OXFORD

Services for Sarah Margaret Johnson, 73, of Oxford will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Angel Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Terry Johnson, Eugene Burgess and Larry Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Johnson died Friday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, James C. Johnson of Oxford; a son and his wife, Eddie and Shelia Johnson of Oxford; two brothers, Billy Tolleson of Jacksonville and Jimmy Tolleson of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Chris and April Johnson, Dawn and Mark Sanders and Derek Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Johnson and Brianna Johnson; and three nieces and a nephew.

Pallbearers will be Roscoe Angel, Lloyd Garner, Jackie Johnson, Woodson Lloyd, Bill Miller and John Staton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruth and Faith Sunday school classes of Angel Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Cleburne County and a resident of Calhoun County. She was a member of Angel Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Crane; her father, Rufus Tolleson; and a sister-in-law, Marlene Tolleson.

Manthey

Memorial services for Donald Roger Manthey, 67, of Anniston will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Acker Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Anniston. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory is in charge.

Mr. Manthey died Thursday at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Wade Manthey of Anniston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kristin Manthey Martin and Scott Martin of Birmingham and Shannon Elizabeth Manthey of New Orleans; a son, Donald Wade Manthey of Birmingham; and a sister, Carole Manthey Magie of Cincinnati.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Association of Alabama, 429 Rock Inn Road, Cropwell, AL 35043; or the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10305.

Murphy

GAYLESVILLE

Services for Roy Millard Murphy Sr., 87, of Gaylesville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home in Centre with Berlin Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Berea Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Murphy died Thursday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Roy M. and Barbara Murphy Jr. of Gaylesville; a daughter and her husband, Diana and Dennis Bentley of Jamestown; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Steve Tucker, Sonja and Sam Hall, Alicia Murphy and Brent and Jacqueline Bentley; three great-grandchildren, Jesse Tucker, Lane Tucker and Harley Bentley; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Mr. Murphy was a native of Cherokee County and a member of Berea Church of Christ. He was a World War II veteran and a retired textile worker and farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Luke and Lena England Murphy.

Services for Nannie Lou Noah, 77, of Anniston will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Leatherwood Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Burial will be in Union Methodist Cemetery in Wellington with Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Noah died Friday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, James Kyle Noah Sr. of Anniston; two daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Larry K. Jennings and Janice and Hugh Smitherman Jr., all of Anniston; a son, James Kyle Noah Jr. of Vincennes, Ind.; a sister, Arlene Kirkland of Alexandria; a brother, Rev. James Owens of Anniston; a primary caregiver, Geraldine Alldredge; four grandchildren, Preston Smitherman, Brent Smitherman, Thomas Noah and Andrea Noah; an adopted granddaughter, Shonna Baker; and three great-grandchildren, Kyla Smitherman, Kody Smitherman and Noah Smitherman.

Pallbearers will be Brent Smitherman, Preston Smitherman, Ray Burgess, Varon Harbin, Ken Tharrington, Cecil Brown and Howard Thackerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah "Sweetie Pie" Smitherman, Kody Smitherman, Thomas Noah and deacons of Leatherwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Noah was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was retired from Oxford Fashion-Butte Knit and was a member of Leatherwood Baptist Church.

Thompson

BIRMINGHAM

Graveside services for Mary "Geneva" Jones Thompson, 86, of Birmingham, formerly of Anniston, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thompson died Friday in Birmingham.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Shook of Birmingham; a son, Randall Lewis Thompson of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Margaret Jones Hinton of Birmingham; a brother, Robert D. Jones of Fletcher, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Brendan K. Davis and Dallas A. Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson was an Anniston resident most of her life and had lived in Birmingham the past four years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Thompson, and a daughter, Iris Dale Thompson.

JACKSON'S GAP

Services for Glenn Blake Watts, 65, of Jackson's Gap will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Southview Church of Christ with Buddy Borland officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Munford with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight at the funeral home in Alexander City. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Watts died Friday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Mae Watts of Jackson's Gap; a son and his wife, John David and Janet Leigh Watts of Alexander City; two brothers, Harvey J. Watts of Alabaster and Bobby H. Watts of Ashland; and two sisters, Joyce W. Smith of Eastaboga and Elaine W. Mayfield of Lincoln.

Pallbearers will be Greg Watts, Bobby Watts Jr., Jason Whitten, Keith Lacky, Michael Crochen and Mark Griffin.

Mr. Watts was born in Munford and was a 1954 graduate of Munford High School. He attended Faulkner University in Montgomery and was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a Church of Christ minister at various congregations and had retired from Russell Corp. in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Levi and Ellen Bannister Watts; a daughter, Diana Leigh Watts; and a brother, Marion Leldon Watts.

Services for Homer "Hack" Wilson, 86, of Anniston will be announced by Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ill. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Wilson died Friday at National Health Care.

Mr. Wilson was retired from Southern Railways after 37 years of service. He was an Army veteran and a lifetime Mason.

CARROLLTON, Ga.

Services for Myrtle Lenora Breed, 83, of Carrollton, formerly of Ranburne, will be today at 3 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Jackie Taylor and Kit Carson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Rainwater-West Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Breed died Monday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Peggy and Frank Kenerly of Carrollton; a son, Leon Breed of Ranburne; a brother, Edward Stewart of Ranburne; six sisters, Sylvania Skinner, Eunice Blanks, Flossie Burt, Lela McCormick and Margaret Stewart, all of Ranburne and Willa Dean Brown of Anniston; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Penny Kenerly and Matt and Renee Kenerly; and a great-grandchild, Matthew Cody Kenerly.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Anglin, Hulan Gore, Byron Deese, Darence Deese, Kenneth Deese and Willis Daniel.

Mrs. Breed was born in Cleburne County and the daughter of the late Dock W. and Belzie Gay Stewart. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Wise Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of Flower Wood Nursery. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Breed; a daughter-in-law, Jimmie Breed; and a sister, Lola Stewart.

SAN FRANCISCO

Services for Aaron Bryant Sr., 77, of San Francisco, formerly of Randolph County, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Wadley. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Clark Memorial Funeral Service and Bay View Mortuary in charge. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Friday at Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke.

Mr. Bryant died Thursday at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco.

Survivors include six sons and their wives, Aaron and Marvalean Bryant Jr., David Bryant and Ronald and Julia Bryant, all of Toledo, Ohio, Donald Bryant of Vacaville, Calif., and Patrick Bryant and Calvin Bryant, both of Roanoke; four daughters, Mary Bryant of Houston, Texas, Linda Bryant of Toledo and Kimberly Bryant and Tasha Bryant, both of Anniston; three stepdaughters, Stephanie Woodgett and Brenda Foster, both of Roanoke and Jacqueline Foster of Anniston; a stepson and his wife, Jimmy and Gertrude Foster of Roanoke; a brother and his wife, Charlie Frank and Rose Hill of Inkster, Mich.; five sisters and their husbands, Iredell Burton of Sacramento, Calif., Willie and Homer Allen, Lillie and Jim Cantrell and Shirley Bryant, all of San Francisco and Beaulah and Walt Johnson of Griffin, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bryant was born and raised in Wadley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Bryant; a son, Joseph Bryant; a brother, R.C. Bryant; and his parents, Pearline and McKinley Bryant.

HEFLIN

Graveside services for Verna May Cash, 81, of Heflin will be today at 11 a.m. at Heflin City Cemetery with Rev. Brooks Boyd officiating and Dryden Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

Miss Cash died Sunday at National Health Care.

Survivors include a sister, Erma Scott of Heflin; a brother, Glenn Cash of Lanett; a nephew and his wife, Milton and Vickie Cole; and a niece and her husband, Dianne and Joseph Jackson.

Pallbearers will be friends.

Miss Cash was a native of Carroll County, Ga., and had been a homemaker. She had lived at National Health Care for nine months.
