Emogene 'Gene' Banks

Funeral services for Emogene "Gene" Banks, 77, of Vinemont will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Banks died Saturday, June 19, at her residence. She was born July 15, 1926, in Cullman County to Joiet Robert and Ruby Velma Crawford Reynolds. She was a retired lunchroom worker with the Jefferson County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Banks of Vinemont; one son, Harold Lloyd (Pam) Banks of Hayden; four daughters, Linda G. (Danny) Rhoades of Gardendale, Mary Jean McLean of Mobile, Vickie Ann (Ed) Hill of Vinemont and Bonnie Sue Banks of Montgomery; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Alice Rowena Johnson

Ms. Alice Rowena Johnson of Ivy Meadow Lane, Durham, N.C., died following surgery at University of North Carolina Hospital on Thursday, June 17, 2004. Alice, 52, born on March 10, 1952, was the beloved mother of Maria Johnson, 10, student at Forest View Elementary.

Alice, born in Birmingham, moved to Durham in 1998. She is survived by her parents, Arrie and Elmo Johnson of Cullman; brothers, J.W. Johnson of Cullman and Thomas Evans Johnson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Jim Johnson, Alicia Epperly, Lynn Duncan, Stacy Johnson, Kathryn Johnson and Karen Johnson.

Funeral services will be at Williams-McCracken Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 21, 2004, at 11 a.m., with visitation on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Durham County Special Olympics, 101 City Plaza, Durham, N.C. 27701.

Taylor Cate Hampton

Graveside services for Taylor Cate Hampton, infant, of Addison will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Sardis Cemetery in Winston County.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He died Monday, June 21 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Lessie Dodson

Funeral arrangements for Lessie Dodson, 87, are incomplete and will be announced later by the funeral home.

Lonnie Killas Overton

Funeral services for Lonnie Killas Overton, 84, of Crane Hill will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Logan Church of God, Pastor Gary Millican officiating, with Burial in Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Overton died Monday, June 21, at his residence.

Robert George 'Pop' Rodgers

Funeral services for Robert George "Pop" Rodgers, 69, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Brother Jerry Fleming officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, June 20, at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Perry, Fla. He was a builder for Warehouse Installer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Clatt and Anna Mae Griffs Rodgers.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jeanette Rodgers of Cullman; a son, Robert Dewayne Rodgers of Cullman; four daughters, Kelly Denise Rodgers Boone, Stacie Jeanette Rodgers Weller, Anna Marie Rodgers Armstrong and Jennifer Louise Rodgers Brooks, all of Cullman; three brothers, Jefferson Davis Rodgers of Moss Point, Miss., Lonnie Jackson Rodgers of Texas and Perry Lynn Rodgers of Pascugala, Miss.; a sister, Clara Nell Rodgers Spears of Willis, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

C. Clayton Robinson

C. Clayton Robinson of College Park, Ga. died June 21, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Betty Faye Cochran Robinson of Fairburn, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathie and Gordon Newton of Palmetto, Amanda and Joe Oxford of Fairburn, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Audie Robinson of Cullman; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, the Rev. Stacey Thomas officiating, with Burial in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Daniel L. Smith Sr.

Daniel L. Smith Sr., 40, of Locust Fork, passed away on June 20, 2004, at U.A.B. Hospital in Birmingham.

Mr. Smith was born in Jefferson County on Dec. 6, 1963, to Leo Smith and Juanita Townley.

He is the beloved husband of Liza Smith and the father of Daniel Leo Smith, Jr. and Lauren Brooke Smith. He is also survived by his parents, Leo and Juanita Townley Smith.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Brother Roy White officiating the service, and interment in the Tabernacle Cemetery in Locust Fork. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Flossie Winfrey Strickland

Funeral services for Flossie Winfrey Strickland, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Jimmy Scott officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Strickland died Saturday, June 19. She was born June 9, 1940, in Cullman County. She was the daughter of the late Lethie Grubbs. She was retired from Mead Coated Board.

Survivors include three daughters, Diann Burkhalter and Tammy Morris, both of Eufaula, and Darlene Elliott of Hanceville; a son, Richard Elliott of Blakely, Ga.; two brothers, Roger Winfrey of Cullman and Leroy Winfrey of Hanceville; three sisters, Elaine Pitts of Hanceville, Linda Helms of Garden City and Winnie Ballard of Vincent; and seven grandchildren, Eli, Callie, Kiel, Chance, Logan Lucas and Matthew.

Lessie Marie Dodson

Funeral services for Lessie Marie Dodson, 87, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Jack Joyner officiating, with Burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dodson died Tuesday, June 22, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 11, 1916, to William Richard and Martha Dora Burgess Shoemaker. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Recter Earnest Dodson; and two sons, George Rex Dodson and Eddie Hugh Dodson.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann O'Diam; a sister, Ethel Galin; three grandchildren, Richard Michael Thomas, Sharon Culver and Patrick O'Diam; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Cora Eunice Puckett

Funeral services for Cora Eunice Puckett, 96, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, John Richter officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Puckett died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Guyward 'Guy' Miller

Funeral services for Guyward "Guy" Miller, 55, of Decatur will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Brother Jimmy Scott officiating, with Burial in Berlin Cemetery at Mt. Carmel.

Mr. Miller died Tuesday, June 22, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton.

Robert George 'Pop' Rodgers

Funeral services for Robert George "Pop" Rodgers, 69, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Brother Jerry Fleming officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Joyce C. Hansen

Joyce C. Hansen, loving and beloved mother, called to rest Sunday, June 20, 2004. Joyce was born in Cullman on Oct. 2, 1932. Joyce was a longtime resident of Richmond, graduating from Contra Costa College with a degree in art history. She was an accomplished painter and a prize-winning quilter. A yo-yo quilt that she made won first place at the California State Fair. Joyce loved the outdoors and traveling. She was a friend to animals having worked with animal rescue groups in rehabilitating sick and injured animals.

Joyce is survived by daughters, Laura Gaines and Patricia Marks of Richmond; a son, Clay Strickland of Pinole; sisters, Shirley Wirant of Fresno and Nancy Wood of Pinole; grandchildren, Bill Profitt, Amber Davis Joseph, Jean, Julie Strickland and Cherie Marks; and five great-grandkids.

Joyce will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at Chapel of the Mission Bells, San Pablo, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004.

Funeral services for Jewel Ludy Young Robins, 86, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at Rock Creek Baptist Church, with Burial in Rock Creek Cemetery in Double Springs. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mary Ruth Pope

Funeral services for Mary Ruth Pope, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Steve Rodgers officiating, with Burial in Flint Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Pope died Thursday, June 24, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Windle Simmons

Funeral services for Windle Simmons, 63, of Logan are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Williams-McCracken Funeral Home. Mr. Simmons died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Woodland Medical Center.
