Leggett

Mary Francis Nichloson Leggett, a native and resident of Walker Springs, died April 12, 2006 at her residence at the age of 59. A graduate of Harper High School of Jackson, she received her bachelor of science degree from Alabama State University and a master's degree from Auburn University. Aretired educator for the Clarke County School System for 33 years, she was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs.

She is survived by a daughter, Danielle Nettles of Mobile; mother, Lois Nichloson of Walker Springs; two sisters, Mamie Berry of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Malinda Chatman of Valhermoso Springs; brother, Cleo Nichloson Jr. of Burbank, Calif. and one grandchild.

The funeral service was April 17 at St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing. Interment was in Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs.

Andrews

Joyce Elaine Arnold Andrews, 66, died April 8, 2006. A native and resident of Dayton, Ohio, she was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church where she was also a member of the South Missionary Circle. A1958 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, she attended Miami Jacobs Business College. She was a Cub Scout den mother, newspaper branch counselor and

dietary assistant for nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Arnold and Nellie and Charles Childs.

Survivors include her husband, William W. Andrews of Dayton, Ohio; five children, Marcia E.

Livingston) McClinton, William W. (Michele) Andrews Jr., Darren L. (Deborah M.) Andrews Sr., all of Columbus, Ohio, Anita M. (Andr J. Sr.) Bursey of Dayton and Veronica R. (Vincent C. Jr.) Martin of St. Louis, Mo.; father-in-law, John W. Andrews of Jackson; two sisters-in-laws, Hattie V. Sampson and Harriette T. (Thamus) Douglas, all of Jackson; brother-in-law, Carl G. Andrews; 12 grandchildren, Joycelynn R. Andrews, William W. Andrews III, Darren L. Andrews Jr., Johnathan J. Andrews, Andr J. Bursey Jr., Christopher C. Andrews, Lauren M. R. McClinton, Vincent C. Martin III, Aaron M. Andrews, Dallas W. Martin, Alexiana M. Bursey, Darius M. Martin, Kevin D. Chenault, Travis W. Chenault and Adrian M. Martin and a host of cousins.

The funeral service was April 14 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home Inc. in Dayton, Ohio with Minister Edward J. Miller Jr. officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eddie L. Sampson, Thaddeus Douglas, Darren L. Andrews Jr., William W. Andrews III, Livingston McClinton and Andr Bursey Sr.

Elmore

The funeral service for Evie Leaner Kelley Elmore, 81, of Frankville, was conducted on April 15 at New Hope Methodist Church in Frankville. The Rev. Jimmie Butts officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home of Millry directing.

Mrs. Elmore died April 13, 2006 at her residence in Frankville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan Kelley and Laura Todd Kelley.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie Frank Elmore of Frankville; two sons, Jessie Evan (Virginia) Elmore of St. Stephens and Wilbert Lee "Will" (Faye) Elmore of Frankville; daughter, Peggy Elmore (Howard) Hayes of Spanish Fort; six grandchildren, Ricky Hayes, Tim Hayes, Randy Elmore, Ronnie Elmore, Sandra Cummins and Dennis Elmore; 12 great-grandchildren, Jessie Hayes, Shelley Hayes, Jared Elmore, Tyler Elmore, Taylor Elmore, Savannah Cummins, Dallas Elmore, Devin Elmore, Robin Elmore, Kennedi Driggers, Mason Elmore and Maggie Elmore.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Howard Hayes, Dr. Steve Donald, Olan Kelley Jr. and Worth Schultz.

Fleming

Bobbie Joe Fleming, 72, died April 18, 2006 in an automobile accident. He was a native and resident of Salitpa. A former pilot with Warrior Gulf Navigation, he was retired from Ciba Geigy Corp. He was a former master of the H. Clay Armstrong Masonic Lodge 544, he was a former worthy patron in the Santa Fe Order of Eastern Star 505, a member of the Scottish Rite Order of Masons, the Abba Shrine, the Abba Temple Greeters Unit, a member of Tombigbee Shrine Club, charter member of 4C Shrine Club and a Shriner Hospital van driver. He was also a member of River Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Roberts Fleming of Salitpa; son, Robert J. (Susan) Fleming of Montgomery; daughter, Candace Fleming (Wendell Hodge) Savage of Salitpa; two brothers, Cleve Fleming of Blountstown, Fla. and Ellis Fleming of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jared Fleming, Shane Atwood and Samantha Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb Johnson "Poe" Fleming and Mary Lou Dunn Fleming and a brother, Jack Fleming.

The funeral service was April 21 at River Hill Baptist Church in Salitpa. The masonic graveside service was conducted in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Pelham

Lillie V. Pelham died at Jackson Health Care Facility April 24, 2006. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Bobbie Ann Purvis and infant daughter, Jenean, husband, Archie Pelham, two stepsons, Steve Pelham and Cleave Pelham.

She is survived by a grandson, Dr. Rick Purvis and his life partner, Dean Malone of Louisville, Ky.; a son-in-law, Agnew Purvis of Mobile; niece, Betty Joyce (Burnard) Pugh of Coffeeville; nephew, Billy (Betty Mae) Allday of Jackson; great niece, Wanda Blount of Jackson and Blanch Starks and her immediate family who cared for her the last 15 years.

The funeral service was April 26 at West Bend Baptist Church. Interment was in the Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Whidden

Jack Conrad Whidden, 90, a native of Estero, Fla. and a resident of Chatom, died April 21, 2006 at Jackson Health Care Facility. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Whidden jumped behind enemy lines at Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge earning a Purple Heart.

Survivors include, son, Leland (Becky) Whidden of Mobile; two daughters, Vicki (Mike) Shows and Glenda (Dave) Vickless, all of Jackson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The graveside service was April 23 in the Chatom Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Jordan

Wilma Ruth Faile Jordan, a former inspector with Soloman Brothers Manufacturing, died April 18, 2006 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. She was a native of Failetown in Clarke County and a resident of Coffeeville.

The funeral service was April 20 at Witch Creek Baptist Church in Campbell with the Rev. Curtis Thomas and Rev. Roscoe Wentworth officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by two sons, Joe C. (Karen) Jordan and Wilson B. (Molly) Jordan, all of Coffeeville; brother, Herbert Faile of Campbell; sister, Ruby Brooks of Coffeeville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry

Bradley, Billy Walker, J.P. Walker, Greg Siavelis, Chris Walker and Temple Huckabee.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Daniels, Burnard Pugh, Gaines Carter, Ronnie Craft, Bobby Ray Faile, Earl King and Melvin York.

McConnell

Suzanne Sutton McConnell, 61, of Thomasville, died April 17, 2006 at her home. A manager at Brookshire Apartments in Thomasville, she was a member of Pineview Baptist Church.

The funeral service was April 19 at Pineview Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Myers officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

Survivors include a son, Neal McConnell of Thomasville; daughter, Beth McConnell of Thomasville; brother, Carey B. Sutton of Prattville and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert McConnell III.

Pallbearers were Steve Kennedy, Pat Campbell, Billy Wayne Black, Walter Williams, Doug Parten and Billy Parten.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Clarke County High School Class of 1963.
