Audney W. Milam

1920-2003

Funeral services for Audney W. Milam, 83, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Wayside Baptist Church. Rev. Lowell Ledbetter and the Rev. Jason Rogers will officiate. Entombment will follow at Hillview Mausoleum. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Milam died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in Hackneyville. She was born on April 29, 1920, in Tallapoosa County to Joseph Johnson Woodruff and Eva Moore Woodruff. She worked as a spinner/packer for Russell Corp. for 46-and-a-half years and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

She is survived by three brothers-in-law, Larry Milam and wife Norma of Hackneyville, Reggie Milam of Alexander City and Roy Milam and wife Mary of Munford; and special friends, Johnny and Mary Worthy, Melvin and Maxine Warren and Donald and Marie Fuller, all of Alexander City and David Dial of Equality.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Miranda Dawn Peterson Jackson

1975-2003

Funeral services for Miranda Dawn Peterson Jackson, 28, of Jackson's Gap will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Robert Keatts and Reggie Kirk will officiate. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003.

Mrs. Jackson died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. She was born Jan. 30, 1975, in Alexander City to Franklin D. Roosevelt Peterson Jr. and Brenda Kay Huett Peterson. She worked as a runner for Russell Corp.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Jackson of Jackson's Gap; two sons, Matthew Scott Jackson and Austin Blake Love, both of Jackson's Gap; two daughters, Cheyanne Leigh Jackson and Kelsey Dawn Jackson, both of Jackson's Gap; her parents, Frank and Brenda Peterson of Alexander City; two brothers, James Randall Peterson of Jackson's Gap and Joseph Franklin Peterson of New Site; two sisters, Rena Jones and April Jones, both of Alexander City; her grandmother, Edna McCullum of Snellville, Ga.; her father-in-law, Timothy W. Jackson and wife Suzanne of Alexander City; her mother-in-law, Teresa Whitley and husband Glen of Alexander City and her grandfather-in-law, Thomas W. "Snag" Fuller.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Austin and Dorothy Huett; her grandmother-in-law, Sarah Fuller and her grandparents-in-law, Carl and Maxine Jackson.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Lea Bishop

1939-2003

Memorial services for Mildred Lea Bishop, 63, of Jackson's Gap, formerly of Edinburg, Ohio, and Labelle, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Atwater Town Hall in Atwater, Ohio. Pastor Arnold Edmondson will officiate. Burial will follow at Atwater Memorial Park in Atwater, Ohio.

Mrs. Bishop died Friday, July 25, 2003, at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. She was born Aug. 23, 1939, to Herbert and Ella (Smith) White in East Liverpool, Ohio. She grew up in Atwater, Ohio and then resided in Edinburg, Ohio for 34 years where she raised her family with her former husband Alan.

She is survived by a very close companion of 12 years, Robert Johnston of Jackson's Gap; five sons, Robert Bishop and wife Cathy of Alliance, Ohio, Donald Bishop of Rootstown, Ohio, John Bishop and wife Cecilia of Dadeville, Ronald Bishop and wife Cassandra of Newton Falls, Ohio, Thomas Bishop of Charlestown, Ohio; one daughter, Lauri Gibson of Kennesaw, Ga.; two brothers, Buck White of Atwater, Ohio and the Rev. James White of Beloit, Ohio; one sister, Jessicca Stratton of Mira Loma, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed as a loving mother and grandmother and especially a loving companion.

Alabama Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Robin Robinson

1968-2003

Funeral services for Robin Robinson, 35, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Derrick Russell will officiate. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson died July 25, 2003, at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1968, to Curtis and Clemmie Mae Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bernard Robinson of Alexander City; three children, Quarteshia Lashun Johnson, Marterious Shontae Young and Curtis Larun Young, all of Alexander City; her father, Curtis Johnson; her mother, Clemmie Mae Johnson; two step-children, Kannarda Baggett and Kenyatta Robinson; two brothers, Curtis Johnson and wife Charmette of Jackson's Gap; Jerry Johnson of Dadeville; four sisters, Shelia Young and husband Joseph of Alexander City, Geraldine Johnson and husband Greg of Dadeville, Amy Johnson and Betty Robinson and husband Orlando, all of Alexander City; her mother-in-law, Gradie Mae Robinson of Alexander City; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

William Edward "Bill" Martin

1925-2003

Funeral services for William Edward "Bill" Martin, 78, of Alexander City were at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church of Alexander City. Revs. Jimmy Bassham, Ron Gonia and Mickey Morgan officiated. Burial followed at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. at Radney's Funeral Home in Alexander City and for 30 minutes prior to service on Monday.

Mr. Martin died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. He was born in Birmingham on April 29, 1925, to Rev. Usher Lee and Myra Catherine Sharp Martin. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a member of the First United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Board and as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class. He was vice-president and loan officer of First National Bank in Alexander City. Mr. Martin was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 8th Airborne Division of the Army Air Corps as a crew member on a B25 Bomber in Italy. He was also a former member of the Alexander City Civitans and United Methodist Men.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Snowden Martin of Alexander City; one daughter, Linda Martin Huffman and her husband James of Concord, Ga.; two sons, William E. Martin Jr. and his wife Karen of Hoover, and Frank Martin and his wife Jenny of Sylacauga; 11 grandchildren, Gregory Huffman and his wife Julie of Griffin, Ga., Troy Huffman and his wife Emily of Williamson, Ga., Robb Huffman of Auburn University, Ann-Marie Wagner and her husband Andrew of Smith's, Emily Spencer of Harvest, Johnathon Martin of Townsend, Tenn., Amanda L. Benefield and James "Clint" Benefield both of Birmingham, Bradley Martin of Auburn University, Austin Martin of Sylacauga, and Steven Brian Moore of Opelika; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Blake Spencer of Harvest; and two sisters, Lois M. Thompson of Dadeville and Jean M. Williams of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. U.L. Martin and one daughter, Elizabeth Moore Burns.

Radney Funeral Home of Alexander City was in charge of the arrangements.

Sammy Jones

July 27, 2003

Graveside services for Sammy Jones, 55, of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Sardis Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003.

Estell Miller

July 28, 2003

Estell Miller, 91, of Alexander City died July 28, 2003, at Chapman Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Radney Funeral Home.

Paul Hudson Langford

1956-2003

Memorial services for Paul Hudson Langford, 47, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Rhodes Park off Highland Ave. Please bring a chair if you plan to attend. After the service, family and friends will gather at Barry Norris' home nearby, in fellowship to share memories of Paul's life. In case of inclement weather, you will be directed to Barry's house.

Mr. Langford died last week. He was born March 21, 1956, in Montgomery but resided in Birmingham after his family relocated. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, studying computer science. He was a Lotus Notes administrator at Mercedes-Benz in Vance.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Scroggins Langford, and his "best friend" Abby; his mother, Robbie Langford of Birmingham; his father Jan Langford and wife Kathy of Trussville; one sister, Libby Langford of Harpersville; three brothers, Jon Langford and wife Tracey and their children, Marty, Abby, Stephen and Hannah of Pinson; and David Langford and wife Dana and their children, David, Faith, John and Jordan; and Matt Langford of Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Children's Harbor in Alexander City, 1 Our Children's Highway, Children's Harbor, AL 35010-9534; or Children's Harbor Family Center at Children's Hospital, 1600 6th Avenue South, Suite 200, Birmingham, AL 35233-1711 or www.childrensharbor.com.
