Curtis James Love

Curtis James Love, 60, a native and resident of Grove Hill, died Jan. 30, 2007 at Grove Hill Medical Center. Disabled, he was a member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 1 in Grove Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Love and Emma Mae Nobles Love.

Survivors include six sisters, Willojean Coates and Alysia Love, both of Grove Hill, Jeanette Mitchell of Hammond, La., Cora Mae Love of Mt. Vernon and Earlene Gray and Ola Mae Armstead, both of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Calvin Love of Hinesville, Ga. and Robert Louis Love of Toledo.

The funeral service was Feb. 3 at Pine Chapel No. 1 Baptist Church in Grove Hill with the Rev. Eligha Scott, pastor and eulogist. Burial was in the church cemetery with Andrews Funeral Home directing.

Kendrick Andre Davis

Kendrick Andre Davis, 20, a member of the Air Force Reserve, died Feb. 4, 2007 in an automobile accident.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Rachelle Davis of Grove Hill; stepmother and father, Theresa and Gerald Curtis of Silas; two sisters, Courteney Davis and Mercedes Clarke, both of Grove Hill; devoted brother, Jwan Jones Jr. of Grove Hill; grandmother, Edwina Davis of Grove Hill; grandmother, Stella Jackson of Choctaw Bluff and great-grandmother, Mary Amos of Grove Hill.

Viewing will be on Saturday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral hour at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery in Fulton with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson directing.

Eunice Clyde Arlena Keel

Eunice Clyde Arlena Keel, a native of Tallahatta Springs and a resident of Grove Hill, died Feb. 8, 2007 at the age of 76 in Thomasville. She was a homemaker and member of Magnolia Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by two sons, James W. (Carolyn) Keel Jr. and Roger (Brenda) Keel, all of Grove Hill; sister, Inez McIntyre of Grove Hill, two grandsons, Jeffery C. (Wendy) Keel and Archie S. Keel, all of Grove Hill; granddaughter, Rebecca G. (Todd) Keel of New Port News, Va. and a great-granddaughter, Morgan L. Keel of Grove Hill.

The funeral service was Feb. 10 at Magnolia Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Billy Cardwell, the Rev. William Allison and Roger Keel officiating. Interment was in the Keel Family Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.

Pallbearers were Archie Keel, Jeffery C. Keel, Bobby Keel, Junior Keel, Perry Dailey and Freddy Dixon.

Florence Dunn Regan

Florence Dunn Regan, 81, a resident of Gulf Shores, and formerly of Jackson, died Feb. 8, 2007 at her residence. A retired Clarke County school teacher for 37 years, she taught at Leroy High School and at Gillmore Elementary School.

She is survived by a son, Stephen Dunn of Batesville, Miss.; daughter, Lisa Roby of Gulf Shores; three sisters, Mary Kendrick of Hurley, Miss., Esther Nicholson of Grand Bay and Eunice Adkins of Mobile; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was Feb. 12 at the First Assembly of God Church in Jackson with the Rev. E.C. Russell officiating. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens of Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Pallbearers were Joey Fleming, Ronnie Moore, Richard Ring, Benjie Robison, Benjamin Robison and Joel Broadway.

Lessie Mae Chatmon

Lessie Mae Chatmon, 74, a native of Avery, Miss. and a former resident of Jackson and a resident of Mobile, died Feb. 7, 2007 at her home. She was a lifelong member of St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson where she served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. A graduate of Hobson State Technical College in Thomasville, she received a degree as a licensed practical nurse. She retired from Jackson Hospital now known as Jackson Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margurette and Willie Chatmon.

Survivors include five sons, Terry Lee (Denise) Chatmon and Clayton Lee Chatmon, all of Mobile, Anthony James Chatmon of Columbus, Ga. and James Jerome (Kathy) Chatmon of Thomasville, Ga. and Thomas Johnny (Verlesa) Chatmon of Los Angeles, Calif.; five daughters, Carla (Richard) Young, of Gulfport, Miss., Elouise Chatmon and Shelia Marie (Anthony) Parham, all of Los Angeles, Sharon Ann (Curtis) Jones of Anniston and Yolanda Faye (Patrick) Turner of Mobile; 43 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; aunt, Lorena Bettis and uncle, Dewey Johnson, both of Jackson and a host of other relatives.

The funeral service was Feb. 13 at St. Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. J.M. Howard, pastor and eulogist. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson with Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Mary Louise Seals Greene

Mary Louise Seals Greene, 87, a member of St. Union Baptist Church in McIntosh, died Feb. 6, 2007 at her residence in McIntosh.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Simon of Aiken, S.C., Nettie Lark of Charlotte, N.C. and Jeannie Adderley of Nassau, Bahamas; four sons, William Thomas, Isaac Greene and John Greene, all of McIntosh and Daniel Greene of Charlotte; two sisters, Aline Woodyard of Prichard and Oreda Adams of McIntosh; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11 at St. Union Baptist Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Al Clyde Sauls, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Seals Cemetery in McIntosh with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the scholarship fund at St. Union Baptist Church, P.O. Box 869, McIntosh, AL 36553.

James Alexander Morris

James Alexander Morris, a resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Feb. 3, 2007 in Brooklyn at the age of 58.

He is survived by three sisters, Martha King of Jackson, Mary Smith of Brooklyn and Cealie James of Nashville, Tenn.

Visitation will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 17 beginning at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 12 noon in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. D.W. Moore will be officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.

Joseph Roper

Joseph Roper, 58, a resident of Toddtown, died Feb. 8, 2007 at a nursing home in Mobile. He was a member of Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church in Toddtown.

Survivors include his wife, Maudie Gaines Roper of Toddtown; four sons, Joe N. Gaines, Robert Gaines, Jerry L. Gaines and Martin Joe Roper, all of Shubuta, Miss.; daughter, Felicia Roper of West Palm Beach, Fla.; father, West Roper of Toddtown; four sisters, Roberta Creighton, Gloria (Willie) Smiley, Thelma (Johnny) Henry and Reba (George) Williams, all of Toddtown; five brothers, L.C. (Gloria) Roper, John (Mae Etta) Roper, Levan (Charlie) Roper, Hubert (Majorie) Roper and Tommy (Deshawn) Roper, all of Toddtown.

The funeral service was Feb. 13 at Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church in Toddtown. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Frederick Thompson, pastor, officiating and Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

James Taylor

James Taylor, 90, a native of McIntosh and a resident of Manila, died Feb. 9, 2007. He was a member of Little Burrah Baptist Church of Manila where he served as a deacon and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 951 in Alma.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Taylor of Manila; son, Walter Taylor of Stone Mountain, Ga.; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2 at the Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila with the Rev. William Jackson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Antioch A.M.E. Cemetery in Alma with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Ed Leigh Coxwell

The graveside service for Ed Leigh Coxwell of Elberta was Feb. 11, 2007 at Welcome Cemetery in Evergreen with Pine Rest Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Coxwell, 90, a native of McKenzie, graduated from Evergreen High School in Evergreen. Amember of the First Baptist Church of Lillian, he was a member of the NARFE organization and an Elk and Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Wentworth Coxwell of Elberta; two sons, Wayne Coxwell of Apalachicola, Fla. and George Coxwell of Johnson City, Tenn. and a brother, Fred Coxwell of Mobile.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra C. Garrett and first wife, Dorothy P. Coxwell.
