GENIAL SHEREL McPHERSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Genial Sherel McPherson, 31, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Community Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Stanley E. Looney Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. McPherson died June 4 at her residence.

She is survived by her mother, Irene Hooks of Sylacauga; grandmother, Cammie Jones of Sylacauga; two sons, Arturo Peirce III and Christian Anthony McPherson of Sylacauga; two sisters, Mattie Lee Hooper and Monique Lawhaun Underwood of Bradenton, Fla.; four brothers, Olden Lamar McPherson of Virginia, Andre Louis McPherson of St. Petersburg, Fla., David Bland Jenkins of Bradenton, Fla., and Rasaad Jamal Hooks of Sarasota, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends of the family will be pallbearers and flowerbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

DOUGLAS EUGENE COLEMAN

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Douglas Eugene Coleman, 67, of Jasper will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Forbus officiating. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. in Munford Cemetery.

Mr. Coleman died June 6 at Shades Crest Health Care Center in Jasper.

He is survived by his mother, Maudie A. Hammonds of Sylacauga; seven brothers, Robert Hammonds of Columbiana, Lewis Hammonds of California, Mike Hammonds of Birmingham, Johnny Hammonds of Sylacauga, Johnny Coleman, Jimmy Coleman and Jerry Coleman of Alabama; three sisters, JoAnn Grizzle of Birmingham, Cindy Hammonds of Opelika and Carolyn Lett of Gadsden; and stepmother, Virginia Coleman.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MAMIE MORGAN COX

HOMEWOOD — Graveside service for Mamie Morgan Cox, 93, of Pell City will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Forest Crest Cemetery with Dr. John Thweatt officiating.

Mrs. Cox died June 4. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee G. Cox Sr. They were residents of Pine Bluff, Ark., from 1939 until 1992. She was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and was a resident of Ingram manor Nursing Home in Pell City.

She is survived by two sons, Lee G. Cox Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Gary W. Cox of Atlanta; three daughters, Margaret C. Hubbard of Tucson, Ariz., Mary C. Culpepper of Lincoln, Calif. and Jan Trotter of Pell City; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Ridout’s Valley Chapel will direct the service.

RUBY D. DEASON

EASTABOGA — Funeral service for Ruby Deason, 90, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home chapel with Elbert Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Munford.

Mrs. Deason died June 6 at Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleburne County and a resident of Eastaboga for many years, she was a member of Munford Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance W. Deason Sr., and her son, Vance Deason, Jr.

She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Stimus and Marianne Deason of Eastaboga, Maude Rutledge of Cullman and Agnes Manasco of Dora; one sister, Flora Otwell of Eastaboga; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Howard Higgins, Joe Cox, Gerald Deason, David Rutledge, Keith Manasco and Laymon Strickland.

Miller Funeral Home will direct the service.

CATHERINE GREATHOUSE

JACKSON’S GAP — Funeral service for Catherine Greathouse, 87, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. George H. Pulliam officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Greathouse died June 4 at Adams Nursing Home.

She is survived by one daughter, Gertrude G. Robinson of Jackson’s Gap; one sister, Laney Oliver of Dadeville; one brother, Eallie McCullough of Oak Park, Mich.; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Wright’s Funeral Home will direct the service.

GEORGE W. GULLEDGE

PELL CITY — Funeral service for George W. Gulledge, 80, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Weems officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Gulledge died June 7. He was a longtime resident of St. Clair County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Gulledge.

He is survived by four brothers, Coy Gulledge, Bob Gulledge, Gene Gulledge and Robert Gulledge of Pell City; one sister, Anne McGuire of Pell City; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Edward McGuire, Dale McGuire, Larry Macon, Steven Macon, J.P. Macon and Scotty Youngblood.

The family will receive friends Sunday starting at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

MUTHEY DOWELL WALKER JR.

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Muthey Dowell (Mickey) Walker Jr., 78, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pell City with the Revs. Don Phillips, A.L. Courtney and John Thweatt officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Helena City Cemetery.

Mr. Walker died June 6. He was born June 10, 1924, in Boothton, Ala., attended Thompson High School in Siluria before joining the Navy at 17. Serving in World War II, he was trained as a navigator/bombardier and spent most of his Navy career in airplanes and aboard aircraft carriers. He flew the RA5C Vigilante reconnaissance in the Vietname War, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for his efforts.

He retired in 1972, having served 30 years in his beloved Navy. Having raised three children, he and his wife, Bernice (who has preceded him in death), moved to Pell City in 1974. He attended First Baptist Church of Pell City, where he served the church faithfully for almost 30 years. He served as a deacon, as well as serving on many other church committees, and was an active member of the Duo Sunday School Class. He went on to attend Montevallo College, graduating Magna Cum Lauda in 1976.

He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn W. (Leon) Greene of St. Simon Island, Ga., and Sherron K (Ed) Poppell of Gainesville, Fla.; one son, Kenneth D. (Sherry) Walker of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren, Debbie Walker, Jeff Walker, Keith Walker, Kimberly Dixon, Michael Carter, Jonathan Greene and Adam Poppell; two great-grandchildren, Walker Dixon and Garrett Dison; one stepsister, Barbara Ann Logan of Alabaster; two stepbrothers, Jack Williams of Columbiana and Joe Williams of Fairhope; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Walker, Keith Walker, Bucky Dixon, Michael Carter, Adam Poppell and Bill Gossett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Dixon, Debbie Walker, Jonathan Greene and Davis Worley.

The body may be viewed Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARY L. BRADFORD

ANNISTON — Mary L. Bradford, 53, of 825 Quail Drive, died June 9.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Home.

ANDY BRIGHT

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Andy Bright, 21, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Stanley Layton officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Bright died June 8. He was a lifelong resident of St. Clair County, attended Moody High School and worked as a chef with Cafe' Avanti in Pell City, as well as being employed by Energy Absorption in Pell City. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thurston and Sally Bright, Larry Tanner and Linda Wright.

He is survived by his parents, Gay Hayes of Gulf Shores and Larry Bright of Pell City; great-grandmother, Gertrude Lehman of Cook Springs; and brothers, Chad Bright and Eric Bright of Gulf Shores.

Pallbearers will be Sean Gauldin, Billy Bright, Paul Dockery, Michael Boyd, Kyle Kinsey, Blake Parker and Joey Gann.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

ROSA PAULINE BURNHAM DEAN

TALLADEGA — Rosa Pauline Burnham Dean, 76, died June 9.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home.

MARGIE L. HURST DINGLER

DELTA — Funeral service for Margie L. Hurst Dingler, 75, was Monday at Mount Zion Church of Christ with Gary Wagner officiating. Burial was in Union D Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Dingler died June 7 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was retired from Clay County Board of Education as a bus driver and Clay County Exchange. She was a homemaker, member of Shinbone Volunteer Fire Department and Mount Zion Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Lydia Sasnett Hurst; granddaughter, Regina Lynn Dingler; and sister, Hilta Hurst Morrow.

She is survived by her husband, James F. Dingler I of Delta; daughters, Charlene Dingler Strickland and Carolyn Dingler Waldrop of Lineville; sons, James F. Dingler II, Jimmie Ray Dingler, Jack (Jacky) Gerald Dingler and Gary Lee Dingler of Delta; sisters, Bernice Owens of Lincoln, Hazel Burt of Lineville, Ethel Bell, Victoria Land and Gladys Conners of Delta; brothers, Horace Hurst and James Hurst of Delta and Jerry Hurst of Lineville; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Olive, Franklin Olive, Patrick Dingler, Chris Waldrop, Jamie Dingler, T.J. Dingler, Cody Johnson and Kimberly Livingston.

Honorary pallbearers were Scott Eagle, Denise Bevan, Donna Echols, Miranda McVey, Robin Simmons, Tracie Olive, Jessica Dingler, Melanie Watson and Christie Aberceombia.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville directed the service.
