Edgar R. 'Ed' Henderson

Funeral services for Edgar R. "Ed" Henderson, 88, of Holly Pond will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, the Revs. Randy Burtram and Earl Mitchell officiating, with Burial in Union Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henderson died Friday, May 21, at Marshall Medical Center North in Arab. He was born May 29, 1915, in Blount County to Robert and Mary Elizabeth Sanders Henderson. He was a farmer and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Gertrude Love Henderson; two brothers, Julius Henderson and Wesley Henderson; and four sisters, Ethel Bullard, Pauline Tolbert, Gertrude Tidwell and Ella Tadlock.

Survivors include four sons, Sherrell Henderson of Milan, Tenn.; Melvin (Sandra) Henderson of Arab; Dale (Becky) Henderson of Baileyton; and Steve Henderson of Huntsville; one daughter, Sue Henderson Tipton of Holly Pond; one brother, Eugene Henderson of Locust Fork; one sister, Grace (Esco) Walker; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George Harold Bates

Memorial services for George Harold Bates, 80, of Birmingham, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Vinesville Baptist Church, the Rev. Larry Morris officiating, with Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the church.

John's-Ridout's Funeral Parlor's Southside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bates died Friday, May 21. He was a native of Cullman and a longtime resident of Birmingham. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as a radioman. A member of Cahaba Heights Baptist Church, he was a former longtime member of Vinesville Baptist Church, where he served in many leadership roles. Next to his family, his greatest love was working with his church, teaching and worshipping.

Survivors include his loving wife and companion of 55 years, Nattilee Bates of Birmingham; one daughter, Carolyn (Anthony) Joseph of Columbiana; one brother, Monroe Bates of Altoona; two sisters, Evelyn Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Marie (Clifton) Martin of Hayden; three grandchildren, Gregory Wesson of Birmingham, Tonya (Barry) Phillips of Alabaster and Ashley Joseph of Raleigh, N.C.; five great-grandchildren; one aunt; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins from Birmingham and Cullman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Vinesville Baptist Church.

Billy Kennamer

Graveside services for Billy Kennamer, 68, of Guntersville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Diamond Cemetery.

Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kennamer died Friday, May 21, at his residence. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. His son, Kenny, alongside his wife, Ashley have a business in Cullman called the Tool Shed.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Kennamer; and a son, Kenny (Ashley) Kennamer of Muscle Shoals.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Parker, Luther Kirkland, Phillip Pike, Jimmy Littlefield and Doug Boles.

Visitation was Saturday.

Karie Wade Yancy

Funeral services for Karie Wade Yancy, 53, of Eva will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Ronnie Jetton officiating, with Burial in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Yancy died Saturday, May 22 at his residence. He was born Oct. 29, 1950, in Cullman County to Gurlie Belton and Lonie Dye Yancy. He was an automotive technician and a member of the Cullman Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Drinkard Yancy; two sons, Timothy Wayne (Julie) Yancy and Mark Wade Yancy of Cullman; a brother, Terry (Pam) Yancy of Cullman; a sister, Sharon (Gene) Binkley of Hendersonville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Magdylan Jill Yancy, Raigan Brook Litteral, Lindsey Brianna Cole, Tucker Yancy Bennett and Logan Cole Bennett; three stepchildren, Tabitha Lee Cole, Charles Wayne McNabb and Tiffany Dawn McNabb; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Earl Lee Klepser

Earl Lee Klepser, 82, of Good Hope died May 24, 2004. He was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Milford, Mich., to William Harrison and Metta Hazel Chenoweth Klepser. Mr. Klepser, a World War II veteran, received many awards. Among these are the Asiatic Pacific (four stars), the Philipine Liberation (two stars) and the World War II Victory Medal. He served on the PT129 in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife, O'Reba Weeks Klepser; sons, James Klepser and wife, Sherrie, of Howell, Mich., and Jeffrey Klepser of Milford, Mich.; granddaughters, Leah Klepser and Lauren Klepser, both of New Hudson, Mich; sister, Wilma Wilson of Goshen, Ind.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marge Johonnot.

A service will be announced later. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Cullman, general fund.

James Mitchell Blair

Funeral services for James Mitchell Blair, 74, of Trinity will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, Pastor Al Norton officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Blair died Monday, May 24, at his residence. He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Cullman County to Rufus Ervin Blair and Ruby Mae South. He was retired from Monsanto and Amoco.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan Blair of Massey; three daughters, Denise Blair of Tuscaloosa, Deborah Ward of Addison and Zane Ann Roberts of Hartselle; a sister, Robbie Mize of Good Hope; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one niece, Caron Whitlock.

Pallbearers will be Danny Whitlock, Kenneth Bolton, Roger Gibson, Matt Johnson, Jed Roberts and Frank Ward.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Mildred Louise Pollard

Funeral services for Mildred Louise Pollard, 79, of Eva will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating, with Burial in Cook Cemetery in Falkville.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pollard died Tuesday, May 25, at her residence.

James Allen Whitehead

Funeral services for James Allen Whitehead, 64, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at West Side Baptist Church, Frank Butts, Tommy Graves and Derald Briscoe officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Whitehead died Tuesday, May 25, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton. He was born April 11, 1940, in Cullman. He was a retired foreman for the city of Cullman Water Dept. He worked for the city of Cullman for 30 years. He was a Gideon for several years until his illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Elmo Whitehead.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Heaton Whitehead of Cullman; his mother, Mattie Wilson Whitehead; a son, Joseph A. (Connie) Whitehead of Cullman; a sister, Mary Ann (Eugene) James of Columbus, Ga.; five grandchildren, Alecia Whitehead, Cody Whitehead, Patrick Whitehead, Brandi (Adam) Holmes and Stacy (Lee) Bates; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Holmes and Harmony Holmes.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sharon Lee Cooper

Graveside services for Sharon Lee Cooper, 61, of Bremen were Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Cold Springs Cemetery in Bremen, the Rev. Tommy Graves officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cooper died Wednesday, May 26, in Bremen. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Nov. 27, 1942, to Orville and Mabel Hill Brewer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Tony Hensley of Bremen; two daughters, Kimberly (Warren) Lilke of Gulf Port, Miss. and Paula Hensley of Gulf Port, Miss.; two sisters, Vickie (Billy) Manning of Bremen and Rhonda (Charles) Duncan of Atlanta, Ga.; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Viola McGriff

Funeral services for Viola McGriff, 88, of Prattville and Hanceville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at Memory Gardens Chapel in prattville, the Revs. Randy Tucker and Jim McGriff and Dr. David McGowin officiating, with Burial in Memory Gardens in Prattville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. McGriff died Wednesday, May 26, in Hanceville. She was born June 11, 1915, in Portland, Ark., to George Norman and Ada Mehearg Richardson Crim. She was a longtime resident of Prattville and more recently of Hanceville. She was a member of Prattmont Baptist Church in Prattville for many years before uniting with First Baptist Church of Hanceville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris McGriff.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David McGowin of Hanceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carol McGriff of Coban, Guatemala; three grandchildren, Dave McGowin of Hanceville; Keeley McGriff and Brantley McGriff of Coban, Guatemala; one great-grandchild, Matthew McGowin of Hanceville; two sisters, Peggy Peterson of Montgomery and Patsy Head of Pleasanton, Texas; one brother, Roy Richardson of Dadeville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Gideons, the Harris McGriff Scholarship Fund at Prattmont Baptist Church, Prattville, or to the Cancer Society.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Randy Jerome Drummond

Funeral services for Randy Jerome Drummond, 41, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel, with Burial in Shady Grove Cemetery in Bremen.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel-Jasper is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Drummond died Wednesday, May 26, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Russell Drummond; and his father, Robert Elmer Drummond.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Dooley Drummond; two sons, Josh Drummond and Adam Drummond; two sisters, Cathy (Donald) Foster and Connie (Buster) Bell; and two brothers, Michael (Angie) Drummond and Lamar Drummond (Lisa) Drummond, all of Bremen.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Keith 'Bill' Jackson

Memorial services for William Keith "Bill" Jackson will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Kinney Grove Baptist Church.

Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jackson died Tuesday, May 18.

Robert Edwin White Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Edwin White Sr., 76, of Cullman will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at the chapel of Sacred Heart Monastery, Father Pat Sullivan officiating, with Burial in Sacred Heart Monastery Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White died Saturday, May 29, at his residence. He was born April 5, 1928, in Jefferson County to Tillman and Elizabeth Miles White. He was a longtime resident of Hoover and a more recent resident of Cullman. He was a member of the United States Air Force before graduating from Auburn University in 1952. He was a retired sales manager for Firestone Tire Co. After retiring, he did volunteer work, including working for St. Vincent's Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kathryn Adams White.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Ingram White; two sons, Robert E. (Cyndi) White Jr. and Timothy (Anne) White; one daughter, Lisa (Robert) Kahlstorf; one stepson, Billy (Rhonda) Blackerby; one stepdaughter, Kathy Yates; one brother, Tillman (Annette) White; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County or Benedictine Manor of Cullman.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Monastery.

Lallie Faye Harris

Funeral services for Lallie Faye Harris, 75, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Andy Coffey and Delbert Freeman officiating, with Burial in Fellowship Cemetery in Spring Hill.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harris died Friday, May 28, in Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born December 19, 1928, to W.O. and Gracie Irene Legg Jones. She was a homemaker and a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at First Assembly of God in West Cullman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, David Todd York.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Harris of Cullman; one son, Steven (Louise) McAfee of Douglasville, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara (David) York of Cullman; two stepchildren, Bo Harris of Pensacola, Fla., and Jill Von Rotz of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Gladys (Troy) Bradford of Cullman and Betty (Howard) Ratliff of Powder Springs, Ga.; two grandchildren, Scottie and Jason York; two stepgrandchildren, Nicole and Lorelie Harris; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jackson and Forrest York.

Pallbearers will be Scott York, Stan Jones, Randy Bradford, John York, Matt Bradford and Bo Harris.

Visitation was Saturday.
