JOHNNY L. LOWE

Community leader

Johnny L. Lowe, 69, of Columbiana died June 6, 2002. He was born April 3, 1933 in Birmingham. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbiana, an active Mason of Shelby County Lodge No. 140, and a retired Chief Warrant Officer Four with the Alabama Army National Guard. He received the U.S. Army Legion of Merit Medal and he owned Lowe Realty in Columbiana.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Scarlott; daughter, Tracy; and grandchildren, Ryan, Karlie, Caleb and Caroline, all of Columbiana.

Funeral was June 8 at the First Baptist Church of Columbiana with the Rev. Mike Miller presiding. Burial followed in Pine Lawn Gardens, Bolton Brown Service directing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Lowe Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Columbiana branches of First National Bank of Shelby County or Regions Bank.

RAY LUNSFORD JR.

Montevallo resident

Ray Lunsford Jr., 59, of Montevallo died June 5, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Lunsford; daughters, Donna Wyatt of Crystal River, Fla., and Heather Eubanks of Montevallo; sons, Edwin E. Lunsford of Montevallo and Kenneth Lunsford of Taylorville, Ill.; mother, Margaret Lunsford of Birmingham; father, Kenneth Lunford of Birmingham; sister, Frances Hester of Mobile; and six grandchildren.

Funeral was June 7 at Rockco's Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Huey White presiding, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cahaba Heights First Baptist Church or Dogwood Grove Baptist Church.

FRANK WILLIAM MASSEY

Montevallo resident

Frank William Massey, 45, of Montevallo died June 8, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Massey; daughters, Melanie Massey and Christie Massey, both of Montevallo; mother and father-in-law, Barbara E. and Frank Bissett of Montevallo; sisters, Carolyn O'Brien of Ithaca, N.Y., and Sandy Tague of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Floyd Champion of Montevallo, Rufus Champion of Montevallo and Daniel Massey of Sylacauga; and grandson, Zack Johnson.

Funeral was June 11 at Rockco's Funeral Home chapel with Paul Lutz presiding. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery in Montevallo, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

BOBBY FRANK "BOB" MILLER

Owner of Miller Kennels

Bobby Frank "Bob" Miller, 75, of Columbiana died June 6, 2002. He was born July 5, 1926 in Birmingham. He was a Methodist and was retired from the Birmingham Fire Department. He was the owner of Miller Kennels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewell Leon Miller and Myrtis Beard Miller, and his sister, Doris J. Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Margie G. Miller; a son, Rick F. Miller of Pelham; a granddaughter, Kale Miller Cameron of Houston, Texas; a step-granddaughter, Erica Miller of Pelham; an uncle, William F. Miller of Montgomery; nephews, Mac, Terry and Billy Mitchell, all of Birmingham; and a niece, Sandra Mitchell Downey of Hartselle.

Graveside service was June 8 at Wilsonville Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Shaw presiding, Bolton Brown Service directing.

ALDIS EVADNA ALBRIGHT MINK

Member of church of Christ

Aldis Evadna Albright Mink, 88, died June 4, 2002 at her daughter's home in Homewood. She was a member of the church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ottis Mink, and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Mink Adams; son, Lawrence A. Mink; stepson, James O. Mink; and granddaughter, Natasha F. Mink.

Graveside service was June 5 at Harless Cemetery in Alabaster, Charter Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Pelham Church of Christ, Shades Mountain Church of Christ or Harless Cemetery Association.

JAYNE RENE' OLDHAM

Birmingham resident

Jayne Rene' Oldham, 45, of Birmingham died June 7, 2002. She was born in Alabama on April 9, 1957, the daughter to William Leslie Linn and Marjorie Louise Lees Linn.

She is survived by her spouse, Jay L. Leffelman; son, Paul Matthew Oldham; daughter, Melanie Peoples; brother, John Linn; and one grandchild, Tori People.

HELEN FRANCES PERRY

Member of Kingwood Assembly of God

Helen Frances Perry, 75, of Alabaster died June 3, 2002. She was born in Alabama on March 14, 1927, the daughter to Marlin Harrison Moore and Cora Esther Aldridge Moore. She was a member of Kingwood Assembly of God and AARP.

She is survived by her sons, Allen Perry (Karen) of Brierfield and Gary Perry (Charlene) of Alabaster; daughters, Faye Daniel (Charles) of Mt. Olive and Kathy Wallace (Alvin) of Clanton; brother, Harold Moore (Ozella) of Alabaster; sister, Betty Moon (Duncan) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Rick Daniel, Eddie Daniel, Heath Daniel, Melanie McCombs, Jason Perry, Kelly Perry, Deana Perry, Angela Laye, Janie Scoggins, April Doss, Steven Wallace, David Wallace, Tony Wallace and Angela Baker; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was June 7 at Kingwood Assembly of God with Brother Mark Simms presiding. Burial was at Mt. Era Cemetery, Charter Funeral Home directing.

RAY TATE

Deacon at Oak Mountain Baptist Church

Ray Tate, 63, of Pelham died June 2, 2002. He was a member of Oak Mountain Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was also the music director. He retired after 13 years of service to Birmingham. He served in the Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Tate; sons, Raymond Tate (Wendy) of Pelham, Ronnie Tate (Sheree) of Thorsby, and Russell Tate (Julie) of Helena; grandchildren, Kaylee Tate, Karlee Tate, and Hudson Tate; parents, Lester Tate and Ozell Tate of Calera; brothers, Same Tate of Atlanta, Ga., Steve Tate of Calera, Phillip Tate of Jemison; sister, Wessie Dooley of Calera; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral will be held at Southern Heritage Chapel. Burial in Pelham City, Ridouts Southern Heritage directing.

BERNICE WEBB

Born in Shelby County

Bernice Webb, 86, of Sylacauga died June 3, 2002. She was born Oct. 2, 1915 in Shelby County to Charlie and Sadie Farr Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Webb. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Bernard Alton Webb of Sandersville, Ga.; daughter, Linda McCreary of Decatur; two brothers, Charles Foster and Mack Foster, both of Columbiana; four sisters, Ruth Elledge and Marie Green of Columbiana, Mary Rowe of Wilsonville, and Dot Cagle of Bayou La Batre; six grandchildren, Connie Hines of Tullahoma, Tenn., John Erwin of Decatur, Matt Erwin of Mt. Home AFB, Idaho, Kari Webb and Steven Webb, both of Sandersville, Ga., and Reid McCreary of Decatur; and one great-granddaughter, Christina Hines of Tullahoma, Tenn.

Funeral was June 6 at Curtis and Son North Chapel, the Rev. Bill Dean presiding. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home directing.

WILLIAM WESLEY CRIM

Former owner of Crim Radio and TV Service

William Wesley Crim, 79, of Calera, died June 10, 2002. He was born June 4, 1923, in Longview. He was the owner of Crim Radio and TV Service in Alabaster. He had retired and closed the business about 46 years. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Crim; daughter, Peggy Crim of Calera; sister, Helen C. Frost of Calera; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was June 12 at Bolton Brown Service chapel with the Rev. Sam Holliday presiding. Burial followed in Harless Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.
