Baxter

ALEXANDRIA

Services for Meghan Rebecca Antoinette Baxter, 19, of Alexandria will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Huddleston, David Whitten and Redge Thagard officiating. Burial will be in Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Miss Baxter died Monday at her home.

Survivors include her parents, Tony and Sherry Moore Baxter of Alexandria; a brother, Michael “Boo” Baxter of Alexandria; her grandparents, Gary and Bernice Baxter of Alexandria, Barbara and Charles Trull of Oxford and H.S. and Carolyn Moore Jr. of Destin, Fla.; great-grandparents, Ruth Johnston and Alice Griffin; and seven aunts, six uncles and many cousins.

Pallbearers will be Tony Baxter, Michael “Boo” Baxter, Tim Baxter, Chris Baxter, Jeff Pinkston, Bryan Parker, Steve Buker and Gary Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be The DD Club, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and the Donoho Class of 2000.

Miss Baxter was a 2000 graduate of The Donoho School, where she was head cheerleader. She was a sophomore at Jackson-ville State University and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, the DD Club, and the Northeast Alabama Dance Company. She was a tutor at Anniston High School with Next Start Anniston City Schools. She was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Lee Baxter; and her great-grandparents, Luke Johnston, Sanders Griffin and H.S. and Mae Moore Sr.

The family suggests donations be made to the Meghan Baxter Scholarship Fund, c/o Dee Gorey, The Donoho School, 2501 Henry Road, Anniston, AL 36207; or the Meghan Baxter Scholarship Fund at Anniston High School.

Coggins

BOWDON, Ga.

Services for Maxlyn Marie Skinner Coggins, 67, of Bowdon will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Revs. Ken Bowman and G.K. Abner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Rainwater and West Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Coggins died Wednesday at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga.

Survivors include a son, Floyd Ray Coggins Jr. of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Wynona Merritt of Ranburne; and a brother, Jim Bill Skinner of Ranburne.

Pallbearers will be Justin Pollard, Dennis Pollard, Randall Skinner, Donald Wiggins, Josh Whaley and Dean Wysner.

Mrs. Coggins was a native of Cleburne County and was the daughter of the late Henry and Pearl Ayers Skinner. She was a retired nurse and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Coggins.

TALLADEGA

Services for William H. Cokely of Talladega will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

Mr. Cokely died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Cronan

PIEDMONT

Services for William “Bill” Cronan, 77, of Piedmont will be tonight at 7 at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Smith officiating. Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Union Grove Cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Cronan died Tuesday at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cronan of Piedmont; two daughters and their husbands, Jo Ann and Carlton Williams of Ocala, Fla. and June and R.C. Shell of Piedmont; four brothers, Roland Cronan, Kenneth Cronan, Earl Cronan and Roy Cronan, all of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Carl Williams, Katrina Williams, Dawn Casey and Bill Shell; a great-grandchild, D.J. Williams; and three step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Casey, Justin Casey and Alex Casey.

Mr. Cronan was a native and lifelong resident of the Piedmont area. He was retired from SCT Yarn and was a member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont. He was a member of Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge 97 F and AM and was a Shriner.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272; or Shriner’s Children Hospital, 3521 Ratliff Road, Irondale, AL 35201.

England

MARION JUNCTION

Services for Fred Lester England Jr., 74, of Marion Junction, formerly of Lincoln, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Private Burial will follow.

Mr. England died Tuesday at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Stolz England of Marion Junction; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan J. England of Portland, Ore. and Cathy E. and Ronnie Harris of Lincoln; a son and his wife, James M. “Mike” and Susan England of Marion Junction; a brother and his wife, Charles F. and Edrie England of Centerville; and four grandchildren, Shane Harris, Cory Harris, Colby Harris and Whitley England.

Mr. England was a native of Lincoln and farmed in Marion Junction for 54 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands.. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Selma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. and Bertha Nail England; and a sister, Miriam England Whitley.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Lincoln Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 221, Lincoln, AL 35096; or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 130909, Birmingham, AL 35213.

Higgins

LEESBURG

Services for John P. “Puny” Higgins, 74, of Leesburg will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Rev. Roy Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh/Bothwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Higgins died Wednesday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Allene Humphries Higgins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy Higgins, Rodney Higgins and Secressa Higgins, all of Leesburg; a daughter and her husband, Sherry and Lee Nickles of Centre; two grandchildren, John Nickles and Josh Higgins, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Hal Sewell, Gary Sewell, Brent Brannon, Carl Clayton, Barry Higgins, Eddie Norris, Donnie Duff and Bobby Holtzclaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Vaughn, Johnny Pollard, Ritchie Pollard, Johnny Moll, Charles Garrett, Wayne Sewell and Clavin Holman.

Mr. Higgins was a native of Cherokee County and was the son of the late George and Zollie Hannah Higgins. He attended Bothwell United Methodist Church and was retired from the state of Alabama after 38 years of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bothwell United Methodist Church or Shiloh/Bothwell Cemetery Fund.

Holt

BIRMINGHAM

Services for Bessie Jean Holt, 74, of Birmingham, formerly of Talladega, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at DeForest Chapel at Talladega College with Pastor Samuel B. Holt officiating. Burial will be in Talladega Memorial Garden with Sims Funeral Service in charge.

Mrs. Holt died Monday at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Morrow of Newnan, Ga. and Janet Williams of Talladega; a son, Pastor Samuel B. Holt of Birmingham; two sisters, Gladys Clay of Gadsden and Jessie Glover of Talladega, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Worrills, Billy Wayne Hawkins, Ernest Holt Sr., Mitchell Swain, Owens Peyton Jr. and Ronald Jemison.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Life Gospel Church, P.O. Box 1055, Talladega, AL 35161.

Services for Edna L. Malloy of Roanoke will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Milstead

NEWELL

Services for Brian Kimo Milstead, 21, of Newell will be today at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Pee Wee Milstead and Ralph Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville in charge. The family will receive friends until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Milstead died Monday.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Jean Milstead of Heflin; his father, William Riley Milstead of Ozark; two sisters, Tammie Sides of Valley and Heather Roberts of Hawaii; a brother, John Richard Milstead of Pell City; two grandmothers, Marie Milstead of Lineville and Lucille Locker of Ohio; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Milstead, Chuck Milstead, Billy Hawkins, Wayne Johnson, Stacy Jewell and James Milstead.

Mr. Milstead was a native of Honolulu, Hawaii and had lived in Clay County most of his life. He was a carrier for The Anniston Star and was employed by Hunters Choice Deer Processing Co. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Moody.
