Norma Nadene "Dean" Holderfield, 63, of Calera and formerly of Marvel, Ala., died Thursday, June 10, 2004.
She is survived by her sons, James E. Cook Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Daniel Fillmore Cook of Virginia; daughters, Connie (Anthony) Smith of McCalla and Kay (Drew) Nelson of Clay, Ala.; companion, Ronnie Hale of Montevallo; grandchildren, Paul Calvin and Lyndsey L. Calvin Sadler, both of McCalla, Micah L. Dailey of Montevallo, Ashley E. Dailey of Jemison, Austin W. Dailey of Montevallo and Tracy and Dee Cook of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Buddy Martin of West Blocton; and sisters, Ruth Sewell of Gardendale and Elizabeth Holsomback of Marvel.
Service was June 14 at Charter Funeral Home with burial in Elliotsville Cemetery, Charter directing.
FRANCES M. LITTLETON
Frances M. Littleton, 75, of Calera died Friday, June 18, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born in Alabama on Aug. 23, 1928, to William Homer Martin and Audie Broadhead Martin.
She is survived by her husband, J.O. Littleton; son, Jerry H. (Debbie) Littleton; daughter, Tina Snipes (James "Doug"); sister, Joann (John) Stephen, all of Calera; brother, Carlos Martin of Louisiana; grandchildren, Christy Stiff, Misty Ray, Brandon Littleton, Stephen Smith, Jamie Snipes and Jennifer Tolbert; great-grandchildren, Alisha, Austin and Christian Stiff, Lexi and Skyler Ray, Jacob Littleton, Samantha and Haven Snipes and Kelsey, Christopher and Allie Tolbert.
Service was June 21 at Charter Funeral Home with burial following in Shelby Memory Gardens, Charter directing.
RICHARD HOUSTON LOVELADY
Richard Houston Lovelady, 51, of Pelham died Saturday, May 29, 2004. He was born in Alabama Dec. 2, 1952, to Harold H. Lovelady and Janie Ruth Stanford Lovelady. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Ruth Stanford Lovelady, and his sister, Linda K. Lovelady Fulgham.
He is survived by his sons, Eric Lovelady of Louisiana and Lane Lovelady of Montevallo; his daughter, Jennifer Lovelady of Montevallo; his father, Harold H. Lovelady of Helena; and his brother, Jimmy (Janice) Lovelady of Alabaster.
Graveside service was June 5 at Helena City Cemetery, the Rev. Jeff Fortenberry presiding and Charter Funeral Home directing.
CHARLES FRANKLIN PAYNE
Grandfather of three
Charles Franklin Payne, 76, of Alabaster died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at his home. He was born on Jan. 18, 1928, in Alabaster.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annie Bell Payne; one daughter, Bonnie Sue (Jimmy L.) Coleman; one sister, Frances Payne Smoke of Auburn; one granddaughter, Terri (Michael) Minor; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Michael Minor and Seth Coleman Minor; and two nieces, Kay S. Webster and Nita S. Hornsby.
Service was June 21 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel, the Revs. Larry Adcock and Glenn Voud presiding. Burial followed in Nabors Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Sister of four
Frankie Regina Holsomback Vandevender, 47, of Verbena died Friday, June 11, 2004, in Deatsville.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Vandevender of Verbena; one sister, Judy Dale Cox; and three brothers, Robert Gary Smith, Kaylath Ray Harper and Jody Dean Harper.
Rockco's Funeral Home directed the service.

Shelby Ridge Nursing Home resident
Maxine Campbell White, 92, a resident of Shelby Ridge Nursing Home, died June 20, 2004. She was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Campbranch, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer L. Campbell and Thomas G. White; her parents, John and Hattie Hale; and numerous brothers and sisters. She has been a member of Concord Baptist Church since 1946 and taught the beginner Sunday school class from 1947 to 1984.
She is survived by her son, Leon (Lola) Campbell of Melbourne, Fla.; her daughter, Linda (Larry) Langston of Calera; her grandson, Kenneth (Debbie) Campbell of Melbourne, Fla.; granddaughters, Amy (Michael) Geric of Tampa, Fla., Lana (Mickey) Hardwick of Calera and Lorrie (Dan) Jones of Gulfport, Miss.; four great-grandsons, Trent and Alex Hardwick of Calera and Zach and Jordan Jones of Gulfport, Miss.; and sisters, Jewel Ayers and Jackie Templin.
Service will be today, June 23 at Concord Baptist Church in Calera. Burial will follow in Dargin Cemetery, Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.
HENRY ODELL BOTTOMS
Henry Odell Bottoms, 65, of Chelsea died July 24, 2004, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
A native of Oconee County, S.C., he was the son of the late Henry Washington and Eula Quarles Bottoms. He was a truck driver and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Saginaw.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Fowler Bottoms; his son, Anthony (Dyanna) Bottoms of Chelsea; two sisters, Mozelle Mcaulley of Innavarre, Fla., and Rosezell Holcombe of West Union, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
Service was July 28 at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel in South Carolina with burial following in Oconee Memorial Park.
ARTHUR JAMES "POP" CLINGAN
Arthur James "Pop" Clingan, 66, of Columbiana died Saturday, June 3, 2004, at a nursing home in Ashville. He was born June 3, 1937, in Alabama.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Tina) Clingan of Columbiana and Donald (Noreen) Clingan of Homestead, Fla.; and a host of grandchildren.
A memorial service was held for the family, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.
MYRTLE K. GARRETT
Oldest member of Calera First United Methodist Church
Myrtle K. Garrett, 102, of Calera died Thursday, July 23, 2004, at her daughter's home. She was born Aug. 21, 1901, in Chilton County and was the oldest member of Calera First United Methodist Church. She is a former member of the Calera Garden Club, a member and teacher in the Shelby County 4H Club and a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Faye G. (Harold) Harrison of Calera; a grandson, David P. (Su Ah) Faust of South Korea; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Service was July 25 at South Shelby Baptist Church, the Revs. Marvin Edmondson and Tom Hammett presiding. Burial followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.
Ruby L. Ray Gowers
Ruby L. Ray Gowers, 93, of Westover died Friday, July 23, 2004, at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Shelby County. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ella Ruth Gardner; a step-daughter, Anna Davenport; three grandchildren, Eugene Gardner, Sheila (Roy) Martin and Wanda (Paul) Barber; four great-grandchildren, Michelle Gardner, Nathan Fox, Erik Bailey and Melissa Martin; four step-great-grandchildren, Kelley Barber, Kristi (Clint) Johnston, Korey Barber and Kari Barber; one great-great-grandson, Bradley Gardner; and three step-great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Denty, Kali Brooks and Tyler Johnston.
Service was July 26 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. Tom Minor presiding. Burial followed in Ray Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.
