Theodore Cheatham Sr., 75, of Birmingham died July 25, 2003. He was a lifelong resident of Birmingham, retired from Ingle Iron & Steel Corporation after 40 years of service and a member of South Elyton Baptist Church in Titusville.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Rubye) Cheatham, Theodore "June Bug" (Connie) Cheatham, Theophlius Kevin Cheatham, Thedoris C. Brown, Cynthia C. Thomas and Pamela (Abe) Cook; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Service was Aug. 2 at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel, the Rev. Reginald Brown presiding. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home in Calera directing.

JOHN ALFRED CUNNINGHAM

Montevallo resident

John Alfred Cunningham, 75, of Montevallo died Aug. 6, 2003, in Alabaster. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montevallo.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Butler Cunningham of Montevallo; two daughters, Debbie Bowen of Hartselle and Judy Keane of Bethesda, Md.; four sisters, Elizabeth Hamm of Alabaster, Irma Morgan of Italy, Texas, Doris Edwards of Dallas, Texas, and Lenora Osborn of Granbury, Texas; one brother, James Kenneth Cunningham Jr. of Montevallo; and five grandchildren.

Service was Aug. 10 at the church, Mike Ratliff and Buddy Freeman presiding. Burial was in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Montevallo, AL 35115, or the Leukemia Foundation.

ACE DYLAN DRINKARD

Infant

Infant Ace Dylan Drinkard of Jemison died Aug. 3, 2003.

He is survived by his father, Danny Drinkard; his mother, Sandi Looney Drinkard of Jemison; grandparents, Wayne and Janice Drinkard of Jemison and Kenny and Jan Looney of Adamsville; aunts and uncles, Shane and Keisha Drinkard of Jemison, Tracey Drinkard of Jemison, Darrell and Shelly Brown of Mulga and Keith and Shea Looney of Collinsville; and 11 cousins.

Graveside service was Aug. 7 at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Brother Wayne Hughes presiding and Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

PHILLIP WILLIAM HAYLEY

Hoover resident

Phillip William Hayley, 47, of Hoover died Aug. 9, 2003. He was a member of Cahaba Valley Church of Christ and a graduate of the University of Montevallo, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was past president of the Associates Council of the Birmingham Home Builders Association.

He is surved by his wife of 23 years, Patti Hayley of Hoover; one son, Daniel Bartlett Hayley of Hoover; one daughter, Lily LeeMarie Hayley of Hoover; and one brother, Ben F. (Terry) Hayley of Birmingham.

Service will be today, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at Southern Heritage Chapel with burial following in the adjoining cemetery.

DENNIS LOYDE HOWELL

Pell City resident

Dennis Loyde Howell, 64, of Pell City died Aug. 5, 2003, in Pell City. he was a building manager at Regions Bank for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Marie Smith Howell of Pell City; three daughters, Pamela (Brian) Edwards of Magnolia, Ark., Tessa L. (Marcus) Adams of Pell City, Katherine M. Howell of Pell City and Tamara H. (Lawrence T.) Yednak of Pell City; one sister, Claudia Neal of Springhill, La.; two brothers, Archie Howell of Springhill, La., and Donald Howell of Atlanta, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service was Aug. 8 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, the Rev. David Jones presiding. Burial followed in Providence Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

THOMAS BRADLEY HYDE

Pinson resident

Thomas Bradley Hyde, 27, of Pinson died July 28, 2003, at his residence. He was born in December 1975 in Alabaster.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Geraldine Hyde of Sterrett; his brothers and sister, Joe Partridge of Pinson, Wayne Partridge of Maryland and Sylvia Crowe of Sterrett; his grandmother, Opal L. Hyde of Gardendale; and nieces and nephews, Paul, Erica, Chris, Justin, Danny and Samantha.

Service was July 30 at Brashers Chapel, the Rev. Gainey presiding. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

MILTON "BUTCH" INGRAM

Wilsonville resident

Milton "Butch" Ingram, 55, of Wilsonville died Aug. 2, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born July 3, 1948, in Tuscaloosa.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ingram of Wilsonville; two daughters, Tonya Ingram of Hueytown and Ashley Doron of Wilsonville; brothers and sisters, Mervle Ingram of Salinas, Calif., Tilman Ingram of Tuscaloosa, Dianne Turner and Mable Antley of Tuscaloosa, Bettye Mitchell of Northport and Judy Stacks of Parrish; and two grandchildren, Samantha Haynes and Hunter Haynes of Hueytown.

Service was Aug. 6 at Wilsonville Baptist Church, Brothers Jim Jacks and R.L. Rasmussen presiding. Burial followed in Wilsonville Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

SUNNY LYNNE PARK LAYFIELD

Alabaster resident

Sunny Lynne Park Layfield, 40, of Alabaster died Aug. 4, 2003.

She is survived by her fiancé, David Gore of Alabaster; her daughter, Emily Lauren Layfield of Alabaster; her parents, James and Glenda Park of Alabaster; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service was at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Ridout's Southern Heritage directing.

BETTIE JAMES SOWELL

First Christian Church member

Bettie James Sowell, 96, died Aug. 2, 2003. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Birmingham. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., and taught French at Knoxville High School. She later became a homemaker and was office manager at Clinton Milling Company in Clinton, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lewis Cowden Sowell; two sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by two sons, James Lewis (Sandra) Sowell of Fountain Valley, Calif., and John Gregory (Mary) Sowell of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Lisa Sowell Dempster of Alamo, Calif., James Lewis Sowell Jr. of Orange County, Calif., and Rebecca Sowell Hawkins of Birmingham; and one great-grandchild, Allen James Dempster of Alamo, Calif.

Service was Aug. 6 at Galleria Woods Chapel in Birmingham, Charter Funeral Home directing.

POWELL (POW) LAWRANCE BRANTLEY

Father of six

Powell (Pow) Lawrance Brantley, 92, of Selma died Aug. 10, 2002, in Alabaster.

He is survived by four daughters, Lanell Corr of Florida, Sandra Savage of Selma, Judy Lucas of Montevallo and Melba Finley of Montevallo; two sons, Charles Brantley of Calera and Earl Brantley of Pea Ridge; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service was Aug. 13 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bob Williams presiding. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel directing.
