PINKNEY DISON

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Pinkney Dison, 89, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Adams, the Rev. Jamie Barclay and the Rev. Dwight Upchurch officiating. Burial will be in Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Dison died Sept. 12 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Talladega County, but had lived most of his life in Clay County. He was a retired farmer and cattle farmer. He had been a mail carrier for 15 years, led singing at Clay County Nursing Home for about 30 years and was a member of Clay County Exchange, Clay County Cattlemen's Association, Clay County Singers Convention and Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Dora Dison; one daughter, Christine Patterson; and one grandson, all of Ashland.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Thursday at 5:30 p.m. until Friday at 2 p.m.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

MYRTLE MAE GANN

PELL CITY — Graveside service for Myrtle Mae Gann, 94, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at ValHalla Funeral Home on Bessemer Road in Midfield.

Mrs. Gann died Sept. 12. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Gann. She was a lifetime member of Ensley First Methodist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Peggy Sue Hodgson; two brothers, John Allen and Lester Lee Helton; three daughters, Dorothy Morton, Joyce Nix and Barbara Hauenstein; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until service time.at the funeral home.

ValHalla Funeral Home will direct the service.

GABRIEL RALPH GIBSON

VINCENT — Funeral service for Gabriel Ralph Gibson, 49, was Monday at First Baptist Church of Vincent with the Rev. Lon Cullen and Chaplain Tom Bell officiating. Burial was in Vincent Cemetery.

Mr. Gibson died Sept. 7 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. He was a trainer for NCO for the Army National Guard and was a native of Vincent.

He is survived by two sons, Jeremy Gibson of Ramsein Air Force Base, Germany, and Matthew Gibson of Alabaster; one daughter, Misty Valenti of Sterrett; his parents, Junior and Betty Gibson of Vincent; two brothers, Dennis Gibson of Vincent and Sonny Gibson of Harpersville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Sherwood McDaniel, Bobby Denty, Jack Dyer, Larry Robertson, Marty Gibson and Tommy Sanders.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel directed the service.

ROSCOE MOORE

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Roscoe Moore, 65, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Daugherty officiating.

Mr. Moore died Sept. 9 at Citizens BMC. He attended Central Baptist Church, was a resident of Talladega County most of his life and attended E.H. Gentry Technical School.

He is survived by his Central Baptist Church family and several cousins.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

ERNESTINE CORBIN CHRISTIAN

ROCKFORD — Funeral service for Ernestine Corbin (Teen) Christian will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Hanover with Pastor Shirleen Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Christian died Oct. 20 at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. She was born Aug. 27, 1932 in Attalla to the late Lathe and Matilda Corbin. She was the youngest of 16 brothers and sisters, attended Attalla City Schools and later went to Gadsden High. As a child she joined Antioch Methodist Church in Attalla, where she sang in the choir. She later joined Rockford Methodist Church and then Shady Grove United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully until her death. Upon relocating to Rockford, she met and married the late Houston Christian. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1965. She was a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one daughter, Colletta Darlene Christian of Rockford; one stepdaughter, Norettha Fondren of Dolton, Ill.; foster daughter, Avalue Burton of Rockford; one sister, Annie L. Smith of Gadsden; two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

LONNIE MAE CARTER

LINEVILLE — Lonnie Mae Carter, 82, died Oct. 24 at Lineville Nursing Facility.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Garrett's Funeral Home.

ROLAND LEE DUNCAN

HARVEST — Funeral service for Roland Lee Duncan, 72, was Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Brother Jimmy Coleman and Brother Sidney Allen officiating. Burial was in Ford's Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Duncan died Oct. 20. He was a native of Talladega County and was retired from Army Missile Command with 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Duncan of Harvest; one daughter, Glenda Duncan Cloud of Madison; two stepdaughters, Rita Johnson of Toney and Pat Johnson of Harvest; one stepson, Walter Burrell of Harvest; two brothers, Arnold Duncan of Hampton, Va., and Larry Conville of Birmingham; one sister, Juanita Camp of Anniston; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville directed the service.

WILLIAM LEE GRIFFITT

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for William Lee Griffitt, 73, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Buttram, the Rev. Harold Bannister and the Rev. Danny Bannister officiating. Burial will be in Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Griffitt died Oct. 23. A native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Sylacauga and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 4261 and the American Legion Post 17. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Marie Burford Griffitt; a brother, Donnie Griffitt; and a stepdaughter, Brenda Bannister.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie J. Griffitt of Childersburg; three daughters, Judy Parris of Anniston, Patricia Wesson and Susan Garrigus of Childersburg; two sons, Gerald Griffitt and Frank Griffitt of Sylacauga; two stepdaughters, Lois Satterwhite and Penny Bannister of Talladega; two stepsons, Danny Bannister and Harold Bannister of Talladega; two sisters, Mary Esther Davis of Childersburg and Barbara Lee of Sylacauga; two brothers, Ralph Griffitt of Childersburg and Harold Griffitt of Sylacauga; 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Parris, Clint Parris, Frank Griffitt, James Bassett, Thomas Smith and John Robbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Robbs, Howard Williams, Sammy Graham, Willie Matson, P.L. Elliot, Greg Griffitt, Bob Houston and Bill Hall.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

LILLIE MARY CHAPMAN KEITH

ANDERSON, Ind. — Funeral service for Lillie Mary Chapman Keith, 87, of 1916 Manger Lane, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Fair and the Rev. George Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Africa Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Keith died Oct. 19 at Manor Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Henry Keith; a daughter, Ernestine Poe; a sister, Annie Bell Angel; four brothers, Willie Chapman, Lovell Chapman, Greenwood Chapman and Robert Chapman; and her parents, Zack Chapman and Elvira Lawler Chapman. She was a member of St. Campbell Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Bible school worker, was a deaconess and treasurer of the Mt. Carmel District Baptist Association. She was a retired seamstress at Jo Ann Dress Shoppe.

She is survived by two daughters, Annie Ruth Easley of Alpine and Mildred J. Lewis of Anderson, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Winnie Keith of Roanoke; three stepsons, Joe Henry Keith of Columbus, Ohio, Billy Keith of Montezuma, Ga., and Ray Keith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Dark, John S. Easley IV, Robert Weatherly, Calvin Howell I, Greg Spriggs and Tommy Welch.

The Board of Deacons of St. Campbell Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

RAYMOND OLIVER

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Raymond Oliver, 88, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Al Chatham officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Oliver died Oct. 23 at Russell Medical Center. He served in the United States Navy during Pearl Harbor, World War II, was married 67 years to Christine Demedicis Oliver and was preceded in death by three granddaughters, Casie Renda, Zoe Renda and Hope Renda.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Demedicis Oliver of Sylacauga; three sons, Bobby Oliver of Dyer, Tenn., Neal Oliver of Lisman and Ronnie Oliver of Sylacauga; two daughters, Betsy Maddox of Chelsea and Susan Thornton of Sylacauga; one sister, Grace Black of Anniston; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Oldfield United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

ROGER DALE PRESLEY SR.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Roger Dale Presley Sr., 54, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg chapel with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Presley died Oct. 23 at Coosa Valley BMC. He was retired from Kimberly Clark with 33 years of service.

He is survived by one son, Roger Dale Presley Jr. of Sylacauga; one brother, Hilton Presley of Needham; four sisters, Ann Lovelady of Wilsonville, Barbara Fain of Rex, Ga., Patricia Shelton of McDonough, Ga., and Kathy Hamilton of Douglasville, Ga.; his mother, Marguerite Presley of Ashville and one granddaughter, Sarah Presley of Chelsea.

Family and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4:30 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

GEORGIANA P. UNDERWOOD

PELL CITY — Memorial service for Georgiana P. Underwood, 77, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Rehnard Parker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Pell City.

Mrs. Underwood died Oct. 23. She was a switchboard operator for the St. Clair County Switch Board that later became Coosa Valley Telephone Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pell City.

She is survived by two sons, Oscar W. (Sonny) Underwood Jr. and wife Barbara B. and Lonnie Edward Underwood and wife Darlene, all of Pell City; one sister, Mary Lou Palmer of Odenville; two grandsons, Toby Wade Underwood and Jamie Wayne Brock and four great-grandchildren, Sonny Underwood, Colton Underwood, Wade Lee Brock and Landon Brock.

The family will receive friends Friday from 9 until 11 a.m.

Donations may be made to Rheumatory Arthritis Society or the American Cancer Society.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

FELICE WHITE

LINCOLN — Felice White, 85, of 124 Lock Ford Road, died Oct. 24 in Lincoln.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sims Funeral Service.

NEWELL BENJAMIN WILSON

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Newell Benjamin Wilson, 64, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Hagan officiating.

Mr. Wilson died Oct. 23 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Talladega, he was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church and was retired from U.S. Alliance.

He is survived by his wife, Ann H. Wilson of Talladega; three daughters, Vickie Hare, Debra McCoy and Lee Wood of Talladega; one son, Robert Wilson of Birmingham; two brothers, Larry Neville and Billy Neville of Talladega and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Farmer, Randy Small, Bruce Hutton, Donald Brannon, Luther Brannon and John Sprayberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Edwards and John Guyther.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.
