Allison

CARBON HILL

Services for Billy John Allison, 63, of Carbon Hill, formerly of Anniston, will be today at 1 p.m. at Pocahontas Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Carbon Hill Memory Gardens with honors provided by the Walker County Honor Guard. Collins-Burke Funeral Home is in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Allison died Wednesday at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Faye Allison of Carbon Hill; two sons, Michael Don Allison of Weaver and Bayon John Allison of Anniston; two daughters, Connie Sue Blades of Delaware and Audrey Ann Rasussen of Pennsylvania; four brothers, Charles Allison of Morris, Earl D. Allison of Weaver, Lacy Lee Allison of Carbon Hill and Donnie Ray Allison of Arley; a sister, Marie Prestridge of Double Springs; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles D. Allison, Michael Allison, Phillip Dale Allison, Lacy Allison, Glenn Allison, Franklin Allison and Rick Allison.

Mr. Allison was a 20-year Army veteran. He was awarded numerous medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (Seven campaigns), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm (unit), and others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lacy B. and Nettie Ola Allison; three brothers, Elbert Allison, Carlos Allison and Frank Allison; and a sister, Mildred Jackson.

BROOKLYN, N.Y.

Services for Rosa Mae Arnold, 84, of Brooklyn, N.Y., will be announced later by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mrs. Arnold died Thursday in Brooklyn.

Baker

LINEVILLE

Services for Junior Baker, 72, of Lineville will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God with Revs. Bill Heath and Joe Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The family will receive friends 4-9 tonight and until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Baker died Wednesday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Lou Baker of Lineville; a daughter, Dorothy Tapley of Barfield; four sons, Junior Ray Baker of Lineville, Danny Baker of Ashland, William Baker of Valley and Jerry Baker of Barfield; two sisters, Essie Triplett of Lineville and Eula Mae Heath of Ashland; a brother, Hubert Baker of LaGrange; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Baker, Jeremy Edmondson, Terry Triplett, Vernon Huddleston, Ronnie McCormick, Junior Morrison and David Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Overton, David Tapley and DeWayne Tapley.

Mr. Baker was a native of Randolph County and had lived in Clay County most of his life. He had been employed by Chickipeak Mfg. Co., and was a member of Faith Assembly of God.

Barger

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.

Services for U.S. Navy Electrician's Mate Second Class Charles Gavin Barger, 31, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Anniston, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Rev. Jim Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Barger died Monday at his home.

Bell

STARKVILLE, Miss.

Services for Charles Clinton Bell, 72, of Starkville will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville with Revs. Danny Waddell and Steve McCullar officiating. Burial will be in Oktibbeha Memorial Park in Starkville. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Bell died Tuesday in Pensacola, Fla.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Waddell of Jacksonville; two sons, Rodney Bell of Pontotoc, Miss. and Stacy Bell of Pensacola; two sisters, Jo Liles of Dallas, Texas and Gola Wages of Jackson, Miss.; a brother, Frankie Bell of Princeville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Shara Jenkins and Evie Perry; two great-grandchildren, Kara Perry and Brooke Perry; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Freeman

WADLEY

Services for William Argus Freeman, 69, of Wadley will be today at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Revs. Zenus Windsor, Bill Huffman and Abi Carlisle-Wilke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Freeman died Wednesday at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Freeman of Wadley; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Kenneth Adamson of Wadley; a sister, Loretta Erwin of Wedowee; and a grandchild, Jessica Barfield.

Mr. Freeman was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was an Army Korean War veteran and was self-employed. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

Hanner

TALLADEGA

Services for Bercha W. Hanner, 84, of Talladega will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home with Dr. Curtis Kelley and Rev. Allen Layton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hanner died Thursday at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Chappell of Talladega; a son, Charles H. Hanner of Talladega; two sisters, Lucynda McDowell and Vaunell Buford, both of Talladega; a brother, John T. Williams of Alpine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Williams, Rodney Keith, Jeremy Sewell, Rob Clardy, Terry Hanner and Bobby Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Byron McDowell, Venyard Williams, Bob Hurst and Herbert Miller.

Mrs. Hanner was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and had been a spinner in the textile industry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Beamon C. Hanner.

Hilliard

PELL CITY

James Edwin Hilliard, 58, of Pell City died Wednesday. Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Hilliard of Highland Home; two sons, Joe Hilliard of Highland Home and Eugene Hilliard of Covington County; four sisters, Frances L. Patterson of Pell City, Shirley Vann and Donnie Mitchell, both of Opp, and Bonnie Beckwith of De Funiak Springs, Fla.; and two brothers, Joe Frank Hilliard of Niland, Calif. and Johnny Wayne Hilliard of Florida.

Mr. Hilliard was a native of Crenshaw County, had lived in the western part of the U.S. for more than 40 years, and had lived in Niland, Calif. the past year. He was employed in the trucking industry most of his life.

Hughes

EASTABOGA

Graveside services for Frank Hughes Jr., 79, of Eastaboga will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Parker Memorial Garden with Rev. W.J. Posey officiating and Sims Funeral Service in charge.

Mr. Hughes died Wednesday at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie L. Hughes of Lilburn, Ga., and Jeffrey Hughes of Jasper; two daughters, Pam Harris of Jasper and Alberta Winston of Fresno, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son and a daughter.

Lathem

MUNFORD

Services for Lula Mae Lathem, 93, of Munford will be today at 2 p.m. at Munford Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Munford Cemetery with Talladega Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Lathem died Wednesday at Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary "Lucy" Elders of Oxford and Lee Smith of Munford; eight sons, George H. "Dan" Lathem, Aubrey D. "Duck" Lathem, William "Morg" Lathem, Roy M. "Sug" Lathem, Hershel Ray Lathem, Teddy Nappier "Ted" Lathem and Jerry O. Lathem, all of Munford, and Billy Joe "Bill" Lathem of Talladega; a sister, Dorothy Camp of Delta; two brothers, William Nappier of Hollis Cross Road and Bobby Nappier of Anniston; 33 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George A. Lathem, Jeff Lathem, Donald Elder, Max Lathem, Chad Lathem, LaDon Lathem, Teddy M. Lathem and Corey Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Elder and Justin Lathem.

Mrs. Lathem was a native of Tennessee and had lived in Munford 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Munford Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodora Lathem, and a son, Eugene Lathem.

McBurnett

LINCOLN

Services for Doris Taylor McBurnett, 83, of Lincoln will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Finley Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in Dry Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. McBurnett died Wednesday at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris McBurnett, Cory McBurnett, Casey Clark, Brian Green, Tim Vordenbaum and Terry Vordenbaum. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Thalathea Sunday School Class of Lincoln Baptist Church.

Mrs. McBurnett was a native of Lee County and had lived in Lincoln most of her life. She was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John McBurnett.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lincoln Baptist Church.
