Clint Walker

Funeral services for Clint Walker, 37, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, the Revs. Roland Westmoreland and Glenn McCain officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walker died Thursday, March 11, at his residence. He was born April 7, 1966, in Birmingham to Jerome C. and Mitzi McCombs Walker. He was a machinist for Americold. He was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother; his wife, Jennifer Purser Walker; a daughter, Rena Walker; a brother, Tim Walker; a niece, Jessie Walker; and a nephew, Andrew Walker, all of Vinemont.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Aaron K. Phillips

Funeral services for Aaron K. Phillips, 68, of Clio, Mich., will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Brown Funeral Home in Flint, Mich., with Burial in Flint Memorial Park.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Phillips died Wednesday, March 10, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Gadsden to A.A. and Annie Shedd Phillips. He was raised and attended school in Holly Pond. He served in the Army for three years. In 1988, he retired from General Motors in Flint after 30 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local #659. He loved boxing.

He was preceded in death by one son, Everett.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Phillips of Clio; two sons, Eric Nixon and Michael A. Phillips of Flint; one daughter, Lisa Nixon of Flint; two sisters, Sarah Phillips Clayburn of Madison and Cinda Phillips Williams of Somerville; and seven grandchildren.

Charles 'C.L.' Gasser

Funeral services for Charles "C.L." Gasser, 64, of Cullman, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Fr. Kevin McGrath officiating, with Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gasser died Friday, March 12, at his residence. He was born Sept. 9, 1939, to Paul and Marie Tekulve Gasser. He was retired from Americold after 34 years of service.

Survivors include two brothers, Bill (Carol) Gasser of Austin, Texas, and Bud (Pat) Gasser of West Point; three sisters, Polly Morgan of Anniston and Helen Handley and Jody (Butch) Buxton, both of Cullman; three nephews; four nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-niece.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Rosary is at 7:30 p.m.

Hubert Leon Terry

Funeral services for Hubert Leon Terry, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Tony Tidwell officiating, with Burial in Fairview Methodist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Terry died Friday, March 12, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1915. He was employed by the state of Alabama.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Motes Walker Terry; two sons, Jimmy Charles (Glenda) Terry and Jeffery Leon (Kathy) Terry; one stepson, Mike (Sherry) Motes; one daughter, Carolyn (Doris Wayne) Clem; one stepdaughter, Betty Perdue; two half sisters, Marlene Terry and Doricene Jefferys; one stepsister, Marie Jefferys; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday.

Mary S. Hughey

Memorial services for Mary S. Hughey, 93, of Carrollton, Ga., will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home, the Rev. Gordon Willingham officiating, with interment in the Carrollton City Cemetery.

Almon Funeral Home of Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hughey died Friday, March 12, at the home of her granddaughter in Watkinsville, Ga. She was born in Cullman County to Augustus and Martha Kreitner Seibenhener, early settlers of Cullman County. She and her husband, Garney A. Hughey, moved to Carrollton in 1929 when Mr. Hughey began working at the AandM School, now the State University of West Georgia. They lived in a log cabin on the campus.

Mrs. Hughey began serving school lunches as a PTA mother at Maple Street School in 1936. This became the school lunch program, and she was a manager of the school's cafeteria for 46 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Carrollton and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 143 for 62 years, holding several offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include one son, James A. (Jo Lovvorn) Hughey; one sister, Mildred Seibenhener of Cullman; four grandchildren, Karl (Becky Gentry) Hughey, Mike Hughey, Tony Hughey and Karan (Sammy) Burgdorf; four great-granddaughters, Heather (Bobby) Ansley, Julie Hughey, Beca Tucker and Katelyn Burgdorf; and special friend, Jesse Reed.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 143.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gene Kelly

Funeral services for Gene Kelly, 56, of Holly Pond will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Arab Memorial Chapel.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelly died Saturday, March 13, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Marshall County to Olven Elvin and Laura Maxine Harden Kelly.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Kelly of Holly Pond; one daughter, Erica Leak of Holly Pond; and three brothers, Terry Kelly, Phillip Kelly and James Tracey Kelly, all of Arab.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners or the American Diabetes. Associating.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. today.

Charles Dovard Howse

Funeral services for Charles Dovard Howse, 64, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Woodland Village Nursing Home, the Rev. Harold Widner officiating, with Burial in Nesmith Methodist Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Howse died Sunday, March 14, at Woodland Village Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 14, 1940, to Lee and Carrie Reid Howse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Stevens; and a brother, Norman Howse.

Survivors include two brothers, James "Snag" (Clariece) Howse of Decatur and A.L. "Bud" (Earline) Howse of Warrior; two nephews, Stanley Howse and Kirk (Martha) Stricklin; and a niece, Brenda (Ronnie) Bridges.

Visitation was Monday.

Loma C. Johnson

Funeral services for Loma C. Johnson, 86, of Pelham, formerly of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Elder Guy Hunt officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, March 13, at her residence. She was born Nov. 15, 1917, to James R. and Dora Anderson Chambers. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, James M. (Lena) Johnson of Bessemer; a daughter, Jeraldean J. (Jack Donley) Whitmire of Pelham; two grandchildren, Joseph Brian Johnson and Timothy J. Johnson; and a great-grandchild, Bria G. Johnson.

Visitation was Monday.

Loyd 'Curly' White

Funeral services for Loyd "Curly" White, 81, of Joppa will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Arab Memorial Chapel, Tony Thomas officiating, with Burial in Gilliam Springs Cemetery.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White died Sunday, March 14, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Alabama to Louis C. and Dixie Jones White. He was retired from Walker Brothers in Baileyton. He was a member of Simcoe United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maurine Johnson White of Joppa; three sons, L.B. (Joyce) White of Hulaco, Randy (Janett) White of Oxford and Tony (Kathleen) White of Huntsville; five daughters, Joyce Maze of Arab; Bobbie (Elgin) Guthrie of Fairview, Patricia (J.C.) Smith of Hulaco, Martha (Daniel) Freeman of Addison and Rita (Garry) Young of Hulaco; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Rachel Renee Hester

Funeral services for Rachel Renee Hester, 20, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Abundant Life Fellowship, the Rev. James Aaron and Johnny Freeman officiating, with Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sipsey. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Hester died Saturday, March 13, in Bremen.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Winkie and Elonzo Hester and Judge T. Key; and an aunt, Rachel Schafer.

Survivors include her father, Barry Hester of Cullman; her mother, Sharon Hester of Cullman; a daughter, Sadie Hester of Cullman; a brother, Bradley Hester of Cullman; grandparents, Jimmy and Margie Burton of Cullman; great-grandparents, Matteline and Howard Burton and Ellie Key, all of Jasper; aunts and uncles, David and Carol Aderholt of Cullman, Donald Burton of Bremen, Linda and Jimmy Mauldin, Kim and Terry Hester, Drew and Larry McClusky, all of Jasper, Jan and Bobby Hester of California, and Billy Hester of Jasper; and three special cousins, Jeff Aderholt, Joe Burton and Kayla Aderholt.

Visitation was Monday.

Ruby Presley Cutts

Funeral services for Ruby Presley Cutts, 94, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Hanceville, the Rev. Truman Davis officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

McConnell Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cutts died Saturday, March 13, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in the White City community to Charles Arthur and Ethel Massey Presley. She graduated from Cullman High School in 1926. She was married in 1931 to Jack Cutts for 50 years until his death in 1981. She retired from White City Junior High lunchroom as manager. She was a past member of the Bolte Home Demonstration Club. In earlier years, she had served as pianist at Edgewood Baptist Church. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church until she moved to Athens in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Edwin Cutts; a sister; two brothers; and a nephew.

Survivors include a brother, William D. (Nancy Cutts) Presley of Athens; a grandson, Charles E. "Chuck" Jr. (Robin) Presley of Pelham; three nieces, Joy Allen, Laura Lee Lide and Becky Presley, all of Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 492 County Road 582, Hanceville, Ala. 35077.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Lide, Mark Reeves, the Rev. Grad Tanner, Gary Burgess, Roger Starnes and Doug Rece.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church just prior to the service.

Bill W. Oliver

Funeral services for Bill W. Oliver, 85, of Boaz will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Rowan McRae Chapel, Shannon Pullen, Scott Bryant and Ralph Hagood officiating, with Burial in Carnes Chapel Cemetery.

Rowan McRae Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oliver died Sunday, March 14. He was born June 8, 1918, to Rufus and Buna Mayo Oliver. He was retired from Republic Steel in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Marion Oliver.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Oliver of Boaz; his son, Billy W. (Sharon) Oliver of Holly Pond; a daughter, Linda (Don) Bouldin of Boaz; four grandchildren, Jarrod Oliver, Justin Oliver, Jason Bouldin and Jennifer Beck; five great-grandchildren, Lexi Oliver, Jacob Oliver, Madison Bouldin, Emmalee Beck and Makenlee Beck; and a sister, Delilah Oliver of Boaz.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Oliver, Justin Oliver, Jason Bouldin, Jeff Beck, Vernon Oliver and Eugene Oliver.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Oliver and Verlon Oliver.

Charles Dovard Howse

Funeral services for Charles Dovard Howse, 64, of Cullman were Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Harold Widner officiating, with Burial in Nesmith Methodist Cemetery.

Funeral services for Ruby Christine Jones, 85, of Fredericksburg, Texas, formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Randy Owens officiating, with Burial in Fairview Baptist Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday, March 13, in Fredericksburg, Texas. She was born Dec. 26, 1918, to Ollie Paul and Arilla Estelle Harper Chandler. She was a teacher. She was a graduate of Auburn University and served as home economics teacher from 1951 until February 1958, when she was appointed as an Alabama State Home Economics Supervisor. She served as such until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and worshipped for many years at the East Cullman Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin Jones; and a son, Larry Lester Phillips.

Survivors include a son, Terry Russell (Peggy) Phillips of Fredericksburg, Texas; two grandchildren, Helen Obenshane and David Phillips; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.
