Bobbie Ann Harding, 65, of Columbiana died Feb. 16, 2003. She was born in 1937 in Fayette County.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Harding, Kelvin Harding, Dewayne Harding and Peggy Roberson; one sister, Annie Ruth Musgrove; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Graveside service will be Feb. 19 at Pierce Memorial Cemetery, the Rev. James Tuggle presiding and Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

CORA LEE HOLCOMBE

Grandmother of 10

Cora Lee Holcombe, 84, of Maylene died Feb. 16, 2003, in Maylene. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Wendy Holcombe.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Holcombe Jr. of Maylene; one daughter, Linda (Lawrence) Barnett of Alabaster; one son, Billy Jack Holcombe of Alabaster; four grandchildren, Valerie (Mick) Springer, Cindy (Ray) Gantt, Mark (Sharee) Barnett and Billy (Terri) Holcombe, all of Alabaster; and six great-grandchildren, Ashlee Springer, Haley Barnett, Jady Barnett, Tabitha Holcombe, Corey Barnett and Dillon Holcombe.

Service will be Feb. 19 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, Joe Raines and Rex Moore presiding. Burial followed in Moore's Cemetery in Montevallo, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

JADIE WESLEY HOLSOMBACK

Pea Ridge resident

Jadie Wesley Holsomback, 91, of Pea Ridge died Feb. 15, 2003, in Pea Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Holsomback, and his son, Willie Ray Holsomback.

He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy (Richard) Munkus of Birmingham; his son, Jadie Wesley Holsomback Jr. of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Gracie Booth of Calera and Lorene Smith of Leeds; three brothers, Cecil Holsomback of Alabaster, Eugene Holsomback of Hoover and Edgar Holsomback of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jadie Michael (Tura) Holsomback of Pea Ridge, Cathy Jean Carhartt, Nannette Stevenson, Alice (Larry) Wages, Wendy (Anthony) Smitherman, Lori Webster and Susan Parisi; five great-grandchildren, Autumn, Nicole, Jamy, Richard and Judith; one great-great-grandchild, Matthew Lanzi; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service was Feb. 18 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Pea Ridge, Boyce Trott presiding. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

HAYDEN J. LOWE

U.S. Navy veteran

Hayden J. Lowe, 79, of Columbiana died Feb. 15, 2003. He was born in 1923 in Dora and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He is survived by Dorothy Lowe Scott of Clanton, Ruby Nell Lukan of Homestead, Ill., Lona Vanek of Jupiter, Fla., Carl R. Lowe of Prattville and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Feb. 18 at Hubbard Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

FRANCES MARIE MANESS

Hairdresser

Frances Marie Maness, 59, of Maylene died Feb. 10, 2003. She was self-employed as a hairdresser.

She is survived by two sons, Joe H. Maness Jr. and Brian K. Maness, both of Montevallo; three sisters, Jackie Taylor of Alabama, Diane Mahan of Helena and Kathy Morris of Mobile; one brother, Travis Stone of Columbiana; and five grandchildren.

Service was Feb. 12 at Maylene Chapel, Kathleen Johnson presiding. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

SARAH LOUISE FINLEY MOORE

Birmingham resident

Sarah Louise Finley Moore, 70, of Birmingham died Feb. 11, 2003. She was employed by Dobbs House for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Finley and Linna Finley, and a daughter, Shirley Elaine Finley.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Lewis of Birmingham, two grandchildren, Jessice and James Lewis of Birmingham; three sisters, Nell Williams of Pelham, Susie Finley of Birmingham and Martha Sargent of Louisiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Feb. 13 at Elliotsville, Southern Heritage directing.

EDITH STRAIN PALMER

Grandmother of seven

Edith Strain Palmer, 79, of Birmingham died Feb. 13, 2003, in Hattiesburg, Miss.

She is survived by her son, Richard A. Palmer Jr. of Pelham; one daughter, Kay (Michael) Bucciantini of Hattiesburg, Miss.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Strain of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

EFFIE GARDNER SIMS

Shelby County schoolteacher

Effie Gardner Sims, 94, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Feb. 9, 2003. She was born in Fourmile in 1908, the daughter of James Walter and Selina Alice Carden Gardner. She taught in Shelby County Schools for 16 years and in the Polk County Schools in Florida for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark W. Sims; her son, John W. Sims; her daughter, Grace Smock; and her granddaughter, Selina T. Watson.

She is survived by two sons, Mark William (Mary) Sims of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Joe D. (Elizabeth) Sims of Temple, Ga.; one daughter, Llewellyn Thomas of Columbiana; 13 grandchildren, Naomi S. Ulrich, Mark W. Sims III, John D. Sims, Matthew Sims, W. Bartitt Sims, Joe D. Sims Jr., Lelia S. Elliott, Leslie S. Wright, Frank W. Thomas, James H. Sims, James H. Crawford III and Michael C. Crawford; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Kheng H. Sims of Tampa, Fla.; many other family members and friends.

Service was Feb. 12 at the Fourmile Baptist Church, the Revs. Robert LaFavre and Mike Miller presiding. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery, Charter Funeral Home directing.

DORIS BRANNON SPIRES

Grandmother of six

Doris Brannon Spires, 80, died Feb. 15, 2003. She was born in Winnsboro, S.C., in 1922. She was a member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmot J. "Hank" Spires.

She is survived by one daughter, Deann Spires Webb of Columbiana; Wilmot (Cathy) Spires Jr. of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Thomas S. (Lynn) Spires of Vestavia; one sister, Bernice McDonald of Winnsboro, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Service was Feb. 17 at Columbiana United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bob Alford presiding. Burial followed at Columbiana City Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

AZLEE WHITE STANFILL

Grandmother of 62

Azlee White Stanfill, 82, of Savannah, Tenn., died Feb. 14, 2003. She was a homemaker and a member of River Heights Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Standfill.

She is survived by six daughters, Eula Melson, Peggy Wilbanks, Charlotte Sevier and Wanda Evans, all of Savannah, Tenn., Sue Middleton of Plant City, Fla., and Renee Eddings of Batesville, Ark.; three sons, Anthony Middleton of Batesville, Ark., Roger Middleton of Columbiana and Edward Middleton of Waynesboro, Tenn.; one sister, Manetta Ellison of Waynesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Dan and Joel White, both of Waynesboro, Tenn.; 29 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Service was Feb. 17 at Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Savannah, Tenn., with burial following in Memory Gardens of Hardin County, Shackleford Funeral Directors directing.
