Stephen W. Kilgo

Graveside services for Stephen W. Kilgo, 52, of Columbus, Ohio, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at Cullman Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Kilgo died Monday, May 17, at his residence. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and Purdue University with a master of science degree in computer science. He was an information technology consultant at American Management Systems for 22 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alpheus and Perle Kilgo and Henry and Katie Cordes; and his beloved pet, Amber.

Survivors include his parents, Eddie and Evelyn Kilgo of Cullman; dear friends, Cynthia Hunt, Tracy and Rob Plummer, and Joanna Clayton and Daryl and Judy Kirkland; and many beloved cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, No. 250, Dallas, Texas 75244 or the Compass program for preventing homelessness at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Clifton Haynes

Funeral services for Clifton Haynes, 87, of Arab will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at Arab Memorial Chapel, Randy Burtram and Gary McRae officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Haynes died Monday, May 18, at Marshall Medical Center North.

William Keith Jackson

Memorial services for William Keith Jackson, 48, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Bremen, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Fort Caroline United Methodist Church.

Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jackson died Tuesday, May 18. He graduated from Cold Springs High School in Bremen and then served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years. Following his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer, he was employed by the United States Postal Service. Mr. Jackson was also a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 309 and the Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Dwight and Doris Vivalene Jackson; and a brother, Jeffrey Robin Jackson, all of Cullman.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Jackson; a daughter, Heather (Tom) Neal; a son, Matthew (Stephanie) Jackson; two stepdaughters, Sara and Laura Root; two granddaughters, Lillian Neal and Alyssa Jackson, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Lana (Richard) Heinel; a nephew, Scott Heinel; and a stepmother, Sue Jackson of Cullman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, Ga. 30368-2454.

James 'Max' Lewis

Funeral services for James "Max" Lewis, 70, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Dr. Kevin R. Davidson officiating, with Burial in Beal Memorial Cemetery with Army military honors.

Emerald Coast Funeral Home of Ft. Walton Beach is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lewis passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 10. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a resident of Fort Walton Beach since 1975. He was a former vendor for Frito Lay. He then worked for Campbell's Storm Window and Door Company as a glazier, and for the past two years had worked for Okaloosa Coordinated Transportation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Morgan and Lessie Brown Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan; one daughter, Sheila Presson of South Carolina; two sons, James R. Lewis of California and Mark A. Lewis of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Mary Hays and Nell McGriff, both of Cullman.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Inez Hamrick Powell

Funeral services for Inez Hamrick Powell, 86, of Hanceville are incomplete and will be announced by Moss-Service Funeral Home. Mrs. Powell died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Millard E. Arnold

Funeral services for Millard E. Arnold, 91, of Bremen will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Addington Chapel Methodist Church, Paul Campbell and David Richards officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Arnold died Wednesday, May 19, at his residence. He was born Jan. 9, 1913, to James and Jennie Kilburn Arnold in Greenwood, Miss. He came to Alabama with his family in 1932. He was retired from U.S. Steel in 1978 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Addington Chapel Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Malcom, Monroe, Greeley and Picket Arnold.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Stricklin Arnold; three sons, Joe (Brenda) Arnold, Jack (Sybil) Arnold and Mark (Londa) Arnold; a daughter, Carol (Wayne) Giles; seven grandchildren, Leslie (Freddie) Blalock, Shannon (Leslie) Arnold, Chris (Trish) Arnold, Kevin (Leah) Arnold, Jennifer (Trent) Boyd, Leticia (Brian) Pouliot and Karmin (Michael) Lytle; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Inez Hamrick Powell

Funeral services for Inez Hamrick Powell, 86, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Powell died Wednesday, May 19.

Ambus Wayne Wisner

Funeral services for Ambus Wayne Wisner, 65, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church, Malcolm Carter II and Jamin Grubbs officiating, with Burial in Baldwin Heights Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Wisner died Wednesday, May 19, at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1938, in Alabama to Ambus and Olmer Hankey Wisner. He was a maintenance worker for 33 years with 3M Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Holmes Wisner; a daughter, Melissa (Greg) Blackwood; a son, Mark (Tina) Wisner; two brothers, Dillard Wisner and Tommy Wisner; and two grandchildren, Haley Wisner and Matthew Wisner.

Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. today.

Harold Thomas Rains

Graveside services for Harold Thomas Rains, 74, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at Cullman City Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rains died Wednesday, May 19, at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Cullman to Willard Thomas and Lena Mae Bishop Rains.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, June Rains Wood and Carolyn Rains Wood.

Survivors include a brother, Wayne Rains of Fulton, Texas; and five sisters, Wanda Wesley and Ilene Rains, both of Cullman; Margie Lott and Inez Kallenbach, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Yuvonne Lou Kotopka of Rockledge, Fla.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Ruby Jean Speegle

Funeral services for Ruby Jean Speegle, 72, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Casey Crompton and Harold Johnson officiating, with Burial in Fellowship Baptist Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Speegle died Thursday, May 20, at her residence. She was born April 5, 1932, in Texas to Earnest Dewey and Ruby Lois Morris Bayless. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sons, Jeremy Speegle and Bobby Joe Speegle, both of Cullman, and Ronnie (Shela) Veal of Decatur; four daughters, Melinda (David) Sansing, Jeanie (David) Caples and Tina Speegle, all of Cullman, and Diane Vanburen of Tennessee; a brother, Earl (Pat) Bayless of Tennessee; three sisters, Barbara (George) Johnston, Helen Caughran and Doris (Pop) Gatewood, all of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Fred H. Grund

Funeral services for Fred H. Grund, 85, of Foley, formerly of Hanceville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at St. Jude's By The Sea Lutheran Church in Gulf Shores, the Rev. Deral Rollings officiating, with Burial in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.

Pine Rest Funeral Home of Foley is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Grund died Thursday, May 20.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Carol King of Foley, Marilyn Denise Henderson of Birmingham and Patricia Yvonne Roper of Montevallo; a son, James Larry Grund of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Carl Grund of Hanceville and John Grund of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's By The Sea Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1263, Gulf Shores, Ala. 36549.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The Times publishes death notices one time for free. Death notices include only the name of the deceased and the funeral schedule.

The fee for full obituaries, including survivors, biographical information and a photo, is $60 for up to 10 column inches. Longer obituaries are charged $8 per inch over 10 inches.

In nearly every instance, obituaries must be provided by a funeral home.

The "Funerals Today" listing in each edition includes services being held that day for persons whose obituaries were published earlier. This listing is free.

If significant mistakes are made in an obituary by The Times, the obituary will be published a second time at no charge. A second publication because of mistakes by the funeral home or requests by family members

Dena Ozella Morgan

Funeral services for Dena Ozella Morgan, 93, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Randy Moon officiating, with Burial in Addington's Chapel Cemetery in Bremen.

Hance-ville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Morgan died Thursday, May 20, in Cullman. She was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Cullman County to Issac and Lela Baggett Morgan. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Kelly School for two years, West Point for 14 years and Cold Springs for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Odes Morgan; and two sisters, Stella Waldrip and Melba Hancock.

Survivors include three sisters, Dera Arnold of Gardendale, Pauline Cruce of Bremen and Lorene Gentle of Scottsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edgar Robert Henderson

Funeral arrangements for Edgar Robert Henderson, 88, of Holly Pond will be announced later by the funeral home.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henderson died Friday, May 21, at Marshall Medical Center North in Arab.

Antonio Manuell Shepherd

Graveside services for Antonio Manuell Shepherd, 21, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Cemetery, James Moore officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shepherd died Wednesday, May 19, at his residence. He was born June 26, 1982, in Cullman. He was a manager for McDonald's.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Shepherd of Cullman; his grandmother, Jewell Dean Shepherd of Cullman; and his grandfather, Wayne C. Shepherd of North Carolina.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Magdalene H. Isbell

Funeral services for Magdalene H. Isbell, 83, of Meridian, Miss., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Stephens Funeral Chapel, the Rev. James A. Ruffin officiating, with Burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.

Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Isbell died Thursday, May 20, at Beverly Health Care. She was a retired sales clerk at a department store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Isbell; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Jimmy Isbell of Meridian and John Michael Isbell of Cullman; a sister, Ruth Wyatt of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Blanch Heath of Birmingham and Ruby Heath of Buchanan, Ga.; six granddaughters, Jennifer Isbell Harrell of Birmingham, Natalie Isbell Drake and Virginia Isbell, both of Cullman, Dr. Deanna Isbell Price, Julie Isbell and Katherine "Katie" Isbell, all of Meridian, Miss.; and two great-granddaughters, Ashleigh Drake of Cullman and Isabel Price of Meridian, Miss.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
