She considered Tallassee, Alabama, her home although she moved to Florida in 1995 to be closer to her family. She retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was an active member of the East Tallassee Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mance McKenzie. KINOY, Arthur, a friend of Montgomery’s Movement known as the “people’s lawyer“, passed on September 19, 2003 in his home in Montclair, New Jersey. Kinoy served as co-counsel with Montgomery Attorney Charles Conley for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the 1955-56 Montgomery Bus Boycott Movement. She is survived by two daughters Betty Jane Jones of Atlanta, Ga., and Marjorie Alice Harris of Montgomery, Al., step daughter Johnnie Bartelson of Defiance, OH., one son Raymond A. Petty of Yorba Linda, Ca., fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Andrew Harris, Wayne Harris, and other grandsons.
