SHIPMAN, Mr. C. J. a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL departed this life Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 12:15 PM from Ross-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, 1412 Adams Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104 with Rev. Larry Beamon, officiating. Interment will follow in New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Ramer, AL with Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. Mr. Shipman will lie in repose in the chapel one hour prior to the funeral service. He was a member of and served as Deacon at New Providence Baptist Church, Ramer, AL. His beloved family includes: his faithful and loving wife, for many extraordinary years, Catherine; sons, Samuel Lee, Jefferson City, Missouri, USAF (Ret.), Dr. Charles E., Jasper, AL, C. James, Larry and Daniel, Firefighter, Montgomery Fire Dept., all of Montgomery, AL.; daughters, Doris Jean King, Sacramento, CA, Annie Lee Mathews, Richmond, VA; four brothers-in-law, Jeremiah, Arthur, Henry Weatherly, all of Detroit, MI, Harold Harris, Beaufort, SC; three sisters-in-law, Estelle Harris, Beaufort, SC, Phyllis and Addie Weatherly, both of Detroit, MI; also a fruitful vine of several grand and great grandchildren; an entourage of friends, nieces, nephews, acquaintances, and other loved ones; New Providence Baptist and Forest Park Church Family; along with the families of Ms. Stokely, Mr. Banks, Mr. B. WASHINGTON, Mrs. Dorothy, a resident of 3340 Lunceford Street, Montgomery, Al., died Thursday, November 10, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at 12 p.m. from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Montgomery, Al with Rev. Juan D. McFarland, officiating. Burial will be in the Piney Grove #1 Cemetery Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Directing. Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories a very loving and devoted daughter, Jacqueline (Earl) Donald of Montgomery, Al. A daughter-in-law Mary Washington of Montgomery, Al. Dorothy's memories will also be cherished by her siblings Amos Johnson, Mildred Choice, Lois Daniels (Weaver, deceased), W.J. THOMAS, Robert Douglas

THOMAS, Robert Douglas, 80, a resident of Wetumpka, AL passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his daughter's home in Hope Hull. He was preceded by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Holland Thomas in 1989. Doug served as Vice President for the First National Bank of Wetumpka, and also as an Auditor for the Alabama Power Company. Survivors include his daughters, Karen Elizabeth Thomas(Scott) Pugh, of Hope Hull, and Staci Michelle Thomas (Krew) Maynard of Montgomery; and four grandchildren; Alexander Krew "Alex" Maynard, Jonah Thomas Maynard, Elijah Thomas Maynard, and Elizabeth Kingsley "Ellie" Pugh; brothers, George Everette Thomas, John Frederick Thomas and William Ellis Thomas, and a sister, Elma Alice Thomas Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Wetumpka at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, with Dr. James Troglan, T.A. Prickett and Anthony Counts officiating. Burial will follow in Stewart Cemetery in West Blocton, AL in Bibb County at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Sam Turner, Joe Lambert, Henderson Traylor, Wayne Davis, Bobby Barrett, Wes Jacobs, Larry Teel, Fred Slaughter, Willie Kennedy and Jimmy Monk. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

McMURRY, Mr. Johnny W., age 67, a resident of Prattville, AL passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Millbrook 1st United Methodist Church, Millbrook, AL with Pastor Steve MacInnis officiating. Mr. McMurry was a member of Millbrook 1st United Methodist Church and was on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery. Survivors include, wife of 47 years Ginger Lotz McMurry of Prattville, AL; daughter, Susan Heil (Don) of Baton Rouge, LA; son, John McMurry (Maria) of Prattville, AL; sisters, Diane Burnette (Larry) of Lakeland, FL; Janice Johnson (Greg) of Daytona Beach, FL; brother, Larry McMurry (Marilyn) of Green Cove Springs, FL; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. The family will recieve friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Immediately after the memorial service the family will be sharing a meal, all are welcome to join. PARVIN, Jerry Lane

PARVIN, Jerry Lane, 68, of Leeds, died Monday November 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, at 2:00 P.M. at Cubahatchie Baptist Church in Shorter, Alabama. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was born in Biggersville, Mississippi, and moved to Leeds, Alabama, in 1970. He was a proud American who served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. Mr. Parvin is survived by his wife Mattie Parvin; his brother James Parvin; his children Jerry W. Parvin (Tylee), Stacy Newton (Danny), Robby Parvin (Michale), Michelle Wade (Bubba), Christie Schwab (Brian); his grandchildren Cayla Cook, Owen Newton, Joshua Horsley, William Knight, Tessa Parvin, Aliya Parvin, Secret Wilson, Courtney Luce, Victoria McDuffie, Brittni Chambers, Austin Rossi, Dawn Rossi, Loren Schwab & Blake Schwab; and his great grandchildren Kloey Colvert, Grantley Wilson & Cole Courtney. SHELTON, Alyne Howard

SHELTON, Alyne Howard of Tuskegee, Alabama died Saturday, November 12, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest M. Shelton who was also of Tuskegee. They had lived in the Atlanta, GA, area for the last 47 years. Prior to her years in Georgia, she lived in Winston-Salem, N.C., where her husband Forrest was a founding pilot of Piedmont Airlines. During her lifetime Alyne traveled extensively throughout the world and made friends with everyone she met along the way. Her infectious laugh and love of people stayed with her until the end of life. She never held a job outside the home and always put her family first, as it was the focus of her life. Alyne is survived by her loving children Judy Foster and her husband Bruce of Atlanta, GA; Ken Shelton and his wife Mary of Denver, NC; and four grandchildren: Kasey Alyne Foster of NYC, Kate Neyhart of Atlanta and Benjamin and Samuel Shelton of Denver, N.C. A private viewing will be held Thursday morning, Nov. 17, for family members followed by graveside services at the Tuskegee Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Corbitt's Funeral Home in Tuskegee, Alabama.

SMITH, Elizabeth Stephenson

SMITH, Elizabeth Stephenson, age 60, a resident of Letohatchee, AL, passed away at her residence on November 13, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Deposit, AL on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Skipper, Rev. Eric Jackson, Rev. Josh Price officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Myrtlewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church and from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services on Wednesday. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Rogers Smith; daughter, Melody Singleton (Greg), son, Johnny Smith, grandson, Brady Taylor, mother, Irene Stephenson, sister, Adelaide Morris (Chuck), brothers, David Stephenson (Stacy), Gordon Stephenson (Leslie) and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was born on December 25, 1950 in Pike Road, AL. Since 1971, she has served as pianist of Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Deposit, AL. She was employed at Priester's Pecan Company for 34 years. Active pallbearers will be Phillip Adams, Dutch DeJong, Eric Ellis, Thomas Ellis, Bruce McCarty, John Norman, Bruce Parmer, and Jim Wheeler. STEINDORFF, Gilbert Calvin, Jr.

STEINDORFF, Gilbert Calvin, Jr. "Calvin", passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Calvin Steindorff and Florrie Kern Steindorff. He served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII in the European Theatre of Operations. After returning home from the war, he was appointed as Tax Assessor of Butler County at the age of 21 and served at this post for the next 28 years. In 1975 he was appointed Probate Judge of Butler County and served for 20 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a public servant for 48 years and member of many civic organizations and named Greenville Man of the Year. He was a lifelong member and Elder of The First Christian Church where he also served as Secretary. He is survived by his wife of 65 years; Maxine Darby Steindorff and his son, Gilbert (Gil) C. Steindorff III (Debbie) and grandson, Gilbert (Bert) C. Steindorff IV (Amy). He has two great- granddaughters, Margaret Darby and Elizabeth Ann Steindorff of Birmingham. He spent his life serving the people of Butler County with devotion, commitment and selflessness. A visitation will be held for family and friends at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with graveside services to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville, AL with Pastor Tommy Bowman and Rev. Jerry Wilkerson officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. FARRIS, Henrietta Carter

FARRIS, Henrietta Carter, beloved mother and cherished wife of 53 years, was called home by our Lord and Savior on the morning of November 13, 2011. Henrietta was born on June 30th,1935 in Troy, AL to Bennett Jackson Carter & Georgia Pearl Price Folmar Carter who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband, (Ronald C. Farris) and three children; Bernie (Laura) & Brad Farris and Vonda (Charlie) Wood, 5 beautiful grandchildren; Kaitlyn & Devin Farris, Allen, Claire and Caroline Wood and half sister Wilma Langford. She is also preceded in death by her half brothers and sisters; George & Bobby Folmar, Erma Carter Stern, Eira Carter Williford & Willie Joe Carter. married on February 7th, 1958, Henrietta retired from a career in federal service in 1996 and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Montgomery since 1979 where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. "Henri," as she was referred to affectionately by her many friends, was the family matriarch and a fiercely protective mother, faithful, loving wife and above all, a disciple of Christ. She was, in life, a remarkable woman. Confident in her own salvation, never doubting the Lord's will even through a 5-year struggle with cancer, she left praying for the salvation of this world and all those she has known and loved that we might again be united in an eternal family reunion in the kingdom of God. Visitation is scheduled for tonight, Monday the 14th, at 6:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery with funeral service also at Leak on Tuesday, November 15th at 10:00 am followed immediately by internment near Lake Martin at Equality United Methodist Church, Equality AL. COLLIER, Lynda Lowery

COLLIER, Lynda Lowery, nee Lynda Jane Lowery, 71, died at her home in Enterprise on Friday, November 11, 2011, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Enterprise on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church on Huffman Road in Grady, AL with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time at the church. Mrs. Collier was born in Albertville, AL on March 9, 1940, the daughter of Brelen A. Lowery and Ethel Bernelle Chambers Lowery, both of whom preceded her in death. Lynda attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery and graduated with honors from Birmingham-Southern College. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society and her beloved Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority. She taught English at Ensley High School in Birmingham and was later a feature writer for the Southeast Sun in Enterprise. Lynda and her husband of 49 years, Dr. William (Bill) Baxter Collier, Jr. were married in 1962. They were stationed at RAF Lakenheath in England, where their first child, Charles Amos Collier, was born and died in 1967. They returned to Alabama in 1968, settling in Enterprise. Lynda was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, and a founder of the Coffee County Arts Alliance. A life-long Anglophile and lover of English literature, Lynda led tours of England and Scotland and was a devoted patron of the Alabama Shakespeare Theater. Lynda is survived by her husband Bill, their son and daughter-in-law, William (Will) Baxter Collier, III and Beth Herr Collier; daughter and son-in-law, Anne Lynn (Kitty) Collier Mingus and Matthew Mingus; grandsons, Collier and Matthew Mingus; sister, Lauren Elizabeth Lowery; aunt, Connie Dee Chambers Brown. The family wishes to send special thanks to Mary Sue Frazier, Mary Thames, Paula Catrett and Day Spring Hospice for their devotion and care, and to the community of Enterprise for the countless acts of kindness and love during Lynda's long illness.

PIKE, Vera

PIKE, Vera, 85, a resident of Montgomery, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, following a six year battle with Alzheimer's. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at 2 PM, from Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with Visitation beginning at 1 PM. Dr. Rick Marshall will officiate, and interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 63 years, Bob Pike; daughter and caregiver, Brenda "BJ" Hutter; son, Robert Pike (Jean), and youngest daughter, Vicki Pike. DAVIS, Mary Helen

DAVIS, Mary Helen, age 80, died peacefully Nov 11,2011 after a brief illness. Mary Helen was born in Selma, Alabama to Henry and Margaret Lloyd. While attending Auburn University Mary Helen was a DJ at a radio station and was crowned Maid of Cotton. She left college to marry the love of her life, Clint Davis. With their two young daughters Mary Helen and Clint moved to Montgomery which became the home she loved. Mary Helen's life was one of devotion to her family and kindness to others. She was truly a loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her beautiful warm smile and kind heart will be missed. Mary Helen is survived by her daughters Deborah and Susan and grandson Ari. FOLMAR, Emory McCord

FOLMAR, Emory McCord, 81, resident of Montgomery, Alabama died November 11, 2011. Survivors include wife, Anita Pierce Folmar, his sisters, Miriam Pearson Folmar and Anne Folmar Montmeat, his children, Wilson Bibb Folmar III (Deborah O'Connell Folmar) and Margaret Folmar Dauber (Mark Allan Dauber), and grandchildren, Emily Dauber Flowers (William Flowers III), Collins Glasgow Dauber, and Sean Austin Folmar. He is preceded in death by his son, David Pearson Folmar, his brothers, James Murphree Folmar, Oliver Wiley Folmar, and Wilson Bibb Folmar II, and his parents, Marshall Bibb Folmar and Miriam Woods Pearson Folmar. Folmar was born June 3rd, 1930, in Troy, AL, where he lived until his family moved to Montgomery when he was fourteen. After graduating Sidney Lanier High School in 1948, he attended The University of Alabama, where he received his BS in Business in three years, was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and served as cadet colonel of the Army ROTC. Through the ROTC, he received a Regular Army commission and went to Ft. Benning, GA for parachute training and instructors' schools where he was assigned to the 11th Airborne Division attached to the 2nd Infantry Division. He married Anita Pierce in February 1952 and was deployed to Korea that summer. Wounded in action, he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. At the rank of lieutenant, he received the French Croix de Guerre as a result of his actions with the 23rd Regiment of the 2nd Infantry Division and French troops. After Korea, he was assigned to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, as an Airborne Jump Master until 1954. He then moved to Montgomery to join his brother James Folmar and Henry Flynn in construction and sales of government-issue loan funded housing in the Montgomery neighborhood Cloverland. The Folmar brothers' business grew to include large commercial shopping center construction throughout the Southeast. He entered politics at the urging of his son David, running for city council District 8 in 1975. He was elected President of the City Council and then became Mayor of Montgomery from 1977 till 1999. He ran for governor in 1982; served as campaign chairman for Ronald Reagan's finance committee in 1980; state chairman for Reagan in 1984; and chairman for Bush-Quayle in 1988 and 1992. After retiring from politics, he worked as a business consultant and was appointed Commissioner to the Alabama Beverage Control Board by Governor Bob Riley in 2003. After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 14th at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. Claude McRoberts officiating. Graveside pallbearers include Greg Shaner, Darick Wilson, Tracy von Hollen, Steve Thompson, Celia and Randy Dixon, Jim Buckelew, Judge Reese McKinney, and Mike Hunter. Rev. Claude McRoberts and Bill Reagan will speak graveside. Honorary Pallbearers include his Trinity Presbyterian Sunday School class, past kings of the Krewe of the Phantom Host, Will Hill Tankersley, and Bobby Armstrong. Gov. Robert Riley will speak at the memorial service. The elders of Trinity Presbyterian Church will serve as ushers. The family wishes to thank his caregivers: Bernice Smith, ChooChoo Barker, Meme Barker, Gail Chappell, Nail Fort, Rent Jenkins, Kawanda McDade, Vanessa Anderson, Lisa Barker, Amelia Walker, Lulu Speer, and Carolyn Carter. HATFIELD, Hazel Amelia

HATFIELD, Hazel Amelia, 91, formerly of Millbrook, Alabama, died Friday, November 11, 2011 in Huntsville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 am from Prattville Memorial Chapel with Minister Brent Missildine officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hatfield was born in Mississippi and lived most of her life there before moving to Millbrook in 1999. She was an active member of the Prattville Church of Christ. Mrs. Hatfield was preceded in death by her husband, Himel Hatfield; one daughter, Kathrine Hatfield Mosley; one son-in-law, Donald Boothe. She is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Hatfield Boothe, Carolyn Hatfield Bray and Arnold E. Bray; one son-in-law, Jimmy Douglas Mosley; five grandchildren, Melissa Carol Keeton, Anita Kay Mosley Hall, Kimberly Ann Boothe, Jonathan Hatfield Boothe and Mark Hatfield Bray; nine great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Howard Blazer, Tommy Carr, David Erfman, Leo Jamieson, Jason Green, and Sonny Solomon. NELSON, Jerry David, 55, a resident of Deatsville, Alabama died Friday, November 11, 2011. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, in Prattville Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm with Reverend Jim Skinner and Brad Fuller officiating and Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his father, William D. Nelson and one son, George W. Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Mann Nelson; his mother, Sarah Nelson; one daughter, Kathy Doame; two sisters, Nell and Stanley French, Elaine and Bradley Fuller; one brother, David Larry and Jodi McDade; two brother-in-laws, George and Jannette Mann, Stanley and Suzanne Mann; one sister-in-law, Sarah and Alvon Germany; two grandchildren, Craig Doame and Chris Bishop; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Mark Clark, Stanley French, Brad Fuller, Brett Fuller, Andy Knight, Joshua Knight, Larry McDade, Jim Redmond, and Raymond Stodghill. Jerry was an Assistant Manager with Church's Chicken in Prattville and a delivery person for the Montgomery Advertiser for over eighteen years. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Prattville Memorial Chapel.

HATCHER, Mrs. Nancy Lee Fletcher, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2011. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM from Maggie Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ezekiel Pettway, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Eastwood Memorial Gardens with Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Isadora Fletcher; her husband, Sidney Hatcher, her eldest son, Augustus "Little Man" and a host of other relatives and friends. She will forever be remembered and cherished by her devoted brothers, Gus, Richard and Sylvester Singleton; loving sister, Mary Fletcher; her beloved children and their spouses, Rebecca Vaughan, Malinda (Wallace) Tillman, Leonard "Chico" (Beverly) Fletcher, Sterling "Billy" Fletcher, Carolyn (Andre) Fletcher, Isaac "Wali" (Shannon) Fletcher, Cynthia (Michael) Howze; twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 12:00 Noon from Ross-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, 1412 Adams Ave., Montgomery, AL with Rev. Burdis Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL with Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. Mr. Jackson will lie in repose in the chapel one hour prior to the funeral service. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Brittany Noel Jackson "Bay"; son, Keshawn Jackson; mother, Felecia L. Jackson; father, Darrin Robinson; brother, Demario Antonio Jackson; grandparents, Howard (Lovie) Moore, Burwell (Francis) Miller; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Washington; father-in-law, Johnny Wilkins; uncles, Howard (Peaches) Miller, Anthony (Amy) Miller, Centerdor M. PALUCH, Janet, 74, passed away November 10, 2011. Her Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, November 15th at 11:00am at Southern Memorial. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tamra Gager Dowdy and step-daughter, Karen Paluch. Survivors include her husband, Walt Paluch; children, Barry Thane Gager & Gretchen Gager Haynes (Tim); step- children, Mark Paluch, Marvin Paluch, Michael Paluch & Dan Paluch and grandchildren, Benjamin Gager, Mason, Andrew & Max Haynes, William Chase Dowdy, Aubrey Kennell, Jason Paluch, Jessica & John Paluch and Kayla Paluch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Autism Speaks, autismspeaks.org.
