TOMBERLIN, Mr. Joseph K. "Tubby", 80, a resident of Glenwood, AL died Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 7, 2011 from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Leverette and Rev. Bobby Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Tomberlin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Byrd Tomberlin; his daughter & son-in-law, Patricia & Todd Parker; his granddaughter, Madison Parker; his sister, Frances Eiland; and his brother, Wilburn (Lalar) Tomberlin. Active pallbearers will be Clint Byrd, Mike Byrd, John Hoffman, Johnny Nichols, T.J. Morrow, and Vernon Moody. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 - 8 pm.

CAMPBELL, Carol Crocker

CAMPBELL, Carol Crocker was born December 15, 1955, to Richard Crocker and Dorothy Ann Rittmanic. She grew up in Pike Road, Alabama, and resided in Montgomery, Alabama. She passed away on October 1, 2011, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was awaiting a lung transplant at the Mayo Clinic. Carol is survived by her husband, Charles Campbell; her children, Jeremy(Christine) Tuttle, Katie(David) Tuttle Sullivan and David(Dena) Campbell; her grandchildren, Alicia Campbell, Meagan Campbell, Kristen Campbell, Madison Meyer, Rachel Sullivan, Samuel Sullivan and Andrew Sullivan; her siblings, Kim Kent, Cheryl Defee and Susan Lysiak. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dear friend to many and a faithful employee at Hill, Hill, Carter for over 20 years. The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 7, 2011, at Thorington Road Baptist Church, 450 Ray Thorington Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36117. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her memory to the Mayo Clinic Lung Transplant Program at the following address: Mayo Clinic Department of Development, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32224.

RAUB, F. Marietta Toward

RAUB, F. Marietta Toward, age 70 years and 11 months, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2011 after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Col. Gene L. Raub; a daughter, Kara D. Raub. She was born the daughter of Francis and John Toward on October 14, 1940 in McDonald, Penn. All her siblings survive her, Bill, Ed, Jim & Betty Jean Toward and Bonnie Tournay, all of McDonald, Penn. Bonnie and Marietta were care givers half of each year for the past 10 years for Betty Jean as she was born with Down syndrome. Marietta and Gene met in Japan while she was a Flight Attendant and he was a USAF Captain Aviator, both flying and traveling much of the world. They were married in Penn., Nov. 8, 1969. Their daughter Kara Dawn Raub was born June 15, 1973 in North Carolina and resides in Alabama. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Followed by a graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery, Garden of Gethsemane. Marietta was a soul winner, a great cook, enjoyed arts and crafts, and was an unbelievable self taught yoderler and guitar player. RUSSELL, Mrs. Julia Grant

RUSSELL, Mrs. Julia Grant, 99, and the 7th child of a family of eight, was born April 7, 1912 in Montgomery, AL to the late Jordan and Callie Grant. She peacefully departed this life at Jackson Hospital on Wednesday, September 15, 2011. Her husband, Edward Douglas Russell, preceded her in death. To this union one daughter, Juliette Edwina, was born. She accepted Christ at an early age at Hall St Baptist Church. Julia attended the Montgomery Industrial School (Miss White's School) and Alabama State Laboratory High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree, both from Alabama State University. Further studies were undertaken at Chicago State University, Chicago, IL. Her teaching experiences spanned more than 50 years - from Alabama to Illinois. She retired from the Chicago Public School System in 1986. She was a member of the National Sorority of Zeta Phi Beta. She also was a member of the National Association of Female Executives. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted daughter, Juliette Allen/William, one granddaughter, Yolanda Allen Patterson/Christopher, one great-grandson, Christopher Patterson, Jr., three nephews, Arnold Grant - Chicago, IL, James Grant - Montgomery, AL and William Grant - Cincinnati, OH, one niece - Oteal Stone, Chicago, IL, seven great nieces and two great nephews. Two dedicated caregivers - Linda McMeans and Felicia Webster. A special thanks to Dr. John Jernigan and Dr. Wesley Barry. Private ceremony.

GOODWIN, William "Bill", 77, of Birmingham, and a native of Prattville, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011. Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Goodwin; daughter, Rebecca "Melissa" Corwin; brothers, Hershel and Woodrow Goodwin; and a sister, Mary Tyler. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis (Curtis) Harper, Hoover; son, William A. Goodwin, Prattville; sisters, Vera Louise Bell, Montgomery, Frances Goodwin, Wetumpka; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:45-1:45 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo, Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Funeral services will follow at 1:45 p.m. with Chaplain Ron Mensinger officiating. Mr. Goodwin was retired from the United States Air Force and will be buried with full military honors at Alabama National Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Rockco Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Graves was a loving, dedicated, Christian husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was faithful to Christ and his family and was known for his gentle spirit and ready smile. Left to celebrate his life is his loving wife of 56 yrs., Margaret; daughters, Wanda Whitmire (David), Wilma Berry (Wesley), and Marcia Graves; grandchildren, Celeste Peters (Jeremy), Christine Medina (Ben), Cheridie Kilpatrick (Caleb), Jordan Moorer (Cherish), Megan Moorer, Chelsea Moorer, & Elisa Glasscock (Chuck); nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Graves (Mildred), Mamel Moehring, J.V. Graves (Mable), Grady Graves (Florence), Brady Graves (Carolyn), Norman Graves, & Lieutella Senn (Ray). He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Symbol Johnson, and Flora & Lora Graves and son-in-law, Toby Moorer.
