CLARA MAE COOK
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Clara Mae Cook, 57, of 87 Westgate Apartments, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Holy Hill Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Bishop Edward Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Holy Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Cook died Dec. 2 at her residence. She was a graduate of R.R. Moton High School and was a graduate of Central Alabama Community College with a degree in business administration. She was a member of Holy Hill Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a former employee of Talladega College, Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, Burton Development Center, the Department of Human Resources and Citizens Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by a daughter, ShaRonda DeVonn Cook; a sister, Ollie Sue Cook and a brother, Ray Charles Cook. She was a member of the Magnificent Ones Social and Savings Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Angela Denis Putnam of Talladega; her parents, Carrie Mae Thomas of Talladega and Charlie Ray Cook of Sycamore; her stepfather, William E. Thomas of Talladega; two sisters, Karen Faye Peoples of Birmingham and Gloria Cook of Pennsylvania; one brother, Johnny Ray Cook of Atlanta, Ga., and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Curry, Terrance Hartley, Randy Chatman, Johnathon Kelly, Terry Jackson and Dale Jackson.
Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.
THELMA BOYETT CAMPBELL
RAGLAND — Funeral service for Thelma Boyett Campbell, 73, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home. Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell died Dec. 4.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Campbell of Ragland; one son, Russell Boyett of Pell City; three daughters, Deborah Smith of Grand Prairie, Texas, Montez Sievers of Clarksville, Tenn., and Kathy Taylor of Midfield; two brothers, James Smith of Anaheim, Calif., and Robert Smith of Birmingham; one sister, Faye Johnson of Round Rock, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield will direct the service.
THELMA EASTERWOOD GREGG
MONTGOMERY — Funeral service for Thelma Easterwood Gregg, 95, formerly of Lineville, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lineville Church of Christ with J.L. Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Gregg died Dec. 5 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Montgomery. She was a native of Cherokee County, was a former resident of Randolph County and had lived in Lineville since 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Lineville Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise Gregg Craft of Montgomery; four sons, John Gregg of Pell City, Lewis Gregg of Fayetteville, Ga., William Gregg of Anniston and Jimmy Gregg of College Park, Ga.; three sisters, Lillian Easterwood of Lansing, Mich., Ruth Lapert of Cullman and Kate Spann of Pontiac, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday.

TALLADEGA — Ester B. Higgins, 85, of 141 Charleston Lane, died Dec. 5 at St. Clair Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.
RAYMOND FLOYD KELLEY
HARPERSVILLE — Service of Memory for Raymond (Toby) Floyd Kelley, 79, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Harpersville with Pastor Clarence Carter officiating. Burial will be in Harpersville City Cemetery.
Mr. Kelley died Dec. 3. He was a lifelong resident of Shelby County, was retired from Brasfield Construction Company and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Harpersville where he sang in the male chorus and served on the trustee board.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Kelley; daughter, Rosa Millender; brothers and sister, Memphis Kelley, Leon Kelley and Mildred Watkins; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed Friday from noon until 5 p.m. at the funeral home and from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church, where the family will receive friends.

PELL CITY — Funeral service for A.G. Phillips, 82, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Paul Brasher officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Phillips died Dec. 5 in Pell City. He was a native of Pell City, was a World War II veteran and was retired from Anniston Ordnance Depot. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pell City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Estelle Phillips.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Bice, Gloria Rowe and Shirley Echols and her husband Allen of Pell City; one son, Alton Phillips and his wife Mary Beth of Pell City; two sisters, Stella Mae Thomas of Ashville and Virginia Gray of Wattsville; three brothers, Earl Phillips and Willard Phillips of Ashville and Bill Phillips of Albertville; seven grandchildren, Tina Rowe Hanvey and her husband Barry, Brad Echols and his wife Gayle, Craig Rowe, Eric Phillips, Terry Bice and Debbie Powell and her husband Ben, Vicky Oti and her husband Jack and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Adam and Katlyn.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Terry Bice, Ben Powell, Brad Echols, Craig Rowe, Eric Phillips and Barry Hanvey.

CURTIS LEE BICE
PELL CITY — Funeral service for Curtis Lee Bice, 91, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Terry Layton officiating. Burial will be in Broken Arrow Cemetery.
Mr. Bice died Dec. 6 at his residence. He lived in Pell City for the past three months and was a former resident of Millport for more than 47 years. He was a retired coal miner and a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Bice; daughter, Carolyn Bice and granddaughter, Robin Eloise Graves.
He is survived by two sons, James Bice and Jack Bice of Pell City; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Martin Randall Foster, Ben Rich, David Horsley, B.J. Isbell Jr., John Isbell, Chris Willis, Derrick Willis and Jimmy Horsley.

JAMES MADISON PRUET
CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for James Madison (Matt) Pruet, 59, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Childersburg Church of Christ, with Brother Mike Ray and Brother Clarence Denney officiating. Burial will be in Childersburg Cemetery.
Mr. Pruet served on the Childersburg Planning Commission and Heritage Society. He was also a charter member of the city’s Historic Preservation Commission. Over the past two decades, he worked on the renovations of the Kymulga Grist Mill and the Butler Harris Rainwater Museum and helped develop the city’s new zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations and comprehensive plan.
He died Dec. 6 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center in Sylacauga.
Mr. Pruet was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Pruet. He was retired from Eastern Airlines, attended Auburn University and lived in the Childersburg area for about 15 years. He was born in Birmingham, and his job took him to New York, Miami and Atlanta before moving to Childersburg, the new home of his parents, according to his sister, Rebecca Pruet. In addition to his civic and municipal activities, he was an active member of the Childersburg Church of Christ and the Sons of the Confederacy.
He is survived by one sister, Rebecca Pruet of Ridgeland, Miss.; four aunts; and a host of cousins.
Childersburg Mayor B.J. Meeks, who first appointed Mr. Pruet to the Planning Commission in 1986, said he “was involved and active in the community. If you didn’t know any better, you would think he lived here his entire life. He cared about the city as much as people who have been here their entire life.
“I respected his opinions. From time to time, he gave me good input on various things,” Meeks said.
Mary Jo Whittle, who serves on the commission, said, “I will miss his experience and friendship. The city has lost someone who was very willing to give of his time and didn’t expect anything in return.”
Perry Wood, another commissioner, said, “Matt was a fine man. He was a good example of what being a good citizen should be. He was involved in a lot of things, and he put his heart into it.
“He was a good friend of the city and a wealth of wisdom. He will be missed by a lot of people,” Wood said.
George Limbaugh, executive director of the city’s Chamber of Commerce, said Pruet was “very enthusiastic” about a planned road to connect Alabama 76 to the city’s high school and middle school. He gave the city the easements for about half the land needed for the project.
Councilman Jimmy Payne said, “I liked old Matt. He seemed like a really nice guy.”
Denney, who is pastor of Childersburg Church of Christ, said Pruet was “a gentle, caring, kind and compassionate man” who participated in many church activities. He also was an antique expert and owned an antique shop in Atlanta.
City Clerk Sandra Donahoo said, “Matt was quite a historian. He would have made a great curator. He had a lot of knowledge of the value of items from certain time periods.”
The body may be viewed at the church Saturday from noon until service time.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Ray, Brian Whitworth, Pete Whitworth, Larry Atkinson, Pascal Abner and Gene Welch.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Childersburg Church of Christ or the Rainwater Museum.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.
