Ida Traylor

1903-2003

Funeral services for Ida Traylor, 100, of Dadeville were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Carter officiated. Burial followed at Dadeville City Cemetery.

Ms. Traylor died Nov. 30, 2003, at Hamilton House Nursing Center in Columbus, Ga.. She was born Aug. 25, 1903, to Harold and Green Adams.

She is survived by one grandson, Charles Traylor of Sylacauga and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joshua Wayne Williams

1979-2003

Funeral services for Joshua Wayne Williams, 24, of Ider, formerly of Dadeville, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Bro. Ed Thomas officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Langley Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003. He was born Tuesday, March 20, 1979.

He is survived by his parents, Tony Wayne Williams and Brenda Gail Williams both of Ider; one brother, Joseph Ray Williams and wife Marley of Dadeville; one sister, Kayla Williams of Ider; his grandfather, Hollis Ashworth of Henry County, Ga.; his grandmother, Geneva Williams and husband Butch of Ider; and his fiance, Staci Summerford of Ider.

Langley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ina E. Watson

1928-2003

Funeral services for Ina E. Watson, 74, of Dadeville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Dadeville. The Rev. Jim Pate will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at French Camp Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Langley Funeral Home.

Ms. Watson died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003. She was born Monday, Dec. 24, 1928, to Dock and Ora Edwards of French Camp, Miss. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dadeville and was treasurer of the Phebean Sunday School class. She was a member of various civic clubs and retired from Camp ASCCA where she served on the advisory board. She was chair of the Tallapoosa County Chapter Easter Seals. She organized and was president of the Dadeville Area Cancer Support Group for several years. She was a member of the Loaves and Fishes Ministry for her church and of the chamber of commerce and loved helping others.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Heller and husband Bob of Orlando; one son, Daniel Watson and wife Pauline of Orlando; two brothers, Andy S. Edwards and wife Nancy of Andalusia and Wm. B. Edwards of Dadeville; two sisters, Helen E. Kelly of Chevy Chase, Md., and Betty Jane Black of Kosciusko, Miss.; three grandsons; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel M. Watson Sr. and her parents.

Memorials may be sent to Camp ASCCA, P.O. Box 21, Jackson's Gap or the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N.E., Atlanta, GA.

Ruth Canada Ayers

1917-2003

Graveside services for Ruth Canada Ayers, 86, of Jackson's Gap will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam, Ark. Bro. Clisdol Ruffin will officiate. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Ocker-Putnam Funeral Home in Van Buren, Ark.

Mrs. Ayers died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Bethany House in Opelika. She was born July 25, 1917, in New Mexico to Marshal L. Ayers and Ethel Nora Matthews Ayers. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of Yaweh. She loved to crochet and quilt and made many beautiful pieces for family and friends. She also loved to read, sight see and have her family together.

She is survived by four daughters, Tressie Pennington and husband Roy of Jackson's Gap, Lessie Ruffin and husband Clisdol of Fort Smith, Ark., Joquetta Sanders and husband Luther of Parrion, Ark., and Oowalah Henderson and husband Jimmy of Tallassee; two sons, Marion John Ayers and wife Alice of Titus, and Jimmy Doyle Ayers and wife Sarah of Jackson's Gap; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren.

Radney Funeral Home and Ocker-Putnam Funeral Home of Van Buren, Ark., are in charge of arrangements.

Effie A. McKee Turner

1905-2003

Funeral services for Effie A. McKee Turner, 98, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The Revs. Joe Mallory and Jimmy Bassham will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Turner died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Elmore County to Albert McKee and Susan E. James McKee. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Alexander City. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved gospel music, especially quartet singing.

She is survived by four daughters, Clothilde T. Collins of Rockford, Brenda T. Burnette of Alexander City, Jo T. Ward of Goodwater and Kathryn T. Reed of Alexander City; two sons, Freddy G. Turner of Pinson and Merrell L. Turner of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, James T. Turner; one son, Thomas Louis Turner and all of her siblings.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie G. Bannister

Dec. 9, 2003

Funeral services for Annie G. Bannister, 97, of Destin, Fla., will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Curtis and Son North Chapel. The Rev. Earl Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Mrs. Bannister died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast Hospital. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Johnnie Bannister of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Lynn Bannister of Jasper; one sister, Louise Parrett of Sylacauga; one brother, Lenward Green and wife Preacher of Vincent; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Linn G. Bannister.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Newberry Visney

1916-2003

Graveside services for Lois Newberry Visney, 87, of Wilmer will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Visney died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in Mobile. She was born July 2, 1916, in Tallapoosa County to Lois L. Newberry and Sarah Emfinger Newberry. She was retired from the U.S. Civil Service. She served with Meals on Wheels in Mobile. She was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile, the United Methodist Women, the Church Women United of Mobile, the Mobile Joint Legislative Council and Beta Sigma Phi. She also served on the board for Dumas Wesley Community Center.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests no flowers. Contributions may be made to Dumas Wesley Community Center, P.O. Box 7325, Mobile, AL 36670.
