Carl Banks Jr., 81, of Jasper died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at Ridgewood Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Collins-Burke Chapel with Burial in Curry Cemetery. The Revs. Hershel Hudson and Bill Yarber will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. tonight, Feb. 1, 2004, at the funeral home.

Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Banks; his father, Carlos Banks; his mother, Lela Banks; and a sister, Louise Hardin.

He is survived by four daughters, Gail McGinnis and her husband, Dwayne; Phyllis Morris and her husband, Keith, and Rita Langley, all of Jasper and Sharon Corbin of Hollywood, Fla.; four sisters, Ruth Barnett of Jasper; Margaret Graves of Decatur; Vaudie Elliott of Jasper and Audie West of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers will be Scott McGinnis, Andy McGinnis, Patrick Langley, Steven Morris, Jason Langley and Jacob Corbin.

Brandon Douglas Charles Christian

Brandon Douglas Charles Christian, 19, of Sumiton died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Collins-Burke Chapel in Jasper with Burial in Brassfield Cemetery in Burnwell.

Rev. Tom McDaniel will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Feb. 1, 2004, at the funeral home.

Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bruce Christian.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah Christian of Sumiton; his father, Randy Christian of Providence; two sisters, Christina Rubley and her husband, Randy, of Arley and Ashley Christian of Double Springs; an uncle, Steve Lentz of Jasper; two nieces, Samantha Calloway of Cordova and Celeste Calloway of Jasper; grandparents, Charles and Betty Lentz of Cordova, and Shirley and Grover Walton of Providence; and a great-grandmother, Jessie Mae Stephens of Cordova.

Martha Annett Ingle, 58, of Jasper died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center-Walker.

Alma Nearine Henderson

Alma Nearine Henderson, 87, of Decatur died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Decatur General Hospital in Morgan County.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 31, 2004, in the Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur. Rev. Byron Lakey will officiate. Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur will direct.

Mrs. Henderson worked as an LPN for Wolverine Tube, Dr. Greer, Dr. Wilder and the Decatur General Hospital and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Henderson; and son, Bobby H. Henderson.

Mrs. Henderson is survived by one daughter, Barbara Gayle Jackson of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Pence Henderson of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruby Fox of Decatur, Evelyn Mooney of Ft. Worth, Texas and Rena Hunt of Mitchell, Neb.

Mr. Laird was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthie Pearl Laird; one daughter, Lelah Turner; brothers; and sisters.

He is survived by four daughters, Alice Boker, Minnie Heard, Bobbie Laird and Beveralee Royster; seven sons, Walter L. Laird, Charles Laird, Odis Williams, Claude Ray Williams, Tommie Earl Williams, Ralph Williams and Willie Clyde Williams; seven special adopted grandchildren; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Lois Louella Dodd Box, 92, of Carbon Hill died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the ConsultAmerica Nursing Home in Carbon Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in the Collins-Burke Chapel with Burial in the Old Brand Cemetery. C.W. Box and David Lowery will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Jan. 31, in the parlor at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her husband, Bursie Art Box; two daughters, Hellen Stovall and Sara Stovall; one son, Elbert Box; two sisters, one brother; father, David C. Dodd; and mother, Grace Dodd.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Guthrie and her husband, Frank of Carbon Hill and Patricia Davis and her husband, David of Jasper; three sisters, Lucille McFerrin of Carbon Hill, Gloria Jones of Aurora, Mo. and Sue Werner of Killeen, Texas; three brothers, Bill Dodd of Carbon Hill, Cecil Dodd of Jasper and John Paul Dodd of Prattville; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Guthrie, Tyson Hill, David Stovall, Roger Hill, Art Stovall and Paul Tidwell.

Kenneth Scott Ledbetter, 64, of Jasper died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Baptist Medical Center-Walker in Jasper.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in the Collins-Burke Chapel with Burial in the Shanghi Cemetery in Dora. Jim Burton will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Jan. 31, in the parlor at the funeral home.

Mr. Ledbetter was preceded in death by his father, Scott E. Ledbetter; mother, Nan E. Ledbetter; grandson, Samuel Wayne Sharit; sister, Brenda Sue Ledbetter; and son-in-law, Richard Curtis.

He is survived by his wife, Lavern Ledbetter of Jasper; three daughters, Charlotte Sharit and her husband, Terry of Oakman, Pamela Curtis of Carbon Hill and Kimberly Mills and her husband, Chuck of Jasper; one son, Billy Ledbetter and his wife, Susie of Jasper; one sister, Theresa Ledbetter of Jasper; eight grandchildren, Sharon Sharit, Amanda Carter, Tabitha Curtis, Rudy Ledbetter, Leeann Ledbetter, Jennifer Ledbetter, Jesse Mills and Wendy Mills; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Sharit and Richard White.

Roby G. Mullis

Roby G. Mullis, 73, of Sumiton died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Birmingham.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2004, in the New Horizon Memorial Gardens in Dora. Rev. Gene Cook will officiate. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora will direct.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 1, in the parlor at the funeral home.

Mr. Mullis was a retired surveyor with Dade County, Fla., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Marvin Lee Ferguson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4850 in Jasper.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Velma I. Mullis of Sumiton; and two sons, Ray Mullis and his wife, Dorothy and Joshua Mullis and his wife, Tammy, all of Orlando, Fla.

Lois Hazel Turner

Lois Hazel Turner, 89, of Parrish died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Baptist Medical Center-Walker in Jasper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Tate officiating. Burial will be in the Shanghi Cemetery in Quinton with New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora directing.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, in the parlor at the funeral home.

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charlie Turner; and son, Charles Turner.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Carmichael and her husband, Carl of Valparaiso, Ind., and Barbara Scobey and her husband, Daniel of Wheatfield, Ind.; two sons, Wallace Turner and his wife, Nancy of Aurora, Col.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker worked for the city of Vestavia Hills and was a member of the St. Joseph Baptist Church of Yerkwood.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Parker of Quinton; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Evans and her husband, Lavon, of Adamsville and Miss Erica Parker of Yerkwood; one son, Stefano Parker of Adamsville; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine King and her husband Homer and Ms. Bonnie Black, all of Ft. Lacy 'Frank' Noles Sr.

Lacy "Frank" Noles Sr., 87, of the Clear Creek-Smith Lake community in Jasper, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at the Baptist Medical Center-Walker in Jasper.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with Burial in the New Hope Holy Church of Christ Cemetery. Jim Burton of Poplar Springs Church of Christ will officiate. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home.

Mr. Noles was born Jan. 11, 1917 in Lynn. He was an elder of the Poplar Springs Church of Christ. He loved his chosen profession as a diesel mechanic and worked many years for Great Southern Coaches in Jonesboro, Ark. When he returned back to his roots in Jasper, he worked for Carl Cannon, International Harvester and retired from the County District One.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Harrison Noles and Sovonia Estella Allison Noles of Jasper; one sister, Vera Gregory of Jonesboro, Ark.; three brothers, George Noles of Jasper, Charlie Noles of Jonesboro, Ark. and Leon Noles of Jasper.

Mr. Noles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha D. Anglin Noles; two daughters, Shirley Noles Lawrie of Smith Lake, Jasper, and Patricia Noles Lambe of San Diego, Calif.; one son, Lacy "Frank" Noles Jr. of Smith Lake, Jasper; four sisters, Fairy Mae Lee of Haleyville, Louise Crawford of Greenville, Texas, Faye Eason of Beaumont, Texas and Ozell Young of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, R.B. "Bud" Noles of Shreveport, La. and Ray Noles of Jonesboro, Ark.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Henry Lacy Moon

Henry Lacy Moon, 80, of Curry, formerly of Southgate, Mich., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center-Walker in Jasper.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Herman Baptist Church with Burial in the adjoining cemetery. Alfred Hartley and Earnest McKinnon will officiate. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. today in the parlor at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church.

Mr. Moon proudly served his country during World War II. He was a retiree of BASF in Detroit, Mich. He was also a member of Herman Baptist Church.

He was an accomplished musician who loved to sing and play his guitar for his friends and family. A songwriter, he also served the Lord as a songleader at each church where he was a member. He also sang in two Gospel quartets, the Gospel Messengers and later on the Singing Pilgrims.

Mr. Moon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frankie R. Moon of Curry; two sons, Randall Moon and wife, Linda of Rowlett, Texas and James Moon and wife, Myra of Arley; four grandsons, Chris, Rusty, Jimmy and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Moon's nephews.

Ella Jane Whisenhunt Montgomery

Ella Jane Whisenhunt Montgomery, 88, of Nauvoo died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center-Walker in Jasper.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 30, 2004, in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with Burial in the New Hope Holy Church of Christ Cemetery. Bill Frank Wilson will officiate. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.

Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther E. Snelgrove and Bill Montgomery; parents, Andrew and Lizzie Williams Whisenhunt; and brother, Clarence Whisenhunt.

She is survived by five sisters, Velma Mae Falls and Stella Harris, both of Double Springs, Della Tubbs of Saucier, Miss., Dean Williams of Jasper, and Elsie Layton of Adamsville; and several nieces and nephews.
