Samuel Jones of Goodwater died Sept. 14, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Wright's Funeral Home.

Lillian Belle Wood

1923-2003

Funeral services for Lillian Belle Wood, 80, of Goodwater, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Johnny Clark will officiate. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, and for 30 minutes prior to service.

Mrs. Wood died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Goodwater Healthcare Center. She was born May 4, 1923, in Talladega County to Tolliver White and Clemmie Williams White. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of West Coosa Senior Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Hazel Briggs of Goodwater; three granddaughters, Jennifer Sobin of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jamie Cleary of Homewood and Diana Harrell of Goodwater and five great grandchildren.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Calvin Odem

Sept. 13, 2003

John Calvin Odem died Sept. 13, 2003, in East Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Armour Memorial Funeral Home.

Mollie Newman Burnett

1909-2003

Funeral services for Mollie Newman Burnett, 94, of New Site, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Radney's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burnett died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Brown Nursing Home. She was born April 11, 1909, in Tallapoosa County to Mansfield Newman and Greenie-Brown Newman. She was a weaver at Avondale Mills and was a member of New Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Burnett and wife LaRue of Alexander City and Bobby Burnett of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren, Sharon McLain and husband Milton of Alexander City, Patti Mitchell and husband Reid of Eclectic, Jan Kennedy and husband Gary of New Site, Tim Burnett of Alexander City, Tracy Taylor and husband Glenn of Baton Rouge, La., and Bobby Burnett Jr. and wife Lisa of Baton Rouge, La.; one brother, Chester Newman and wife Mary Jo of Alexander City; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild..

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ruben Burnett.

George Wallace Railey

1938-2003

Funeral services for George Wallace Railey, 65, of Dadeville will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at New Concord Baptist Church. Bros. Ronnie Litsey and David Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.

Mr. Railey died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003. He was born Thursday, May 26, 1938. He was a retired employee of Liberty National Insurance Company in Alexander City and was an active member of New Concord Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Hornsby Railey of Dadeville; one son "Bubba" James Wallace Railey of Daviston; two daughters, Juanita Railey McBride and husband Danny of Jackson's Gap and Frances Railey Dunn and husband Harold Jr. of Dadeville; four grandchildren, Joey McBride and wife Janice William and Sandy Caleb McBride, all of Jackson's Gap, Dylan Matthew Railey Dunn and Ethan Nathaniel Harrison Dunn, both of Dadeville; two great-grandchildren, Michalyn Hope McBride and Gabriel Daniel McBride, both of Jackson's Gap; two brothers, Joe Railey of Opelika and the Rev. Bobby Railey of Dadeville and three sisters, Evelyn Greer, Katie Porter and Carolyn Keel, all of Dadeville.

Langley Funeral Home of Camp Hill is in charge of arrangements.

Misha Anita Allen Boston

1953-2003

Funeral services for Misha Anita Allen Boston, 50, of Fayetteville, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Early Rose Baptist Church in Alexander City. The Rev. Eddie Hunter will officiate. Burial will follow at Armour Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Boston died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, N.C. She was born June 3, 1953, in Tallapoosa County to Ocie Martin Russell and Martha Louise Allen Spivey.

She is survived by one daughter, Shantel Yvonne Boston of Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Delacy O'Neal Boston of Tuskegee and Allan Bernard Boston Jr. of Atlanta; her mother, Martha Louise Spivey of Alexander City; seven sisters, Martha E. Allen, Charlotte L. Allen, Patricia S. Buchanan and husband Benjamin, Catrina D. Rowe and husband Sam and Regina Y. Spivey, all of Alexander City, Priscilla Ann Ward and husband Nathaniel of Fayetteville, N.C., and Belinda J. Cook of Daleville; eight brothers, Ray A. Allen, Donald J. Spivey, Willie J. Spivey Jr., Kenneth D. Spivey, Darryl Spivey and wife Diane, Derrick D. Spivey and wife Sherry, all of Alexander City, Ronald L. Spivey of Social Circle, Ga., and Calvin O. Spivey and wife Vicky of Huntsville; one granddaughter, Niccay Nashawn Shantel Boston; a devoted friend, Earl Monroe and a host of other relatives and friends.

Winston "Wink" H. Adams

1941-2003

Funeral services for Winston "Wink" H. Adams, 62, of Dadeville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Langley Funeral Home Chapel. Randy Anderson and Bro. Tom Pemberton will officiate. Burial will follow at Tallapoosa Memory Gardens.

Mr. Adams died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003. He was born Friday, Feb. 28, 1941. He was a member of New Concord Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jean F. Adams of Dadeville; four sons, Tim Adams and Tommy Adams and wife Marianne, all of Dadeville, Thomas Berry and wife Tina and Phillip Farrow and wife Kathy, all of Alexander City; one daughter, Debbie Williams and husband Scott of Lineville; two brothers, Charles Adams and wife Carol of Alexander City; Donald Adams and wife Doris of Atlanta, one sister, Betty Mortecai and husband Jerry of Millport and 14 grandchildren.

Fannie Pearl Brooks

1927-2003

Funeral services for Fannie Pearl Brooks of Salem will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Antioch Baptist Church in LaFayette. The Revs. Larry Tolbert and Calvin Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks died Sept. 6, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1927. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in LaFayette.

She is survived by one son, George Brooks Jr. and wife Wylene of Salem; one daughter, Alice P. Turner and husband Charlie of Salem; two sisters, Addie Hill of LaFayette and Willie Mae Jackson and husband Junior of Tallassee; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
