SANDERS, Mrs. Eunice F., 93, a resident of Dozier, AL died Sunday August 1, 2010. Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday August 3, 2010 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Hogwood officiating. Interment will follow in Sanders Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Sanders is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Sanders. Survivors include her step- daughter, Margaret Pursell; three grandchildren, David (Carol) Pursell, John (Gail) Pursell and Paul (Tammy) Pursell; one great grandchild; three sisters, Elizabeth Hemby, Dorothy Prescott and Vernie Harville; and two brothers, Virgil Fallin and Glenn (Judy) Fallin.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1 pm until service time.

OWEN, Carroll Stringer

OWEN, Carroll Stringer, of Dothan passed away Sunday, August, 1, 2010. She was 86 years old. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler County with Rev. Allen Winn officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home in Greenville. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation. She was born to the late Joe Frank Stringer and Ruby Daniel Stringer on October 8, 1923. Also preceding her in death was her husband, W. J. Owen. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Suzanne) Owen of Pansey and Gary Owen of Black; two grandchildren, Dr. Kristen (Lee) Riley of Birmingham and Brian (Angie) Owen of Florence; four great-grandchildren.

MORRISON, Rev. Gordon L., 83, born Jan. 12, 1927 in Goshen, AL to the late Sam and Myrtle Cosby Morrison passed away Saturday July 31, 2010 in Crestview, Florida. He was an Assembly of God minister for over 60 years, pastoring churches in South Alabama and Northwest Florida. survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 64 years, Alice Twynette Deavers Morrison, his only child, Patricia (Pat) and Malcom Presley of Crestview and several nieces and nephews. Floral arrangements will be accepted or donations can be made to Covenant Hospice, 370 Redstone Drive Crestview, FL 32536. Visitation is Tuesday Aug. 3 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home, Crestview. Funeral service will be Wednesday Aug. 4, 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. HATLEY, Patricia G. (Patti) passed away on Wednesday November 24, 2010 from a long term illness at Jackson Hospital. She was an accountant with the State Department of Education until her retirement in 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Lindsey Renee Smith and Alison Leah Smith; and husband Brian Alvin Hatley. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Sunday at 2 pm at 606 Putnam St. Montgomery, AL. Friends and extended family members are invited to attend. He is survived by his wife, Maria Trinidad-Swenson; children, Christopher Eric Swenson, Kristina Joy Arocha, Charlotte L. Meier, Douglas T. Meier, and Derrick T. Meier; brother, William George Swenson; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Nathan and Olivia Arocha and Julianna Grace Swenson. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.1, at Gassett Funeral Home, followed by Funeral services in the chapel at 7 p.m. Mr. Swenson will be buried at a later date in Mt. HAMMOCK, Kenneth Leon, Sr., of Dallas, GA, was born February 18, 1943, in Tallapoosa County, AL, and passed away November 29, 2010, at Bethany House in Auburn, AL. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Willie Joe Hammock and sister Martha O'Daniel Ferguson. He is survived by his mother Bonnie Jean Hammock; sons Ken Hammock, Jr. of Charleston, SC and Michael (Jenn) of Dallas, GA, grandson Ethan Hammock, brother Billy Ralph (Rita) Hammock, a good friend Dorcas Wilkins Hammock, the mother of his children, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Liberty United Methodist Church, 5607 Tallapoosa St., Notasulga, AL, on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. The celebration of life will be at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fred Grady officiating. Ken was a member of the Opelika Jaycees when he lived in the area. He joined the Kiwanis Club in Hogansville and served as the Secretary, President and Lt. Gov. of the State Kiwanis Club. He served on the city council in Hogansville for two terms. DIAMOND, Boots C., died on January 5, 2011; she was born December 2, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida to Fred and Julia Carroll, survived by her husband of 58 years Sam Diamond, daughter Denise (DD) Kagey, and grandchildren Daniel Lee Kagey, Denver CO and Anne Diamond Kagey, Atlanta, GA. Her sister Audrey Draper of Jacksonville, Florida survived her. The funeral services will be Saturday January 8, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Leak-Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, AL, with Chaplain Winston Brooks officiating. She was a nationally accredited Flower Show Judge, a member and past President of Judges Council 6 in Montgomery and the Alabama Council of Flower Show Judges. She was a member and past President of Forsythia Garden Club, a past President of the Montgomery Federation of Garden Clubs and a member and past Chairman of its Board of Trustees. She served as Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and District VI Director of the Garden Club of Alabama. She was a member and past President of the Arrowhead Estates Garden Club. She was a charter member of the Central Alabama Master Gardener Association and an active member of the Capital City Master Gardener Association. Boots enjoyed her family, gardening, participating in and judging Flower shows in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Concerts and Alabama Shakespeare Theater performances were never missed. She and her husband loved traveling over the U.S. and to many foreign countries. She will be missed by her family, her garden club and master garden members and many other friends. MARKHAM, John Robert Sr.

MARKHAM, John Robert Sr. (Bob) passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Montgomery Al. Bob was born in Decatur Al. on November 19, 1926. He was a graduate of Auburn University and majored in industrial design. He had an outstanding career with Broyhill Furniture Industries. He was a resident of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, Memphis, Tn., and Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. before moving to Montgomery in 1974. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mary Covington Markham, his son, Decarr Logan Markham, and his Grandson Logan Decarr Markham. He is survived by his daughter, Julia Anna Markham, and his two sons, John Robert (Vicki) Markham Jr. and Alfonso Blake (Ann) Markham, his Granddaughters Abigail Christine Markham (Jake) Houseright, Lauren Ann Markham, and his grandson, John Robert Markham III. Bob was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, and a true friend to those who knew him. He was loved and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. He was an avid bridge player and was thankful to continue playing up until a few days before his death. As his health declined he focused on the positives in his life. His sense of humor and wit, and his unwavering faith in God were his strongest allies in his most trying times. Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 906 Pike Rd., Pike Road Al. at 1 PM, Saturday January 8, 2011. Visitation will begin at 12 in the parish hall and there will be a gathering for friends and family at Blake Markham's home after the service. RODGERS, Rilzia Livingston, age 86 passed away at her home Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rodgers. SEMPLE, T. Darrington, Jr. 84, passed away in Montgomery, AL on Thursday January 6, 2011. Darry was a native of Armonk, NY and resided in Bronxville and Rye NY before retiring to Boca Grande and Sarasota FL. Darry served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from the University of Alabama Law School and practiced corporate law for American Reinsurance Company (now Munich Re) in New York, New York. He carried his Alabama law license until his death. He retired in 1989 due to Parkinson's disease and he bravely fought this disease for 21 years. He is survived by his adored wife Florence Evans, his two daughters who considered him their hero, Emily Semple and Sarah-Ellen Thompson (Steven), his four grandchildren Michael Darrington Zennache', Katherine Rose Semple, Florence Elizabeth Thompson and Steven Darrington Thompson; his two nephews E. Holt Hamlett and Burton Scott Price; his six nieces Rosa H. Davis (Steve), Florence H. Young (Bob), Ellen H. Harris (Johnny), Vivian Hamlett (LeRoy McEntire), Hannah P. Morgan (Richard), C. Bibb B. Coyne (Shawn); his brother-in-law Randolph Evans (Peyton) and his sisters-in-law Ann E. Price and Peyton B. Evans. A memorial service will be held at Saint John's Episcopal Church on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with The Reverend Robert Wisnewski officiating.
