DUNN, Mrs. Beatrice J., a loving Christian wife, mother and educator died peacefully, October 24, 2002 after a courageous battle. Born May 28, 1934 in Crenshaw County (Brantley), Alabama, reared in Montgomery, Alabama. Preceded in death by: her father and mother, Ernest and Minnie Jones; brothers: Hosea and Fedral and sister, Lucile. To cherish her memory: husband, Richard; sons: Quentin and Cedric (Yolanda); 3 grandchildren: Kayla, Jasmine and Cedric J. (C.J.); 4 sisters: Mary Hamilton, Jessie (Rev. Virgil) Coleman, Katie Pearson and Frances Vinson; sister-in-law, Rosa Cribb; brother-inlaw, James H. Jackson; special nieces: Jackie, Shirley, Mary, Vera and Lela; special friends: The Nolans, Jones, Happys, Franklins, Bev Warren, Arnette Long, Chris Hines and numerous other relatives and friends. A graduate of Alabama State University and further studies at UD and Wright State University. Funeral service Tuesday, October 29, at 11 am at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 5370 DaytonLiberty Rd. with Rev. Dr. Allen Jones, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends 10-11 am, with viewing 9-11 am. Interment at Dayton National Cemetery. Services respectfully rendered by H. H. Roberts.

KIRKWOOD, Jackson H.

KIRKWOOD, Jackson H., 75, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 in Montgomery, Alabama following a brief illness. Mr. Kirkwood was a native of Elkhart, Indiana and the son of the late John Howard and Leona Wachtel Kirkwood.

Mr. Kirkwood was preceded in death by his wife, Loyce Ann Kirkwood of Atlanta, Texas. Mr. Kirkwood was a SSgt in the USAF and served two tours of duty.

Mr. Kirkwood was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Robert of Elkhart, Indiana and Richard, of Eire, PA and a sister, Betty Vigren Russell of Elkhart, Indiana.

He is survived by: daughters, Jeri Tippet of Montgomery, AL, Jenifer Stone of Bonaire, GA, Pamela Thornton of Lawtey, FL; a son, Jeffrey Alan Kirkwood of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A private interment will take place in Atlanta, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 2911 Woodley Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36111.

GREEN, Mildred E., age 86, a resident of Montgomery, AL, for 42 years died Saturday, October 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen William Green. She is survived by two children, Keith Green (Melissa), Georgia and Janice Spencer (Steve), Alabama; one sister, Dorothy McDougal, Alabama; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from Covenant Presbyterian Church, Five Arden Road, with Rev. Lee Thorpe officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Green was past President of the Alabama State Garden Club, also an active member at Covenant Presbyterian Church for 42 years. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Prater will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. Survivors include: three sons, G. Robert Prater of Warm Springs, GA, David A. Prater of Newnan, GA and Reuben M. Prater of Alexander City, AL; one daughter, Mary Prater Wood of Wetumpka, AL; four brothers: Douglas Rice of Prattville, AL, Vernon Rice of Lakeland, FL, Elwood Rice of Florida and 004 . 0000.00þAllyn Rice of Lakeland, FL; two sisters: Willie Kelley of Lake Placid, FL and Ila Tuck of Athens, AL; six grandchildren: Jim Wood of Titus, Sarah, Anna Beth and Jordan Prater of Alexander City and Andrew and Joshua Prater of Newnan, GA. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gassett Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Library Fund at Ft. Tolouse Baptist Church in Wetumpka.

DiVICINO, Vincent Joseph, age 68, a resident of Millbrook, AL, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at a local hospital. Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel with Father David Tokarz officiating. Mr. DiVicino was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church and a U. S. Air Force Veteran. Mr. DiVicino is survived by: his wife, Shirley DiVicino of Millbrook , AL; daughters: Nicole Gafford of Prattville, AL, Cristina DiVicino of Millbrook, AL; sons: Edward DiVicino of Millbrook, AL, Kevin DiVicino of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Angela Cantrell of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Jerry DiVicino of Las Vegas, NV and 7 grandchildren. Rosary Service will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family ass in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Bede Catholic Church in his memory.

A Memorial Service will be held following the visitation on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 pm with Reverend Craig Holmes officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Mr. Andress is survived by: his wife, Lucille Andress, Troy, AL; 2 daughters: Connie Cain and Rhonda Andress Goforth, both of Troy; 3 sons: Joe M. Andress, Moody, AL, Terry L. (Lisa) Andress, Marianna, FL and Alan B. Andress of Troy, AL; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and his sisters and brothers-inlaw: Janice and A. C. Castleberry, Troy, AL and Martha Jo and Jim Purcell, of York, AL. He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Evelyn M. Andress; sisters: Anita Paul and Charlotte Wilke and his grandson, Johnathan Lee Andress.

CARTER, Mr. George L., Sr., a former resident of Tuskegee Institute, AL, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 in an out of town assisted living facility. Funeral arrangements and relatives will be announced by the People’s Funeral Home.

CONAWAY, Mrs. Lera Birchfield

CONAWAY, Mrs. Lera Birchfield, 88, a resident of Goodwater Alabama, died on Monday October 28, 2002 at a local hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vistula and Arthur Birchfield, her husband Charles Purvis Conaway. She is survived by one son, Charles Arthur Conaway of Prattville, and one daughter, Candy and her husband Griff Harris of Montgomery. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kelly and Dustin Conaway; Julie and Griffin Harris.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29 from 6 to 8 pm at Radney Funeral Home, Alexander City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30 at 11 am at Goodwater United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goodwater United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 32, Goodwater, Alabama 35072.

SIKES, Mrs. Carolyn

SIKES, Mrs. Carolyn, 74, a resident of Lapine, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM in the Chapel of Turner’s Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Leverette, Rev. J. L. Jones and Rev. Dean Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Petrey Cemetery with Turner’s Funeral Home of Luverne directing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mr. Calvin Sikes, and a brother, Mr. Billy Sikes. She is survived by: three children, James (Jan) Sikes, Pine Level, AL, Danny (Cecil) Sikes, Montgomery, AL, Mickey (Rhonda) Sikes, Lapine, AL; 7 grandchildren; 1 greatgrandchild; three sisters: Calvin Sunday and Sylvia Grissett, Troy, AL and Elizabeth Boyd, Lapine, AL. Active pallbearers will be: Mike Grissett, Buddy Sikes, Brett Sikes, Lee Sikes, Will Sikes, Tim Sikes, Randy Boyd and Kenny Boyd.

CHANDLER, Walter B., Jr.

CHANDLER, Walter B., Jr., a longtime resident of Eclectic, Alabama, who was living in Gulf Shores, Alabama at the time of his death, died Monday, October 21, 2002 in Gulf Shores after a battle with liver 004 . 0000.00þcancer. He was 85 years of age. Major Chandler was a participant in the D-Day Invasion at Red Beach, Normandy, a World War II veteran serving as the Commanding Officer of the First Company, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, Bamberg, Germany. Major Chandler received the Silver Star and Bronze Star for gallantry under fire in the European Campaigns and was later awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action in the Korean War while campaigning near the Puson Reservoir. Major Chandler also received two Purple Hearts and numerous Army Commendation awards during his career.

Survivors include: his son, Judge Walter B. Chandler, III, of Gulf Shores, Alabama; two sisters, Virginia Lanoue of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Wanda French of Fairfield, Illinois; a grandson, Eric David Chandler of Gulf Shores, Alabama; a granddaughter, Leslie Meredith Vogelsberg of Faribault, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren: Lauren Bailey Peterson, Brett Vogelsberg and Lindsey Beth Vogelsberg, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Mausoleum Chapel at West View Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. A graveside service including military honors was held thereafter. Funeral arrangements were served by H. M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home in Atlanta, Georgia.

SAMS, Mr. Leroy Warren, Jr.

SAMS, Mr. Leroy Warren, Jr. passed away October 27, 2002. Mr. Sams was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery and a retired professional photographer.

He is survived by: his wife, Catherine Sams; son, Shelby McCluer Sams; brother, Charles McCluer Sams and sister, Marsha Sams Thrift, both of Winston-Salem, NC.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 29, between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery. Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, 205-251-7227, is directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Brain Cancer Research Program at UAB Hospital.

MYRA LOUISE McNEIL PASCOE

Myra Louise McNeil Pascoe, 63, a homemaker, died Tuesday, October the 22nd, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. Services were 10:00 am, Saturday, October the 26th, 2002 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh, MS, with burial in Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery, in Pineville, MS.

Mrs. Myra Pascoe recently moved to Brownsville, Tenn. from Montgomery, AL where she had been a resident for forty years. Mrs. Myra Pascoe was a member of the Church of Christ.

Myra was born in Pineville, MS and graduated from Raleigh High School in 1958 in Raleigh, MS.

Suvivors include: her husband of 19 years, Charles D. L. Pascoe of Brownsville, Tenn; son, Albert Lee Tramel, Montgomery, AL; daughter, Bethany Louise Tramel Sexton and son-in-law, Dennis Wayne Sexton of Montgomery, AL; brothers: Loyd McNeil, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Alton Lewis McNeil, Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters: Mary McNeil Dougherty, Charleston, SC, Bess McNeil Little, Raleigh, MS, Zelda McNeil Bailey, Jackson, MS; grandsons: Michael Chad Sexton, Gabriel Wayne Sexton, Jonathan Christian Tramel; granddaughters: Meredith Anne Tramel Brooms, Lindsay Amanda Tramel, Taylor McNeil Tramel; great-granddaughters: Madison Victoria Brooms and Isabelle Ashton Brooms.

WARNER, Darryl V.

WARNER, Darryl V., 64, of Slidell, LA passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2002, at Slidell Memorial Hospital, of colon cancer. He is the beloved husband of: C. Lillian Dick Warner, of Slidell, LA; father of: GySgt Darryl V. Warner, Jr., USMC, Arlington, VA and Cheryl Warner Lavigne, Slidell, VA; the son of: J. D. Warner, Marston, MO and the late Henderson and Helen Piper; brother of the late Baxter Eugene Warner. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Angelina R. LaGarde, Amber L. Warner, Julia C. Lavigne, Bonnie E. Lavigne, Matthew C. Lavigne and Darryl V. Warner, III.

Mr. Warner was a native of Reform, MS, former resident of Montgomery, AL and resident of Slidell. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 173, F & A.M., Montgomery, AL as well as Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was a former member of the Lion’s Club and Boy Scouts of America in Montgomery, AL; St. Tammany Fire District Commissioner; Former Member of Causeway Commission; Former Treasurer and Member of Board of Directors at Slidell Little Theater; Former President of Greater Area Slidell Chamber of Commerce; Past Duke of Krewe De La Botte Dominique; former King of Persus -1999; Past Duke of Slidell Women’s Civic Club Ball; Member of Ozone Camellia Club and Kiwanis; Former owner of St. Tammany Paper Co., Inc., and owner of The Sandwich Man, Inc.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral which will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, LA, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug McAllister officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday after 12 noon until funeral time.
