PAULETTE DAVIS O'DONNELL

ATLANTA, Ga. — Graveside service for Paulette Davis O'Donnell will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Hopewell Cemetery, U.S. 411, north of Ashville. A private memorial service will be held Thursday in Atlanta.

Mrs. O'Donnell died Dec. 13 in Atlanta, Ga. A graduate of Judson College in Marion, Mrs. O'Donnell enjoyed a distinguished career with Delta Airlines. She began her career as a flight attendant and always spoke of those days with pride. In recent years she became, by chance, the keeper of Delta's heritage and history. It was the perfect match. Her graciousness, patience, intelligence, creativity and determination were ideal attributes for her work of Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum.

She always had time for any retiree who stopped by the office and she treated all with respect for what they may have accomplished for the company. She knew how to create a celebration and always looked for the opportunity. The completion of the restoration project for Ship 41, Delta's immaculately restored DC-3, inspired three major awards for the DC-3, including selection by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2001.

Most of all, she was a friend.

It was an adventure to know her, because she overflowed with ideas, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm. She would be proud to know her work will stand the test of time.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Davis; and her stepfather, Clemons Roe.

She is survived by her husband, Frank X. O'Donnell III of Atlanta; her mother, Ruby G. Roe of Pell City; her brother, William Van and Emily Davis of Pell City; her niece and nephew, Lauren and Paul Davis of Pell City; two stepdaughters, Catherine O'Donnell of Rockville, Md., and Alison O'Donnell of Kennesaw, Ga.; three stepsons, Peter, Michael and Paul O'Donnell of Kennesaw, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
