Teague

CEDAR BLUFF

Services for Grady Warren Teague, 83, of Cedar Bluff will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Revs. George Moses and Alfred Inman officiating. Burial will be in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Teague died Monday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Nancy and David Rickett of Cedar Bluff; five sons and their wives, Billy and Sue Teague and Roland and Robbie Maples, all of Rinehart, Henry L.C. and Eleanor Teague of Lindale, Ga., Larry and JoAnn Teague of Gaylesville and Rev. Dewayne and Fredia Teague of Cloudland, Ga., 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Teague, Douglas Teague, Carlton Teague, Larry Don Teague, Jason Teague, Alan Maples and William Teague.

Mr. Teague was a native of Cherokee County and was the son of the late Henry C. and Cummie Speer Teague. He attended Enon Grove Baptist Church. He was a Navy World War II veteran and a self-employed automobile mechanic.

Vieten

Services for Bryce Randall Vieten Jr., 58, of Anniston will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with Revs. Tom Hilyer and James Pardue officiating. Burial will be in Coldwater Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Vieten died Monday at UAB Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Vieten of Oxford; his parents, Bryce Vieten Sr. and Berniece Vieten of Oxford; four sons, John Vieten of Grove Hill, Bobby Vieten of Talladega, Darrell Vieten of Oxford and Scott Vieten of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, James Vieten of Ocala, Fla. and Bennie Vieten of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Connie Pardue of Crittenten, Ky.; and 13 grandchildren, John Vieten, Chris Vieten, Ashley Vice, Katlyne Vice, Lauren Vieten, Andrew Lathen, Autumn May, Joel Odom, Tyler Whatley, Jessica Vieten, Dustin Vieten, Lindsay Vieten and Jeffery Bryce Vieten.

Pallbearers will be James Vieten, Bennie Vieten, Carl Lewis, Larry Pope, Calvin McKee, Johnny Gower, Tom Hand and Thad Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Clark, Craig Higgins, Becky Williams, Caryn Pontero, Barbara Elston, Kendrick Swain, Jemal Dye, Ken Klug and associates of the Oxford Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Mr. Vieten was a resident of Calhoun County and a member of DeArmanville First Baptist Church. He was an employee of Wal-Mart Supercenter of Oxford.

Curry

Services for Vincent H. Curry, 55, of 1613 McDaniel St., will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Q.P. Woods officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Curry died Saturday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Wilson Curry; three sons, Reginald D. Curry, Michael L. Curry, Anthony Q. Curry; one parent, Ernestine Curry, and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be representatives of the United States Army.

Mr. Curry was an Army veteran.

Hill

Services for Jessie Lee Hill, 80, of 2117 Ferron Avenue, will be noon Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. O.E. Webb officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mrs. Hill died Monday at NHC Place.

Survivors include a sister, Trishia Young of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Zack Cunningham of Newark, N.J., Calvin Cunningham of Oxford; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hill was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie N. Hill, and one son, Saundra Lee Hill.

Jackson

TALLADEGA

Services for Master Sgt. (ret.) Albert Anthony Jackson, 65, of 2569 Old Shocco Road, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Cleveland Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Jones, James Nix and Johnnie McCullough officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Jackson died Sunday at Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Wesley Jackson of Talladega; a daughter, Antonina Jackson of Birmingham; three sisters, Willie M. Watters of Birmingham, Sophia Cook of Birmingham, and Thelma Dundy of Talladega; seven brothers, Quincy Jackson, Harvey Jackson, Ernest Jackson, all of Detroit, Mich., Clarence Jackson and Rollen Jackson of Talladega, Joseph Jackson of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Raymond Jackson; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers will be a military honor guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sunday School teachers and nephews.

Mr. Jackson was retired from the Air Force after more than 23 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Cleveland Baptist Church, where he taught the men's Sunday School classes. He graduated from Talladega County Training School and attended Morgan State University in Baltimore and the University of Alaska in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a member of The United Supreme Council of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Northern Lights Consistory 72.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey Jackson Sr. and Iva Barclay Jackson; a sister and four brothers.

Jennings

BYNUM

Graveside services for Willesta Jennings, 89, of Bynum will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Eastaboga Baptist Cemetery with Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jennings died Tuesday at Talladega Health Care.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Gallegly of Bynum, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Jennings was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was retired from AOD and was a member of Plum Springs Baptist Church.

Morrison

HOBSON CITY

Services for Willie Mae Morrison, 59, of 708 McDaniel St., will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Melvin Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Hobson City Memorial Gardens. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mrs. Morrison died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenora Davis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Felecia Morrison of Anniston; one son, Michare Morrison of Gadsden; and six grandchildren.

Ponder

Services for Don Earl Ponder, 63, of Anniston will be today at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Ponder died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Neita G. Ponder of Munford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jessica Ponder of Munford and Donna and Bobby Konkel of Anniston; two sons and their wives, Keith and Michelle Ponder and Chris and Heather Ponder, all of Alexandria; two sisters, Patsy R. Ponder of Anniston and Linda Johnson of Harvest; and three grandchildren, Brody Ponder, Brooke Ponder and Jared Ponder.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Mr. Ponder was a native and lifelong resident of Anniston. He was an Army veteran and was retired from AOD.

Potterfield

SOUTHSIDE

Services for Thomas E. Potterfield Jr., 72, of Southside will be today at 11 a.m. at Southside Chapel Funeral Home with Donald Grant officiating and Southside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Potterfield died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Zetha Mae Estes Potterfield of Southside; a son, Thomas E. Potterfield III; two sisters, Elizabeth Falice of Birmingham and Cupie Higgenbotham of California, and a grandson.

Mr. Potterfield was a Jackson County native. He retired from the Anniston Police Department in 1972 after 20 years of service. He also was retired from Anniston Army Depot.

LINCOLN

Services for Billy Ray Smith, 69, of Lincoln will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory. Burial will be at Forestlawn Gardens and Mausoleum. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Thursday. Complete arrangements will be announced later by the funeral home.

Tankersley

Graveside services for Ruby Mae Baker Tankersley, 92, of Anniston, will be 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Mahlon Felkins officiating. The family will receive friends today from noon to 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Mrs. Tankersley died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Jean Tankersley Hackney of Anniston; a brother, Chester Baker of Talladega; a sister, Lockie McLeod of Childersburg; a grandchild, and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jim Atkinson, George Ford, Larry Tankersley, Henry Tankersley, Sid Tankersley, John Tankersley and Greg Baker.

Mrs. Tankersley was a member of Mignon Methodist Church and was a former resident of Sylacauga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Mignon Methodist Church.
