Hardnett

ROANOKE

Services for Sheila D. (Ware) Hardnett, 42, Roanoke will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Roanoke with Rev. R.L. Heflin officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Bacon Level Community. The family will receive visitors Monday after 10 a.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Mrs. Hardnett died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Hardnett of Wadley; a daughter Skylar Hardnett of Roanoke; parents Edward and Earnestine Ware of the Bacon Level Community in Roanoke; four brothers, Dennis Ware and his wife, Judy, of Conyers, Ga., Eddy Ware and his wife, Sandra, of Roanoke, Dwight Ware and his wife, Margaret, of Charleston, S.C. and Rev. Eric Ware and his wife, Shelia, of Carrollton, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Randolph County High School in Wedowee. She was a lifelong member of the Friendship Baptist Church in the Bacon Level Community, where she served on the Usher Board and was active in many other capacities. She was a graduate of LaGrange College and later earned master's degrees from Auburn in educational psychology and specific learning disabilities. She worked for several years in education in Warm Springs, Ga., later returning to Randolph County. At the time of her death, she was a substitute teacher for Roanoke City Schools. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha national service sorority and past chairwoman of the Randolph County chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference.

Hodges

WELLINGTON

Services for George Wilburn Hodges, 74, of Wellington will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Hodges died Saturday at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

Martin

SAKS

Services for Logan Wade Martin, 1, of Saks will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Monday 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home.

The infant died Friday at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his parents, Matthew and Brandy Martin of Saks; a brother, Jonathan Martin; grandparents Clarence "Pete" and Janet Martin of Saks and Karen Rust of Columbia City, Ind.; great grandparents Franklin and Betty Dear of Columbia City; aunt and uncles, Jeremy and Lori Martin of Saks, Eric Rust and Ernie Rust, both of Columbia City.

Moon

WEDOWEE

Services for Clois Holloway Moon, 87, of Wedowee will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rocky Branch Baptist Church with Revs. Clayton Scott and Lenden Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home today from 3-8 p.m. and on Monday until one hour prior to services. The body will be at the church for one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Moon died Saturday at Wedowee Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Willie B. Moon of Wedowee and Duwayne Moon of LaGrange, Ga.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Moon, George Smith, Robbie Hampton, Luke Moon, Will Moon and Daryl Moon.

Mrs. Moon was a native of Randolph County and the daughter of Ben Edgar Holloway and Kenny Banford Holloway. She was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Moon.

Abner

WEDOWEE

Services for Alma Renthy Abner, 76, of Wedowee will be today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Revs. Ricky Emery and G.K. Abner officiating. Burial will be the church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Miss Abner died Tuesday at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke.

Survivors include four sisters, Novella Bradley, Geneva Emery and Lora A. Childers, all of Wedowee and Willie Jo Webb of Valley; and two brothers, Thomas Braxton Abner of Huguley and Buford Abner of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Marty Starkey, Myron McCormick, Jerry Rice, Larry Bradley, Whitman Bradley and Dave Bradley.

Miss Abner was born in Clay County and was the daughter of the late William David and Viola Ovelta Holloway Abner. She had been employed with Sewell Manufacturing Co., and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

COAL CITY

Services for Gracie L. Barber, 71, of Coal City, formerly of Sterrett, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with David Houston and Rev. Phillip Towery officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barber died Wednesday in Birmingham.

Survivors include her husband, Sidney A. Barber of Coal City; two daughters and their husbands, Sydney Ann and Greg Baker of Coal City and Karen and Ron Hawkins of Pell City; two sisters, Charlie Faye Brasher and Geraldine Brazier, both of Sterrett; a brother, Terry Cook of Moody; two grandchildren, Blake Tucker and Brad Davis, and several nieces and nephews.

Cooper

Services for Madeleine E. Cooper, 73, of Anniston will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with Ken Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cooper died Wednesday at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Cooper of Anniston; a son, James L. Cooper of Ahoskie, N.C.; two sisters, Nevis Roberts of Nassau, Bahamas and Enis Newbold of Spanish Well, Bahamas; and two grandchildren, Rachel Cooper and Ericka Cooper.

Pallbearers will be Vic Stallings, Randy Cortez, Rodney Cortez, Rex Cortez, Jack Goff and Bo Harris.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents.

Downing

Graveside services for Robert Edward Downing, 88, of Anniston will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. Samuel L. Downing officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Downing died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas S. Downing Sr. of Anniston, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert W. Downing, Thomas S. Downing Jr., Frank Downing, Thomas Samual Downing, Jeff Downing, John Downing and Kenneth Hartman.

Mr. Downing was a native and resident of Calhoun County. He was a retired Air Force technical sergeant and a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church of Anniston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Broughton Downing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to a favorite church.

LINCOLN

Services for David Garner, 39, of Lincoln will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. B.E. McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with Sims Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Garner died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey J. Garner of Lincoln; his parents, Otis and Yvonne Shepard of Sylacauga; a son, Rakeem Garner of Lincoln; three daughters, Jarmin Smith, Nakeshia Collins and Felicia Collins, all of Talladega; a brother, Antonio Shephard of Millbrook; two sisters, Carmela Burton of Alexander City and Melissa Strong of Newport Richie, Fla.; four grandchildren, Shereice Bibb, Tymeshika Sillmon, Tykeviah Sillmon and Mykia Swain; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dexter Truss, Sedrick Wilson, Andre Hardie, Nakia Swain, Kenny Garrett and Arthur Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Services for Ertis “Bill” Landers, 81, of Anniston will be Friday at 2 p.m. at DeArmanville United Methodist Church with Revs. Larry Knedlik and Andy Butler and Jerry Harrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home in Oxford.

Mr. Landers died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Harrell Landers; a son and daughter, Andy Landers and Linda Reid Landers, both of Anniston; a daughter-in-law and husband, Yolanda and Jim Munn of Texas; two sisters, Bernice Johnson of Huntsville and Lettie Nelson of Florida; three grandchildren, Renee Landers, Jeremy Landers and Krystal Landers; and a great-grandchild, Samantha Jade Landers.

Pallbearers will be Rogers Cobb, Tyrone Connell, Gary Crews, Dewey Hughes, Ron Searcy and Mitchell Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Catlett, Billy Chitwood, Ertis Freeman, Jerry Griffin, Earl Kemp, Johnny Ledbetter, Russell Reid and the L.M. Nelson Sunday School Class.

Mr. Landers was a native of Randolph County and had lived in Calhoun County most of his life and was retired from Blue Mountain Industries after 43 years of service. He was a member of DeArmanville United Methodist Church 50 years and a member of the L.M. Nelson Sunday School Class. He was a previous member of the administrative board and served as a trustee many years. He was preceded in death by two sons, William “Ernie” Landers and Stanley Landers, and several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Hospice of East Alabama, P.O. Box 2581, Anniston, AL 26202; or the DeArmanville United Methodist Church Building Fund.

LeJeune

ROANOKE

Services for Anthony LeJeune III, 22, of Roanoke will be today at 2 p.m. at Wadley United Methodist Church with Rev. Abi Carlisle-Wilke officiating. Burial will be in Wadley City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. LeJeune died Tuesday at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mike and Diane Smith of Wadley; his father, Francis LeJeune Jr. of Athens; a half sister, Tina Potter of Montgomery; and two half brothers, Gene Sanders of Roanoke and Frank LeJeune of Wiley, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Baker, Denver Davis, Brandon Davidson, Rusty Burroughs, Chris Cotney and Kirk Cotney.

Mr. LeJeune was born in Montgomery and was a member of Wadley United Methodist Church.
