Datchel Ryan Holmes

Funeral services for Datchel Ryan Holmes, 89, of Eva were Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Rev. James Dennis and Darrel Chambers officiating, with Burial in Enon Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holmes died Saturday, Feb. 7, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born March 19, 1914, in Morgan County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ocho Holmes; her father, Sidney Albert Ryan; three brothers, Truman Ryan, Auburn Ryan and Gafton Ryan; and a sister, Ezell Stewart.

Survivors include her mother, Dorthula Dunreath Frost Ryan; two daughters, Clovis Holmes of Eva and Annie Jo Key of Hartselle; a granddaughter, Myra Ford of Eva; a grandson, Randall Don Key of Hartselle; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Mitch Ford of Eva; two half-sisters, Gaynell Ryan of Cullman and Juanita Burdick of Eva; and a stepsister, Luetta Kinney of Eva.

Pallbearers were Albert Ryan, Jerry Phillips II, Heath Ryan, Zeb Nelson, Darrell Holmes, Perry Holmes and Donald Holmes.

Visitation was Sunday.

Mary Catherine 'Kay' Klauer

Funeral services for Mary Catherine "Kay" Klauer, 86, of Sidney, Ohio, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Cromes Funeral Home, Dr. Fred Lacuesta officiating, with Burial in Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco, Ohio.

Cromes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Klauer died Friday, Feb. 6, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney. She was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Logan County, Ohio, to Oliver and Lena Yoder Heath. She married Edgar W. Klauer on Oct. 18, 1952. She worked at the Velvet Ice Cream Store in Piqua, Ohio; Uhlmans Department Store in Bellefontaine, Ohio; the Stolle Corp. in Sidney, Ohio; and the DeGraff Creamery in DeGraff, Ohio. She was a member of the Sidney Ladies Elks Auxiliary and graduated from Quincy High School in 1934. Her hobbies included sewing, playing cards and golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Miriam Suzanne Snyder; six brothers, Harold, Donald Max, Gaylord, Claude, Duane and Robert; and a sister, Dolores Heath.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Snyder (Thomas) Sturm of Dothan; three grandchildren, David (Cynthia) Sturm of Bangor, Maine; Scott (Michelle) Sturm of Ashford; and Marie (Steven) Stanford of Cullman; six great-grandchildren, Cathrynn Sturm, Elizabeth Sturm and Andrew Sturm, all of Bangor, Maine; Matthew Sturm of Ashford; and Mary Katherine Stanford and Thomas Jackson Stanford, both of Cullman; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Rebecca O'Connor and Bethany O'Connor, both of Bangor, Maine; two brothers, Paul (Betty) Heath and David A. (LaDona) Heath, both of Quincy, Ohio; and a sister, Lucille Pickering of Rosewood, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dorothy Love Life Care or Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Tillman Reid

Funeral services for James Tillman Reid, 86, of Danville will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, Tim Herron and Elders David Guttery and Darrell Chambers officiating, with Burial in Hartselle Memory Gardens.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reid died Sunday, Feb. 8, at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Lawrence County. He was a member and deacon of the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Trebie Ryan Reid; and his parents, Henry Martin and Dora Lee Tillman Reid.

Survivors include his wife, Bebe Helen Reid of Danville; a daughter, Martha Jean (Hulen) Chambers of Huntsville; a stepson, Kenny (Jodie) McCormick of Danville; three grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Reid, Billy Melson, Willard Key, Tracy Chambers, Tony Chambers and Kenny McCormick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Key and Hulen Chambers.

Visitation will be form 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Audry H. Sampieri

Funeral services for Audry H. Sampieri, 82, of Jasper will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Kilgore-Green Chapel, with Burial in Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.

Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sampieri died Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Veterans Administration Home in Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Ethel Gilbert Sampieri; two brothers, Milton Sampieri and Carl Sampieri; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Sampieri and Grace Sampieri.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Mauldin Sampieri of Jasper; and two brothers, Bryan Sampieri of Madison and Davis (Jean) Sampieri of Cordova.

Visitation was Monday.

Elizabeth Ann Pritchett Sparks

Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann Pritchett Sparks, 73, of Albertville were Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at First Baptist Church-Albertville, the Revs. David Askins and Mike Johnson officiating, with Burial in Memory Hill Cemetery. The body lay in state one hour prior to the service.

Albertville Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sparks died Friday, Feb. 6, at Albertville Nursing Home. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Albertville, an English teacher and McCord Elementary School librarian, a Girls In Action leader and Girl Scout leader, member of the Greenlawn Garden Club and Albertville Study Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray S. and Ammie Karr Pritchett; and a brother, Don Michael Pritchett.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ken Sparks; two daughters, Camellia "Candy" Susan Sparks (Gary) Moore of Prattville and Joan Lee Sparks (Peter) Moore of Hanceville; a sister, Virginia Ray Baird of Albertville; two sisters-in-law, Polly McCarver of Prattville and Jean Pritchett of New York; a niece, Connie Jenkins of Albertville; three nephews, Andrew Pritchett of New York, Sam McCarver of New Jersey and Steve McCarver of Montgomery; and a grandson, Joshua Wallace Moore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Albertville First Baptist Church Medical Clinic Building Fund, Main St., Albertville.

Ethel Nadine Pierce

Graveside services for Ethel Nadine Pierce, 87, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Cullman City Cemetery, John Richter officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pierce died Monday, Feb. 9, at Woodland Village Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Cullman County to Stephen Presley and Ruth O'Neil Daniel. She was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Doyle Pierce; a sister, Orene Shaw; three brothers, Lester, Henry and James Daniel; and a sister-in-law, Imogene Daniel.

Survivors include two sons, Dwight Pierce of Cullman and Keith (Cynthia) Pierce of Florida; a daughter, Janice (Robert) Martin of Cullman; a brother, Donald (Nell Ann) Daniel of Cullman; four grandchildren, Tracie (Kevin) Kirkwood, Dion (Curt) Brown, Cynthia (Scott) Bartle and Alex Pierce; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Kirkwood, Jakob Kirkwood, John Owen Brown and Joshua Bartle; and three sisters-in-law, Bonzie Daniel Key, Evelyn Sparks and Betty Hood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County or the Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Dale Calvert

Graveside services for Robert Dale Calvert, 71, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Bowmans Chapel Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Calvert died Friday, Feb. 6, in Cullman. He was born in Cullman County on June 15, 1932, to Ed and Lizzie Chatham Calvert.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Thompson.

Survivors include a son, Philip Calvert of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Gina Lind of Awhatukee, Ariz. and Renee Nale of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren in Arizona; and two great-grandchildren in Arizona.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Hazel Avery Stricklin

Funeral services for Hazel Avery Stricklin, 86, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Addington Chapel, Paul Campbell and Dillion Calvert officiating, with Burial in Addington Chapel Cemetery in Bremen.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stricklin died Monday, Feb. 9, in Bremen. He was born April 20, 1917, in Cullman County to Ottis and Cordie Calvert Stricklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Olvin Stricklin, Olen Stricklin, Tom Stricklin, Dewitt Stricklin and an infant brother who died at birth.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Stricklin of Bremen; one daughter, Bobbie (Tommy) Parker of Bremen; one son, Gerald (Gilda) Stricklin of Cullman; three sisters, Helen Buttram, Doris (Rayvee) Harbison and Bonnie Ward, all of Gardendale; three grandchildren, Brad (Timmi) Parker, Bruce (Marlene) Parker and Ginger (Anthony) Sams; and four great-grandchildren, Heath Parker, Paige Parker, Nick Parker and Clara Parker.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vassie M. McMinn

Funeral services for Vassie M. McMinn, 87, of Franklin, Tenn., formerly of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Allen Livengood officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McMinn died Monday, Feb. 9, in Franklin, Tenn. She was a homemaker. She was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Alabama to Reno and Nettie Rodgers Wooten.

She was preceded in death by parents; and her husband, C.A. "Jack" McMinn.

Survivors include a daughter, Henrietta (Elton) Parker of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Phillips of Cullman and Flora Wensel of Carbon Hill; two brothers, Forrest Wooten of Naples, Fla., and Roy Wooten of Cullman; two grandchildren, Roddy (Sandra) Parker and Jeanene (Trey) Vaughn; and two great-granddaughters, Casey and Ally Vaughn.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Bonny Benefield Binford

Graveside services for Bonny Benefield Binford, 45, of Pinson will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Cullman Memory Gardens, the Rev. Gary McRae officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Binford died Sunday, Feb. 8, at her residence. She was born June 16, 1958, in Arab to Ulon C. and Billie Jo Humphries Benefield. She was a claims advisor with Social Security Administration.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Binford of Pinson; a brother, Wesley (Regina) Benefield of Baileyton; and two nieces, Janna and Tiffany Benefield of Baileyton.

No visitation is planned.

Frances B. Glass

Graveside services for Frances B. Glass, 88, of West Point, formerly of Hueytown, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Valhalla Cemetery, Dr. Edward Hayes and Peggy Merrit officiating.

Valhalla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Glass died Tuesday, Feb. 10. She was a member of Cullman First Baptist Church and former member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown. She was a past president of the Hueytown Culture Club and a current member of the Cullman Culture Club. She was an ambassador for the city of Hueytown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Glass Sr.

Survivors include one son, Charles R. Glass Jr. of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Gayle Phillips of West Point; one brother, Murray Byrd of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Tillman Reid
