OWENS, Raymond Walter, a resident of Autauga County, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the age of 65 years old. He is survived by his wife, Frances Victoria Baxley; a daughter, Kristy Caradori; a sister, Patricia Louise Eller; three brothers, Steven Drew Owens, Craig Allen Owens, and Willis Godfrey Owens, Jr., all from North Carolina. Mr. Owens is also survived by 3 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, 1 niece, 4 nephews, 6 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew. Mr. Owens was a retired State of Alabama employee. He worked most of his career for the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. His Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 2 PM, from Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Bailey officiating. STEPHENS, Gussie M., age 83, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sam W. Stephens, Jr. She is survived by two children, Theresa ( Joe ) Cardwell, Steve (Jamie) Stephens; three grandchildren, Cassandra (Eric) Allen, Seth ( Nikki) Stephens, Cameron Stephens; three great- grandchildren, Carley Russo, Carianne Allen, Jaxon Allen;a sister-in-law, Helen Trawick; brother-in-law,Wiley Stephens ;several nephews and nieces. Mrs. Stephens worked for A & P Groceries on Cloverdale Road as a book keeper for 40 years. Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Earl Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. ALLEN, Harry Elliott, Jr.

ALLEN, Harry Elliott, Jr., age 84, of Montgomery, AL., died at home Thursday Nov. 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Elliott Allen, Sr., Roberta Davis Jones Allen and his sister Grace Allen Britt. He is survived by Martha Richardson Allen, his wife of 56 years, children Elliott Allen (Conny), Ashley Allen, Caroline Allen Breshears (Mike), six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one nephew Ben Kilgrow (Alice), and a cousin Rusty Gregory (Raye). Harry served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marines at the end of WWII and during the Korean War. He attended the University of Alabama and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was employed by G. D. Searle Pharmaceutical Co. for 35 years. He was also a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served on the vestry for several terms. The Rev. Robert Wisnewski will officiate at the funeral service at St. John's Episcopal Church, 113 Madison Ave, Montgomery, AL 36104 at 11:00 am on Monday Nov. 7, 2011. Visitation will be 10:00 am in the parish house, followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Hails, Jimmy Shashy, Brandon Thornton, Don White, John White, Tommie Majure, Scott Gilder and Gardner Perdue. FRANCINE MARY BENDER
Dec. 13, 1942 - Nov. 4, 2011

Francine Bender, 68, a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL passed from this earth Friday evening, Nov. 4, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Francine was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Dec. 13, 1942, the daughter of Francis & Irene (Horvath) Strelecki. Francine graduated from Robert Morris Univ., where she met her husband, Jerry Bender. They were married on Nov. 30, 1963, and made their homes in Minneapolis, MN and Montgomery, AL, where they raised their five children. They have been members of St. Bede Catholic Church since 1975. In addition to her parents, Francine was preceded in death by her son, Blake John Bender (1970-1991). She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, of forty- eight years; her children, Dana (Bender) & Joel Reeves, Cullen Bender & Tina Youngblood, Justin & Ginger Bender, and Brandon & Tracey Bender; grandchildren, Taylor, David, James, Janna and Jonathan; and brother David Strelecki. Visitation will be held at Southern Memorial on Monday, Nov. 7th from 5- 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bede Catholic Church on Tuesday, Nov. 8th at 10:00am, with burial to follow at St. Margaret's.

ROBINSON, Billy Owen, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at the age of 67. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Funeral services are Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Minister David Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Liwanag "Sunshine" Robinson; son, Mike Robinson; daughter, Lisa (Jim) West; granddaughter, Karris Dailey; brother, Donnie Robinson; sisters, Mary Ellen Dennis, Edna (Robert) Parnell, and Sue (Billy) Ragsdale; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Annette Robinson; parents, Jeffie and Addie Robinson; brothers, Lester Robinson, Lowell Robinson, and Eddie Robinson. EVELYN WALKER JORDAN
February 7, 1913 - November 3, 2011

Mrs. Evelyn Walker Jordan, of Auburn, Alabama passed from this earth on Thursday, November 3, 2011, after a brief stay at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn. A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, in Auburn. Mrs. Jordan was a longtime member of Holy Trinity, who had served on the vestry, and was a former lay reader. The Reverend John Fritschner of Holy Trinity will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Jordan, the daughter of the late Marvin Ethan Walker and Rosalie Parker Walker, was born February 7, 1913, in Augusta (Richmond County), Georgia. She was educated in elementary and secondary schools in Macon, GA, and Columbia, SC, respectively. Mrs. Jordan earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of South Carolina; she did graduate work at Tulane University in Botany, and later earned a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology from Auburn University. Mrs. Jordan was affiliated with several Psychology and Education honorary organizations, as well as numerous civic and service clubs. After she was awarded her Masters degree, she continued academic pursuits through post graduate work. She was retired from the Auburn University Student Counseling Service, where for many years she worked to serve the needs of Auburn students, particularly married and foreign students. Mrs. Jordan was a Master Gardener and an active member of the Light Horse Harry Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also was a Founding Member of Phi Theta Chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority (Auburn University). In 1992, Mrs. Jordan was recognized by Auburn University through its presentation of the Pamela Wells Sheffield award. This award is presented annually "to a woman who best embodies selfless service and commitment to Auburn University, and the Auburn Family". Survivors include her daughters Susan Jordan Pilgreen (Auburn), Darby Walker Jordan (Jasper, GA), a son, James Ralph Jordan, Jr. (Eve) (Norris, TN), and a nephew James R. Milton, Jr. (Keysville, GA); grandchildren Lisa Pilgreen Hunt (Tom) (Auburn), Tom Pilgreen, Jr. (Tammy) (Memphis, TN), James Ralph Jordan, III (Knoxville, TN) and Amy Katherine Jordan (Birmingham); great granddaughter Jordan Elizabeth Hunt (Auburn), great grandsons James Thomas Hunt (Emma) (Auburn), and Steven, Alex, and Michael Pilgreen (Memphis, TN). Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband of forty five years James Ralph Jordan, Sr. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Auburn University Foundation, designated for support of the James Ralph and Evelyn W. GILLILAND, Brenda P., 59, of Montgomery passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011. A native of Montgomery, Brenda worked for over 25 years as an insurance clerk Dr. John E. Hackman. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church until it closed in 2005 and currently was a member at Heritage Baptist Church in Montgomery. Preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Annette Poitevint and mother in law: Bessie Gilliland. PRICE, Leona, age 86, a resident of Montgomery AL., expired Thursday, November 3, 2011 at home. Preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Price and two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughter Lorrie Piazza and husband Mark Piazza, son Wayne Price and wife Lynda Price and grandchildren Kelly Dixon and husband Josh Dixon, Brian Piazza and fiancé Celena Thomas, Jay Price and Chris Price. Her sister Ruth Blom and husband Leroy Van Maanen, brother Don Blom and wife Donna Blom, brother Leory Blom, brother-in-law John Price and wife Mary Price, brother-in-law Bill Price and wife Ann Price also survive Mrs. Price. Services will be held at 2:00 Monday, November 7th with visitation at 1:00 at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home in Montgomery.

RODRIGUEZ, Josephine Ward, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend spread her wings and went to be with her Master and Savior on Monday, October 31, 2011 after a long illness. Visitation will be held at Ridout's Prattville Chapel on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. A Rosary will begin at 12:00 pm following the visitation. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Cemetery at Coosa River. Pallbearers will be Carl Howell, Carl Oates, Greg Ward, Christian Rocha, Gene Manning, Matt Clarizio, Paul Jones, and Joe Rodriguez. Josephine was born on October 14, 1938 in Montgomery, AL to L.T. and Gertrude E. (Manning) Ward and attended Marbury High School. She attended nursing school at St. Margaret's Hospital. She married John Rodriguez, Jr. on March 26, 1977 in Colorado Springs, CO. She loved to hunt and fish. Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry T. Ward. Survivors include her husband, John M. Rodriguez, Jr.; daughter, Debra J. Clarizio and her husband Matt; son, Joe Rodriguez and his wife Valerie; son, Paul R. Jones; son, Steven Rodriguez; sisters, Elizabeth Howell and Evelyn Oates; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Josephine was a past High Priestess of Alaska Shrine, member of Daughter of the Nile of Texas, an Eastern Star and Worthy Matron of LOSNA #4 of Valdez, AK. Her love of life and family was only surpassed by her love of God. She was one of the kindest, most loving, and gentle people on this earth. Always there to listen and understand with love and offer a helping hand. To know Josephine was to love her as she was full of life and laughter. Her sweet smile, loving hugs, and tender gestures will surely be missed. She shall surely be a beautiful gem in God's Treasure Chest shining brightly down upon us. Until we meet again.

BOWLES, Anne Marie Maloy went to be with the Lord Friday, October 28, 2011. She was born August 10, 1933 in Montgomery, AL. She was a lifelong resident of Montgomery and had been an active member of Pintlala Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Bowles; her parents, Joe Bruce and Verla Lucretia Maloy; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe B. Maloy Jr. and Ida Maloy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Gordon Jones, and one grandson, Zac Jones. Per Anne's request, her body was donated to the UAB Anatomical Donor Program for medical research. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Pintlala Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Burton officiating. Those wishing to honor Anne's memory may make a contribution to the Salvation Army or the Friendship Mission, 3561 Mobile Highway, Montgomery, AL 36108-4434.
