SHIPP, Sara Hamby, 87, a resident of Montgomery, Al., died Sunday, July 10, 2005. Private Graveside services will be held. Mrs. Shipp is preceded in death by her husband Quinton Ernest Shipp and her daughter Patsy Shipp Wingard. She is survived by one son Neal Hamby Shipp and his wife Phyllis, one daughter Brenda Shipp Parkman and her husband Dean, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two brothers Joseph C. Hamby and his wife Hellen of Gainsville, Ga., and Fred K. Hamby and his wife Joan of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

SMITH, James H., Mst. Sgt., USAF (Ret)

SMITH, James H., Mst. Sgt., USAF (Ret), 76, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died Sunday, July 10, 2005. Services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev Stan Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Smith served his country faithfully in Okinawa, Japan, Korea and Germany before retiring from the USAF. He was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masons, the Shriners and the Scottish Rite Temple. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ann E. Smith; one son, John C. Smith (Jennifer), one daughter, Angela C. Nation (Robert); one grandson, Aubrey Smith; three granddaughters, Jami-Ann Nation, Paula Nation, and Dana Nation; two sisters, Minnie Ruth (Griffin), and Wylene Ellis (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

HAND, Jeanne Robinson, 84, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2005, at Baptist Medical Center South. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005, at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hand retired from the State of Alabama, Department of Motor Vehicles, after fifteen years of service. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Edgar Hand, Prattville, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Gerald Kelly, Greer, SC, Janet and Jules Hobbie, Dothan, AL; seven grandchildren, Donna Fox, Tracy Sargent, David Kelly, Christopher Hobbie, Patrick Hobbie, Valerie Hobbie and Amanda Fuentes; two great-grandchildren, Josie Fox and Corie Fox; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and James Pate, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church, c/o The Library, 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel one hour prior to her service Thursday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 am.

JOHNSON, Mr. Lee, 78, a resident of Montgomery, AL, made a peaceful transition Wednesday, July 6, 2005. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. from Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor William Bradford, officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, with Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. He was the beloved husband of Maggie Johnson; father of ten children (two daughters preceded him in death). Five sons: John (Brenda) Johnson, Donald Johnson, Robert (Michelle) Johnson, Miami, FL.; Melvin (Annie) Johnson, Wesley Johnson; a devoted grandson raised as a son, Gregory (Michiru) Johnson, San Diego, CA.; three daughters: Priscilla Owens, Arlene Johnson, Sallie (Johnny) Brundidge; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A special thank you to the nurses on Five East and the Critical Care Unit at Jackson Hospital.

CARLISLE, Rebecca Marie, 48, a resident of Wetumpka passed away Sunday July 10, 2005. Survivors include her husband Clinton Carlisle of Wetumpka, AL, parents Warren and Rose Hockman of Dadeville, AL and sister Melissa Thorp of Havanna, FL. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

GUNTER, Annie Laurie Cain, a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL, died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at her residence. Services will be held at The First Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 AT 11:00AM with the Reverend Dale Huff and the Reverend Robert Wisnewski officiating. BICE, Grace Moncrief, 82, a resident of Prattville, AL passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005. She is survived by four daughters, Carol Moore (James) of Burnsville, AL; Lila Scott (Charles) of Prattville, AL; Sara Hollon (Willard) of Prattville, AL and Gail Achord (La-rry) of Tallassee, AL; step-daughter Mildred Moates of Prattville, AL; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons Derrell Moore, Darren Scott, Shon Scott, Steve Hollon, Jason Achord and Dallas Achord. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and her grandson Billy Moore. Visitation will be held at Ridout's on Tuesday, July 12th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from Autaugaville United Methodist Church with Rev. Rusty Burleson and Dr. Rick Patterson officiating. She will lie in state from one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Skidmore is survived by her mother: Elsie G. Shanks; one daughter Erin S. (Michael) Vineyard of Prattville, AL; one son Steven B. (Julie) Fields of Autaugaville; one sister Augusta S. Ross of Autaugaville; two brothers: William "Bill" H. Shanks of Prattville and Albert A. Shanks, JR of McGregor, TX and three grandchildren: Emily Vineyard, Bailey Fields and Will Fields. Pallbearers will be Trey Shanks, Adam Shanks, Carl Wilson, Tony Piedra, Andy Wendland and Paul Middlebrooks. Ridout's Prattville Chapel directing. Mr. Stough was preceded in death by his daughter Vivian Stough and one son Mark Stough. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Stough; two sons, David Stough Jr. of Louisiana and James Stough of Prattville; three daughters, Kaye Stough, Cindy Bailey and Nancy Crossfield all of Prattville; brother, A.J. SMITH, Mr. Judson Marlin "Juddy"

SMITH, Mr. Judson Marlin "Juddy", of Shelby AL passed away July 8, 2005 at Shelby Baptist Hospital. Mr. Smith was a native of Montgomery where he graduated from the University of Alabama, Class of 1962, and served in the U.S. Navy for 29 years where he served as a Naval Commander. He was a resident of Slidell, La., for 20 years, he moved to Shelby two years ago. He was a member of Eastaboga Baptist Church and a member of the VVA. He is survived by his wife, Theresa T. Smith of Shelby; three daughters, Tracy A. Smith of Birmingham, Alison S. Acton of Birmingham and Kristen C. Stinson of McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey; two sisters, Emma A. Smith of Montgomery and Carolyn S. Frantz of Pinson; and three brothers, the Rev. Andrew L. Smith, David Smith and Willard Smith, all of Montgomery. Members of the U.S. Navy were active pallbearers. His nephews were the honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Lung Association. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega directed the service which was held on July 10, 2005 at the Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rodney Prickett and the Rev. Andrew L. Smith officiating.

LOWREY, Omie Cain. Funeral services for Omie Cain Lowrey, 87, of Bastrop, LA was held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Edwards and the Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Interment followed at Causey Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Lowrey, a homemaker, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Cherry Ridge Guest Care Center. She was an active member of Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. for 50 years, and a present member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Lowrey is survived by a sister, Louise Coody of Bastrop; a special nephew, Charles Coody and his wife Becky of Bastrop and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lowrey, and by her parents. Pallbearers were the deacons of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church.

JORDAN, Betty S., 74, of Montgomery, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. She was married to her loving and devoted husband, Dr. Jim F. Jordan, Sr., for 48 years. She was loved by her children, Judy Jordan (Greg) Crews and Dr. Jimmy (Beth) Jordan , Jr. She is survived by a sister, Jo Anne Slay, two brothers, Dr. Glen Sanders, Dr. John (Loraine) R. Sanders; grandchildren, Greg Crews, Jr., Chad Crews, Elizabeth Jordan, Susan Jordan and Catherine Jordan. We anticipate our glorious reunion in Heaven. "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." I Corinthians,2:9.

GRIFFIN, Carrie S., 82, died Saturday, July 16, 2005 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 10:00 AM from Leak-Memory Chapel with graveside services to follow at 2:30 PM from the Louisville Cemetery, Louisville, AL. She is survived by a daughter, Susan M. Spivey, Wetumpka; six sons, James A. Griffin (Glenda)-Montgomery, AL; Thomas M. Griffin (Patsy)-Dallas, TX; John Howard Griffin (Cassandra) Mobile, AL; Robert L. Griffin & Donald R. Griffin both of Wetumpka, AL; and Jeffrey L. Griffin-Chicago, IL; six sisters; one brother; 16 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren and was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Alexander Griffin. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

HARDING, Margaret A., 92 a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away Friday, July 15, 2005. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 19 at 10:00 AM from the First Baptist Church of Winter Park, FL; burial will follow with Carey-Hand Cox Park Funeral Home of Winter Park directing. She leaves behind two children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

PRUETT, Eleanor Clements, 91, a native Montgomerian, passed away at home on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Visitation will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stanley Hartman officiating. "Babe" as she was known by all her friends was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Pruett, Sr.; her parents, Emma and A. Kirby Clements, Sr.; her brother A. Kirby Clements, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bunch Clements; and her twin sister Evelyn Bricken. She is survived by her two sons: James G. Pruett, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama, and Kirby Pruett (Mary Dennis) of Canton, Georgia. she is survived by seven grandchildren and spouses and 10 great grandchildren. She is survived by two nieces, Carolyn Sasser and Eleanor Kohn; two nephews, George Clements and A.K. Clements, III; one sister-in-law Dot Pruett and two very close friends, Evelyn Britton and Edwina Walker. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to: Trinity Presbyterian Church 1728 S. Hull Street, Montgomery, AL. 36104 or Eastside Baptist Church, 2450 Lower Roswell Rd. Marietta, Ga. 30068 or ones favorite charity.

SALVINO, Daniel

SALVINO, Daniel, 60, a resident of Montgomery since 1979 died Friday, July 15, 2005. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service. After retirement he worked as a contractor and most recently was employed by the Civil Service at Gunter AFS. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Salvino; one son, Mike (Linda) Baker; sister, Elaine Piacente of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Baker, Ryan Baker and Allie Baker; nephews, Danny Piacente, Robert Piacente and Michael Piacente; aunt, Bea Zagha and uncle, Eli Zaghs of Brooklyn, NY. Chapel services will be Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 11:00 AM from Leak-Memory Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

WIXON, William Wade

WIXON, William Wade, 1970-2005, succumbed July 15th to injuries received in a traffic accident a week earlier. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his mother Wanda Wixon and his Step-father Garry Bowers of Wetumpka; his brother Fred Wixon and his wife Julie of Montgomery; his sister Stormy McDonald and her husband Mark of Wetumpka; his brother Bobby Wixon and his wife Dawn of Hope Hull and his sister Paris Wixon of Hope Hull. His father, Frederick Alfred Wixon preceded him in death. Survivors include the following nephews and nieces: Freddie and Raiichelle Wixon and children, Destiny and Zeke of Montgomery; Nichole and BJ Liebengood of Atlanta; Andy Wixon and Stephanie Wixon of Montgomery. Rob Smith and daughter Cassidy Smith, Summer and Scott Pate and daughter Sommer, and Jennifer McDonald and son Chase Murchison of Elmore County. Sunny Smith and son Will Bethea, and Kelli McDonald of Wetumpka. Mark McDonald Jr. of Camp Pendleton, California. Autumn Arthur and daughter Jordan of Millbrook. Leif Wixon and Codie Wheat of Hope Hull. Survivors also include cousins Christy Armistead, her husband Bruce and their daughters Samantha and Kitty of Birmingham and Randi Ward, her husband Joe and daughters Audrey and Abby of New Jersey. Will also leaves numerous close friends behind. Visitation will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at Leak-Memory Chapel on Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Wixon, Bobby Wixon, Rob Smith, Freddie Wixon, Leif Wixon, and Andy Wixon. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Peek, Bruce Armistead and Mark McDonald Jr.. Will was employed with The Industrial Athlete in Birmingham, Alabama. The youngest of five children, he will be remembered for his love, his devotion to his family and friends and for the breath taking hugs and kisses that he shared with them all. Will's smile will always shine with anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was always able to touch the hearts of those he knew.
