Posey

PIEDMONT

Graveside services for Fred M. "Ted" Posey, 71, of Piedmont will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Piedmont Memory Gardens with military honors and Thompson Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Posey died Thursday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Posey of Piedmont; a daughter and her husband, Robin and John Lockridge of Piedmont; a son and his wife, Kris and Tina Posey of Piedmont; a sister and her husband, Dean and Leroy Fitzpatrick of Piedmont; and five grandchildren, Jay Lockridge, Chuck Lockridge, Sara Posey, Seth Posey and Sally Posey.

Pallbearers will be military. Honorary pallbearers will be Kris Posey, John Lockridge, Jay Lockridge, Chuck Lockridge, Mac Allen, Craig Fletcher and Ricky Case.

Mr. Posey was a native and Piedmont resident most of his life. He was retired from the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a former employee of Anniston Army Depot and worked at Posey Upholstery. He was a Christian. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerrie Posey; and two brothers, Jack Posey and John D. Posey.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.

Wilson

LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C.

Lionel William Wilson, 73, of Lake Junaluska died Wednesday. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at 1465 South Lakeshore Drive, Condo A-4 in Lake Junaluska.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Wilson of Atlanta; a son, Robert Wilson of Glencoe; a daughter-in-law, Angela Wilson; a brother, David Wilson of Asheville, N.C.; a grandchild, Danielle Ruthann Wilson; two stepgrandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilson was a Methodist. He was a former employee of Russell Athletics in Chicago and had opened his own textile mills throughout Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Ireland Way Suite 201, Birmingham, AL 35205; 120 Executive Park Building 1, Asheville, N.C., 28801; or 130 South Poplar St., Florence, AL 35630.

Allen

TALLADEGA

Services for G.A. Allen, 72, of Talladega will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City with Revs. Wayne Eden, Ron Hopkins and Joe Lynn Adams officiating. Burial will be in Sterrett Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen died Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Allen; three daughters, Faye Robinson of Leesburg, Pat Watson of Ohatchee and Sandra Brantley of Lincoln; two sons, Bobby Jones and Gerald Allen, both of Talladega; a sister, Nell Howard of Vincent; a brother, Garlin Allen of Vincent; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Born in Sterrett, Mr. Allen had lived in Talladega most of his adult life. He was retired from Asbestos Local 78 in Birmingham after 35 years of service. He attended First Baptist Church of Homewood Acres in Eastaboga and Stemley Baptist Church of Talladega.

Barger

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.

Services for U.S. Navy Electrician's Mate Second Class Charles Gavin Barger, 31, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Anniston, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Brown and Kughn Memory Chapel with Rev. Jim Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Barger died Monday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Daniela "Donna" Smith Barger of Virginia Beach; a son, Tyler Ray Barger of Virginia Beach; his parents, Stanley Douglas and Frances Harvey Barger of Anniston; a sister and her husband, Crista Barger Chappell and Steven Eric Chappell of Kirksville, Mo.; a brother, Casey Dean Barger of Auburn; his grandparents, Uila M. Barger of Anniston and Mary Janet and Fred Edwards of Weaver; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Matt Holt of Anniston; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and Dorothy Smith of Anniston; two nephews, Duncan Neal Chappell and Colby Holt; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be members of the Naval Honor Guard.

Mr. Barger entered the Navy upon graduating from Anniston High School in May 1990. He completed recruit training in Great Lakes, Ill., then attended Electrician's Mate "A" School. His duty stations included the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) from April 1991 to April 1996, which included duty during the Persian Gulf War; The Trident Refit Facility in Kings Bay, Ga. from May 1996 to March 1999; and the U.S.S. Carter Hall (LSD 50) from April 1999 until his death. He received numerous awards, including the Navy Achievement and Good Conduct medals and the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Badge.

Curtis

Services for Arvel L. Curtis, 84, of Anniston will be today at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Royal L. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Mausoleum with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Curtis died Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Judith and Glenn Parker of Pell City; a son and his wife, James M. and Rebecca Bates of Anniston; a brother, Johnny M. Hawkins of Attalla; a sister, Ethel Ericson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his companion, Alma Fleming of Anniston; six grandchildren, Stacey Gay, Lee Curtis, Donnie Curtis, James M. Bates Jr., Jeri B. Shaw and Mark A. Bates; and several great-grandchildren.

Mr. Curtis was a retired captain in the Army and a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He attended Anniston Bible Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bates Curtis, and a son, Ronald Curtis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Anniston Bible Methodist Church, 5131 Glade Road, Anniston, AL 36206.

ROANOKE

Services for Stanford LaMar Foster, 38, of Roanoke will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church in Roanoke with Rev. L.B. Houston officiating. Burial will be the church cemetery with Clark Memorial Funeral Service in charge. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Foster died Thursday in Roanoke.

Survivors include a special friend, Carlene Finley of Abanda; his stepfather, Aaron Bryant Sr. of Richmond, Calif.; three brothers, Jimmy Foster and Patrick Foster, both of Roanoke and Calvin Foster of Anniston; five sisters, Stephanie Woodgett and Brenda Johnson, both of Roanoke and Jacqueline Foster, Kimberly Bryant and Tasha Bryant, all of Anniston; two stepsisters, Katherine Bryant of Houston, Texas and Linda Bryant of Toledo, Ohio; and four stepbrothers, Donald Bryant of Richmond, Calif., and David Bryant, Aaron Bryant Jr. and Ronald Bryant and his wife, Julia, all of Toledo.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Pearl Foster Bryant.

MUNFORD

Services for Mattie Lavator Carden Mitchell "Aunt Sallie" Magouyrk, 96, of Munford will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home with Revs. Dale Hooper and Bobby Wayne Langley officiating. Burial will be in Plum Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Magouyrk died Thursday at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include six daughters, Louise Mitchell, Sara Langley, Margret Bowman and Lois Summers-Phillips, all of Talladega, Jimmie Thomas of Lincoln and Anita Crim of Munford; two sons, William Mitchell of Talladega and Fredrick "Buster" Mitchell of Munford; 52 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mrs. Magouyrk was a native of Calhoun County and had lived in Talladega County most of her life. She was a member of Plum Springs Baptist Church and was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Mitchell; and two sons, Billy Mitchell and Carl Mitchell.

Rozelle

LINCOLN

Graveside services for C.E. "Ed" Rozelle, 85, of Lincoln will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lincoln City Cemetery with Revs. Jim Napp and Ava H. Rozelle officiating and Usrey Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Rozelle died Thursday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Montine D. Rozelle of Lincoln; a daughter, Susan R. Bezemer of Brantford Ontario, Canada; a son, Hal P. Rozelle of Lincoln; two sisters, Mary Ann Thompson of Jacksonville and Rebecca R. Burt of Anniston; a brother, W. Clarence Rozelle of LaFayette, La.; five grandchildren, Edward Tyler, Anna Trawick, Rebecca Rozelle, Jessica Rozelle and Ryan Rozelle; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandra Trawick, Elizabeth Trawick and Bryce Tyler.

Pallbearers will be Edward Trammell, Ryan Rozelle, Jessica Rozelle, Rebecca Rozelle, Hal Rozelle, Edward Tyler and Cor Bezemer. Honorary pallbearers will be Roswitha Suter, James Smith, Robert Pettis, Dick Pettis, Hank Little, Gerald Smith and Charles Pettis.

Mr. Rozelle was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church and a retired farmer and building contractor. He was Navy, Army Air Corps and World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark D. Rozelle; a brother, Harold L. Rozelle; and his parents, Eddie and Mary W. Rozelle.

MEMPHIS, Tenn.

Services for Emma Sue Tutor, 72, of Memphis will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with Rev. John Holt officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at Williams Cemetery in Houlka, Miss. The family will receive friends 5-7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tutor died Friday at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Everett D. Tutor; two daughters, Lucy Ridgeway of Bacliff, Texas and Wanda Beach of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons, James Rayford Clark Jr. of New Albany, Miss., Phillip O. Tutor of Anniston and Richard Tutor of Vincent; two sisters, Jimmie Nell Cain of Oxford, Miss., and Clara King of Iuka, Miss.; a brother, Lloyd Barlow of Bartlett, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tutor, a native of Tula, Miss., was a retired seamstress and had worked in sales at Sears. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.

Memorials can be made to the Crossroads United Methodist Church Building Fund, 9315 E. Shelby Drive, Memphis, TN 38017.
