright of Axis; three sisters, Rebecca Wright of Mobile, Irene Anthony of Stapleton and Mary Martha Bryan of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, King Wright of Satsuma, Ben Wright of Creola and Wesley Wright of Saraland; two granddaughters, Hayley Wright and Kristen Wright, both of Saraland.

The graveside service was in the Peniel Cemetery in Jackson with the Rev. Don Rushing, pastor of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson officiating and St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.

Beard

William Curtis Beard, 87, died May 30, 2006 at a local hospital. He was a native of Bolinger and a resident of Chatom. A member of Fairhope Baptist Church in Chatom, McCormick Lodge No. 40, Abba Temple Shrine Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star, Washington County 4C Shrine Club and the VFW, he was a retired gas salesman with Blossman Gas. He served in World War II with the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Rawlings and Sharon (Pete) Parnell, all of Chatom; sister, Virgie Kimbrough of Greenville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was May 31 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. Interment was in the Chatom Cemetery.

Tolbert

Virginia Tolbert, 68, a native of McIntosh and a resident of Sunflower, died June 23, 2006 at her residence.

She was a cashier and teller for Merchants Bank in Jackson and a member of Sunflower United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Lamar Tolbert of Hoover and Donnie Tolbert of Sunflower; two sisters, Carolyn Smith of Cleveland, Tenn. and Faye Visser of Spanish Fort; and devoted friend, Linda Laton of Sunflower.

The funeral service was June 27 at the Sunflower United Methodist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
