Ted Kirksey
Services for Bro. Ted Kirksey, 77, were held at Mt. Mariah
Baptist Church, Melvin, Alabama, on Wednesday, November 12, with Minister Charles Dailey officiating. Interment was held in Kaiser Hill Cemetery.
Bro. Kirksey passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Hill Hospital in York, Alabama. He was a native of Toxey, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Allen Kirksey, and a great-granddaughter Kurtisha Philon.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Young (husband A.C.), Sylvia Turner (husband Paul, both of Melvin), and Jane Parker (husband Floyd, of Waynesboro, MS; three adopted children, Terry Kirksey, Amanda Philon and DeSean Russell, all of Melvin; two brothers, Earnest Kirksey (wife Ethel) of Gilbertown, and Jimmy Kirksey (wife Clotee) of Battles, MS; two sisters, Annie Ruth Miller (husband John) of Toxey, and Lillie Mae Napier of Gilbertown; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy West (wife Jean) and Curtis West (wife Helen), both of Mobile, AL; one sister- in-law, Ann Ruth Pearson (husband Leo) of Boston, MA; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Family and friends served as pallbearers and flower bearers.

Dottie Mae Byrd Luker
Funeral services for Mrs. Dottie Mae Byrd Luker, 86, were held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Needham Assembly of God in Needham, with Rev. Jimmy Moore and Rev. James Irby officiating. Interment followed in Excel Cemetery in Excel, AL. Mrs. Luker, daughter of the late William Claudie and Ella Harden Byrd, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, at her residence in Needham.
Preceded in death by husband Joe Allen Luker, she is survived by two daughters, Dottie Joe Whittington (husband Lindsey Earl) of Needham, and Claudia Ann Cummings (husband Colin) also of Needham; three grandchildren, Dale Edwin Whittington, Sheri W. Wilkins, and Jason Cummings; and three great-grandchildren, Harley Whittington, Lauren Wilkins, and Whit Wilkins. Pallbearers were Andrew Manley, Greg Manley, Quinnie Donald, Jack Cummings, Ezell Whittington, and Kevin Luker.
Phillips Funeral Home of Gilbertown was in charge of arrangements.

James Harold Cooper
Services for James Harold Cooper, 63, were held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Gilbertown Assembly of God in Gilbertown, with Rev. Doug Chapman and Rev. Fred Wiley officiating. Burial followed in Barrytown Cemetery in Gilbertown. Mr. Cooper passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, at his residence in Gilbertown.
He is survived by his mother, Nalda Gilbert Cooper of Gilbertown; his wife Vernell C. Cooper, also of Gilbertown; three step-sons, Larry Adams, Mickey Adams, and Randy McInnis, all of Gilbertown; one step-daughter, Sheila Johnson (husband Ricky) of Gilbertown; two brothers, Gary B. Cooper of Gilbertown, and Vernon G. Cooper of Jesup, GA; two grandchildren, Amber and Justin Dawson; seven step-grandchildren, and one great step-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer G. Cooper and one brother, Ronald Cooper. Pallbearers included Cory Johnson, Justin McInnis, Little Mickey Adams, Jim Dawson, Bradley Cooper, and Luke Phillips.
Phillips Funeral Home of Gilbertown was in charge of arrangements.

Eva Joyce Moody
Graveside services for Eva Joyce Moody, of Butler, were held at Butler City Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, with Elder Joseph Zeigler, Jr., officiating. Mrs. Moody, 95, passed away on Monday, November 10, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Moody, her mother, Ada Rainer, her father, Solomon Lafayette Randall, a daughter, Eva Joy Alarid, and her son, Francis Fredrick Richards, Jr.
She is survived one daughter, Voncile Benthin of Camano Island, WA, and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler was in charge of arrangements.

Dora S. Gibson
Funeral services for Dora S. Gibson, of Butler, Alabama, were held on Monday, November 3, at Bumpers Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Gerald and Reverend John Lukie officiating. Interment was held in Camp Springs Cemetery in Scott Mountain, Alabama.
Mrs. Gibson passed away on Friday, October 31, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler. She was 87 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie W. Gibson and granddaughter Anna Greene.
She is survived by five sons, C. W. Gibson, Jr., of Tuscaloosa, AL, James Rodney Gibson, of Mobile, AL, Charles Ray Gibson, of Land, AL, Grover Kenneth Gibson, also of Land, and Tommy Roy Gibson of Toxey, AL; three daughters, Bertha Cox of Kenner, LA, Sara Long of Mobile, and Marie Rowe of Butler; one sister, Lessie Smith of Picayune, MS; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clay Gibson, Glenn Kelley, Chip Gibson, Kenneth Gibson, Troy Gibson and Brandon Gibson.

John T. Doggett
Graveside services for John T. Doggett, of York, Alabama were held on Monday, November 10, at York Cemetery, with Dr. Hugh Poole officiating.
Mr. Doggett passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 10. He was 85 years old. Mr. Doggett was a native of Gilbertown, AL , and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Plum (Shepherd) Doggett; Three sons, Tommy Doggett and wife Patricia of York, Johnny Doggett and wife Sandy of York, and Toby Doggett of Livingston, AL.; one daughter, Judy Dial and husband Lindsey of Livingston; one sister, Mildred Miller of Demopolis, AL; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Dewayne Dial and Amy Arminta Dial.

Paul Eugene Mickler
Memorial services for Paul Eugene Mickler, of the Lusk Community, were held on Sunday, November 2, at the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler, Alabama with Rev. Doug Stevens and Rev. Dennis Kennedy officiating.
Mr. Doggett passed away on Wednesday, October 29, at his residence. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his wife Darlene (Libsack) Mickler; two daughters, Lori Ann Jimerson of Lusk and Sandra Girard of Flagstaff, AZ; one son, Rick Kraus of Lake Navasu, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

Naomi Duren
BUTLER - Funeral services for Naomi Duren, 87, were held
on Sunday, Nov. 14th, 2005 at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Buddy Braddock officiating. Interment followed in Lynn Cemetery
in Graysville.
Mrs. Duren was born on March 14, 1918 and she died Saturday, Nov.
12 at Willow Trace Nursing Center. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Iris
Duren of Gilbertown; grandchildren, Dawn and Doug Duren of Demopolis,
and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Nicholas Duren of Demopolis.
Bumper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Turner Beech
CHATOM - Marie Turner Beech, a native of Washington County
and a resident of Chatom, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005.
Beech, 86, was a farmer and a member of Pine Level Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Onderdonk of Hobson; three
sons, Bob Moseley of Mobile, Charlie Moseley of Oklahoma and William
E. Moseley of Jackson; one sister, Dorothy Lathan of Jackson;
11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Pine Level Baptist Church.
Burial was at Jones Beech Cemetery in Chatom.
O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville was in charge
of the arrangements.

Lorena Ann Pleasant Bush
GOSPORT - Lorena Ann Pleasant Bush, a native of Choctaw County
and a resident of Gosport, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 at an area
nursing facility. She was 95.
Survivors include three sons, John Bush of Orange Park, Fla.,
Ken Bush of Grove Hill and Herbert Bush of Gosport; one daughter,
Ann Kennedy of Monroeville; one brother, Levyn Pleasant of Tyler,
Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service
at Gosport United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Gosport
Cemetery.
Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
