GEORGIA RUTH GAY

Calera resident

Georgia Ruth Gay, 79, of Calera died Aug. 8, 2002. She was born June 26, 1923 in Chilton County. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Jimmie Ruth Watts, Mary Turnbloom, Larry Gay, Tommy Gay and Brenda Matthews, all of Calera; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Earlene Bailey of Calera.

Funeral was Aug. 10 at Calera Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Warren and Shelton Reeves presiding. Burial followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

CARL W. INGRAM

World War II veteran

Carl W. Ingram, 74, of Vestavia Hills died Aug. 4, 2002. He was born in Tennessee in 1928. He was a veteran of World War II, graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1951, was a division manager with South Central Bell and was a consultant of Sperry Corporation.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Ingram; three sons, Carl Wilson Ingram Jr. of Ft. Hood, Texas, Gary Lynn Ingram of Birmingham and Mark Rhea Ingram of Bartow, Fla.; his mother, Pauline Ingram of Orange Park, Fla.; his brother, William A. Ingram of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside service was Aug. 8 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover, the Rev. Roger Salter presiding and Charter Funeral Home directing.

LALLAGE "LITTLEMAMA" JOHNSON

Great-great-grandmother of five

Lallage "Littlemama" Johnson, 96, of Dogwood died Aug. 11, 2002, in Alabaster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Johnson.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty (William) Cooley of DeRidder, La.; three sons, Harold (Shirley) Johnson of Huntsville, Dan (Nancy) Johnson of Dogwood and Willie Johnson of Dogwood; one sister, Bonnie Nannini of Dogwood; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be today, Aug. 14 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, the Rev. Todd Burr presiding. Burial will follow in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dogwood Grove Baptist Church building fund, 291 Fran Drive, Montevallo, AL 35115.

GLADYS NELSON

Grandmother of three

Gladys Nelson, 83, of Montevallo died Aug. 5, 2002. She was born in Indiana on Oct. 4, 1918, the daughter of William Bevis and Minnie Douglas Bevis. She was a homemaker, loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Everett E. Nelson; two daughters, Verna Wetterhan of Marietta, Ga., and Bonnie Lipscomb of Montevallo; three grandsons, John Nathan Wetterhan, Andrew Taylor Wetterhan and Charles Richard Lipscomb.

Graveside service was Aug. 8 in Shelby Memory Gardens, the Rev. Tim Guerino presiding and Charter Funeral Home directing.

GLORIA PEARSON

Calera resident

Gloria Pearson, 48, of Calera died Aug. 3, 2002.

She is survived by three sisters, Peggy Pearson, Betty Maddox and Beverly King, all of Calera; one brother, Curtis Pearson of Calera; a foster son, Robert Gray of Calera; and several other relatives.

Service will be Thursday, Aug. 8 at 12 p.m. at Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church in Alabaster. Burial will follow at First Baptist Cemetery in Calera, The Good Shepherd Funeral Home of Montevallo directing.

STACIE MAE RUTHERFORD

Pelham resident

Stacie Mae Rutherford, 76, of Pelham died Aug. 5, 2002. She was a member of the Kingwood Assembly of God in Alabaster.

She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Terry of Helena and Pam Griffith (Ray) of Pelham; son, Charles T. Rutherford (Victoria) of Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Audrey Motes of Pelham, Flossie Motes of Pelham and Chestine Mathis of Chelsea; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Aug. 8 at the Kingwood Assembly of God with the Rev. Mark Sims presiding. Burial was at Pelham City Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

MARY KATHRYN WARREN

Member of First United Methodist Church

Mary Kathryn Warren, 81, of Calera died Aug. 8, 2002.

She was the daughter to Jessie Frost Sorrell and Josh Marion Sorrell. She retired after many years of service with Parisian's. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Calera and was in the "Jolly Timers."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Clifton Warren and her brother, Josh Sorrell Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Alyce White of Calera; son, Carlos Gregory Warren (Jenny) of Calera; brother-in-law, R.E. Warren (Pauline) of Maylene; and grandchildren, Ellen Gallman (David), Daniel Warren, Josh (Laura) Kowaleski, Justin Kowaleski, Kimberly White and Kacie White.

Funeral was Aug. 12 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Hill presiding. Burial was at Harless Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calera First United Methodist Church Land Fund.

RICHARD "RICKY" WEBB

Calera resident

Richard "Ricky" Webb, 58, of Calera died July 29, 2002.

He is survived by his father, Arless D. Webb of Jamestown, Tenn.; aunts, Magdalene Idol, Jean Pierce and Freda Waters; and uncles, Renfro Webb and Charles Crabtree.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

JULIUS BURNS JR.

Montevallo resident

Julius Burns Jr., 80, of Montevallo died Oct. 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carlyle Burns of Daisy, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Grant, Marie Kelsey and Augusta Melton; and other relatives.

Service was Oct. 24 at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Montevallo City Cemetery, Good Shepherd directing.

JOHN ALLEN CHESSER SR.

Lifelong resident of Chelsea

John Allen Chesser Sr., 86, of Chelsea died Oct. 24, 2002. He was born in January 1916. He was the third son of Frank Pierce and Dovie Crane Chesser and a lifelong resident of Chelsea. He retired from Hayes International (Pemco) as a master aircraft mechanic.

He was preceded in death by a son, Allen A. Chesser, and a brother, Lloyd W. Chesser.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Simmons Chesser; two sons, John A. Chesser Jr. and William M. (Cathy) Chesser, both of Chelsea; one daughter, Darlene Chesser (Larry) Kelley of Chelsea; one daughter-in-law, Janice Chesser of Westover; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, L.P. Chesser of Huntsville and Frank P. Chesser Jr. of Chelsea; and one special family member, Dr. Kelley Snow.

Service was Oct. 26 at Liberty Baptist Church, Dr. Tim Cox and Dr. Benny Reynolds presiding. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
