Ethel Lee, 80, of Monroeville died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Lee was a native of Wilcox County but had lived in Monroe County for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of New Chapel Baptist Church where she was the mother of the church.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin Lee of Mexia; one son, Aaron Williams of Sacramento; three daughters, Adelle (David) Black of Pensacola, Fla., Delois (Raymond) Blackshare and Shirley (Mike) Williford, both of Sacramento, Calif.; step-children, John Lee of Alexander, Va., Ronnie Lee of Monroeville, Brenda Lee of Virginia, Earline Freeman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Nora Lee of Louisville, Ky., Mildred of Calif., Ervin Lee Jr. and Eugene Lee, both of Pensacola, Fla. and Lucy Williams and Jeanette Williams, both of North Carolina; a brother, Aaron Dale of Ohio; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Jones Unity Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at New Chapel Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. J.O. Malone officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Tommie Kate McKnight
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Tommie Kate McKnight, 97, of Monroeville died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
McKnight was a native of Eton, Ga. and has resided in Monroeville most all of her life. She had worked in binding for the Monroe Journal and was a member of the Monroeville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jack McKnight of Monroeville and Jerry Wayne McKnight of Frisco City; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 14 at 2:15 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Micah Gandy officiating. Burial followed in Pineville Cemetery.

Louise Fields Merritt
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Louise Fields Merritt, 64, of Monroeville died Monday, July 5, 2010 at her home.
Merritt was a resident of Monroe County and was a member of the New Haven Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilton and Elvie Fields.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Merritt of Monroeville; a son, Bradley Shane Merritt of Tuscaloosa; a daughter, Vickie (Jeff) Morris of Mobile; and a sister, Shirley (Richard) Tindol of Evergreen; and one grandchild.
Services were held Thursday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Carl White officiating. Burial followed in New Haven Church of Christ Cemetery.

Thomas James “T.J./Big Perk” Perkins
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Thomas James “T.J./Big Perk” Perkins, 22, of Frisco City died Monday, July 5, 2010 in Fairhope.
Perkins was a graduate of Frisco City High School and was a senior at Miles University of Birmingham. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Frisco City.
Survivors include his mother, Lizzie Perkins of Frisco City; one daughter, Tamya J. Perkins of Frisco City; six brothers, Davion (Natalie) Perkins, Willie M. Perkins Jr. and Michael Slaughter, all of Frisco City; Harold Perkins of Mobile, Kenny Perkins of Atlanta, Ga. and Johnny (Aldonia) McClain of Clarke County; and seven sisters, Brenda (James) Sweat, Lillie V. Perkins, Sharon (Steve) Smith and Patricia Ann (Kenneth) Franklin, all of Atlanta, Veronica (Sam) Walker of South Carolina, Alicia (Rev. Roy) Davis of Mobile and Annie Cheese of Mt. Vernon.
Services were held Saturday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. Sandy McQueen and Rev. John A. Tucker, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in McConica Cemetery in Perdue Hill.

Willard Jackson Reeves
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Willard Jackson Reeves, 85, of Monroeville died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at his home.
Reeves was a resident of Monroeville most of his life. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Auburn University and retired from the Soil and Water Conservation office with the State of Alabama.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Nall Reeves of Monroeville; one son, Glenn Reeves of Monroeville; and one sister, Mary Alsobrook of Lanett.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 12 at 2 p.m. from the Pineville Cemetery with Rev. Steve Dunn officiating.

Andrew Preston Rose
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Andrew Preston Rose, 81, of Monroeville died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Cedars of Englewood.
Rose was a native of Louisville, Ky. and had resided in Monroeville for many years. He was an accountant of Crowne Healthcare and was a member of Excel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Albert Rose of Kentucky and Jim Rose of Florida; one sister, Georgeania Allen of Ohio; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the chapel Friday, July 16 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Terry Harden officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson, Miss.

Willie C. “Dick” Stallworth
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Willie C. “Dick” Stallworth, 74, of Beatrice died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Stallworth was a native of Beatrice and lived in Monroe County all of his life. He worked as a logger for many years and was a member of Slyvester Baptist Church of Beatrice.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Lee Stallworth of Beatrice; eight sons, Willie C. Stallworth Jr., Ernest Stallworth, Jamale Stallworth, Alphonsie Stallworth and Calvin Stallworth, all of Beatrice, Edward Stallworth and James Stallworth, both of Monroeville and Douglas Stallworth of Atward, Calif.; one daughter, Gloria Jones of Beatrice; three sisters, Voncile Flowers of Chicago, Ill., Ruth Ann Swain of Pensacola Fla. and Mary Stallworth of Cleveland, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at Sylvester Baptist Church in Beatrice with Rev. Osbry Millender and Pastor Willie Rudolph officiating.

Christopher Preston Wheat Watson
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Christopher Preston Wheat Watson, 50, of Gulfport, Miss. died Monday, July 12, 2010 in New Orleans, La.
Watson was born in Pensacola, Fla. He was an iron worker in industrial construction, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of New Orleans Local 58 Union.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Wheat of Gulfport; parents, Walter and Shirley J. Watson of Athens; a daughter, Jesyka Wheat of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three sisters, Kathy (Charles) Jernigan of Haden, Melissa (Charles) Gravat of Franklin, Tenn. and Jennifer (Ron) Nall of Andalusia.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at Springhill Cemetery in Franklin with Rev. Chris Jerrells officiating.

Rev. Thomas Agee Sr.
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Rev. Thomas Agee Sr., 69, of Perdue Hill died on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
Agee was a native of Perdue Hill and lived in Monroe County most of his life. He worked at Vanity Fair Mills and Standard Furniture Company for several years. He was the pastor at Morning Star Baptist Church in Whatley for 26 years. He also pastored other churches and was a past moderator of the Free Mission District Association.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Agee of Frisco City; two sons, Thomas Agee Jr. of Monroeville and Jerry Agee of Atlanta, Ga.; three stepsons, Marcus Lee, Caribe Hines and Alfred Lee, all of Monroeville; one brother, Herman Hollman of Long Island, N.Y.; one sister, Gwendolyn Hollman of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Whatley with Rev. Matthew Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mercer G. Hughes Sr.
Ridout’s Prattville Chapel, Prattville
Mercer G. Hughes Sr., 80, of Prattville died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010.
Hughes was a retired captain with the Montgomery Fire Department and owner of Hughes Flooring Contractors since 1958.
Survivors include two sons, Mercer G. (Kimberly Ann) Hughes Jr. of Prattville and Kenneth Byron Hughes of Red Level; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at Good Hope Cemetery in Monroeville with Rev. John Gaines officiating.

Artie B. Stabler
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Artie B. Stabler, 83, of Frisco City died Friday, Aug. 5, 2010 at Englewood Nursing Home in Monroeville.
Stabler was a homemaker and a member of the holiness church.
Survivors include two sons, Wyman D. Stabler and Dennis E. Stabler, both of Frisco City; one brother, John W. Brazzell of Silverhill; two sisters, Nellie Fay Murphy of Mobile and Cathlyn Johnson of Frisco City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.
