COBB, Mr. William Everett, 78, a resident of Montgomery died Wednesday May 18, 2011. Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday May 21, 2011 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Neal Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Centenary Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Cobb is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Rosie Lee Welch Cobb. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Kana Tanner Cobb; two daughters, Janet (Mike) Byrd and Judy Cobb; three grandchildren, Lindsey Wright, Andy Hipps and Austin Hipps; and two great grandchildren, Faith McCabe and Cody Andrews. JOHNSTON, (Msgt, Ret.) Mark Irving, of Wetumpka, died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 with his family by his side. Born at Tyndall AFB, FL on July 28, 1960 to Renford and Rennie Johnston. He retired from the Air Force in 2001 and worked at Gunter AFB at the time of his death. Mark is survived by his parents, Renford and Rennie Johnston; wife, Debra Johnston; a son, Eric (Meagan) Johnston; a daughter, Hillary Johnston; one brother, Matthew G. Johnston; a sister, Ashley (Michael) McCormick; three grandchildren, Kylie Jackson, Abby Grace and Gage Johnston.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 at Leak Memory Chapel with Rev. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Materna. Mr. Materna served in the US Navy on the USS CANBERRA from 1942 until 1946 and then served in the US Air Force from 1946 until 1966. JACKSON, Alto Loftin, Sr.

JACKSON, Alto Loftin, Sr. age 97, a life-long resident of Clio, Alabama died Saturday, July 16, 2011. He was the oldest child of William Alto Jackson and Lula Jane Loftin Jackson. Jackson graduated from Barbour County High School in 1931, the College of Commerce at the University of Alabama in 1935, and University of Alabama School of Law in May 1937. In 1994, he received honorary membership into Omicron Delta Kappa at the University of Alabama. March 28, 1941, he married Emma Pearl Norton, Louisville, Alabama, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Olon Norton, Sr. He practiced law in Clayton and Clio until he volunteered for the U.S. Army where he remained in the Judge Advocate Division until 1945. Jackson was deeply involved in his professional practice and in his business, farming, and numerous commitments. He was a long-time member and chairman of the Barbour County Board of Education, member of the Clio First United Methodist Church, and a teacher for the adult Sunday School class for many years. In 1967, he associated with Troy University as a teacher. He served as Deputy Director, Troy University at Fort Rucker and as Chairman of the Business faculty at the same institution. The award of Associate Professor Emeritus was conferred upon Jackson at Commencement of Troy University/Dothan, December 13, 2004. Jackson was a capable, prolific writer. He authored So Mourns the Dove in 1965, Clio, Alabama; a History in 1980, A Chronicle of My Remembering in 1997, and Reflections in 2002, as well as numerous publications of historical and genealogical nature. He was one of the founders of the Amariah B. Stubbs, Sr. Historical Association. The A.B. Stubbs, Sr. Manuscript Collection at the Dale County Library, Ozark, Alabama, creates a perpetual resource of historical nature. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jane Grace Jackson Pelfrey, and his brother, Samuel W. Jackson, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emma Pearl Norton Jackson; two daughters, Caroline Jane Jackson, Arlington, Virginia; Pearl Norton Jackson Strawbridge and her husband, Ronald H. Strawbridge, Sr., Vernon, Alabama; two sons, Dr. Alto Loftin Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Tricia A. Jackson, Montgomery, Alabama; Robert Olon Jackson and his wife, Brittany H. Jackson, Birmingham, Alabama; six grandchildren, Caroline Jackson Strawbridge, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Ronald H. Strawbridge, Jr. and his wife, Audrey Oswalt Strawbridge, Fayette, Alabama; Barrett Beatrice Jackson and Jillian Loftin Jackson of Durham, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.; Julia Elizabeth Jackson and Thomas Christopher Jackson of Houston and Dallas, Texas; two great-grandsons, Langston Howard Strawbridge and Hollis Loftin Strawbridge, Fayette, Alabama; cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care of caregivers Patricia Sapp, Patricia McLeod and Otha White, all of Clio. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20 at Keahey Funeral Home, Highway 10 South, Clio, Alabama, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at Clio United Methodist Church, Highway 10 South, Thursday, July 21 at 3 p.m. The body will lie in state at the church an hour prior to the funeral service. The service will be conducted by Rev. Thad Chesser, Mobile, Alabama, and Rev. William Bernard Easterling, Clio, Alabama. Interment will be at Pea River Cemetery, Highway 51 North, following the funeral service. ROUNTREE, Mrs. Maggie Lou, 93, of LaGrange died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Rountree was born January 12, 1918 in Evergreen, AL, daughter of the late James Ira Padgett and Nancy Ann Rabren Padgett. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and a former member of Sepulga Baptist Church in Evergreen. Mrs. Rountree was a faithful member of the Troup County Senior Center for many years and was an avid quilter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Dempsey Rountree, granddaughter, Kathy Lindsay, and brothers, Irvin, Carmen, Olen, and Cecil Padgett, and sisters, Annie Mae Owens, Virgie Lee Taylor, and Loree Davis. Survivors include three children, Frances L. Booth (William), Marcus Rountree (Nan), and Ted Rountree (Charlotte); grandchildren, Peggy Jackson (Rob), Linda Koons, Bradley Rountree, Alan Rountree, Devon Rountree, Katrina Allen (Curley), Jennifer Trammel (Michael), and Jeffrey Rountree; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great- grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Cone. HUNT, Ansley E.

HUNT, Ansley E., 87, was born on August 31, 1923 and passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 17, 2011. A devoted husband and beloved father, he was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Barbara Hunt, wife of 43 years, Mavis Hunt, brothers, Joey, Grover and Aldred and sister Jeffie. He is survived by sons Ansley H. Hunt (Vicki) and Tommy Hunt (Lynne), grandchildren Ashley Hunt and Ansley A. Hunt (Jennifer), and great-grandsom Ansley Davis Hunt. Born in Pine Level, he lived in Montgomery before moving to Birmingham in 1955. He was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church since 1980 and he served the church faithfully as a Deacon and Life Deacon. In 2002, he established the Biblical Resource Center at Mountain Brook Baptist to provide support for the staff, missionaries, teachers and members in their Biblical training and studies. In addition, he loved the outdoors, college football and travel. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciating to caregivers Leroy Harris, Michael Scott and Kelvin Nalls for their abundant love and skilled care. Services for Mr. Hunt will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel with internment following at Elmwood Cemetery.
