Earline Portwood Williamson
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore
Earline Portwood Williamson, 73, of Pine Grove died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at a Mobile hospital.
Williamson was a native of Gadsden and was a former resident of Little River. She attended the Holiness Church.
Survivors include a son, Hubert DeWayne Williamson of Pine Grove; a daughter, Patricia “Georgie” (Johnny) Bryant of Pine Grove; a sister, Abby Shaw of Roanoke Ripids, N.C.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ed McMillian officiating. Burial followed in Mineola Cemetery.

Vivian Stallworth Young
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore
Vivian Stallworth Young, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 while in a local hospital.
Young was a lifelong resident of Escambia County and was a member of Canoe United Methodist Church. She attended Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., Auburn University and Scarritt College for Christian Workers in Nashville, Tenn where she graduated in 1943. She was commissioned as a home missionary and went to work at the Methodist Community Center in Ozona, Texas where she worked in youth and senior activities. She was also an elementary school teacher at the Poarch Creek Indian, Rachel Patterson and A.C. Moore schools in Escambia County, retiring in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. J.P. and Ida Watson Stallworth; her husband, Clarence Walter Young Jr.; five brothers, James Jackson Stallworth, “Little” John Stallworth, Leo “Buster” Stallworth, John W. Stallworth and James P. Stallworth; and four sisters, Lorraine Walker, Christine Campbell, Idanette Cook and Rebecca Stallworth.
Survivors include her three sons, Clarence W. “Dub” Young III of Monroeville, Park S. (Gail) Young of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Thomas E. (Annette) Young of Canoe; three grandchildren; one step grandchild; and two step great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Butts and Rev. Steve Vanlandenham officiating. Burial followed in Canoe United Methodist Cemetery in Robinsonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canoe United Methodist Church of your favorite charity.

Margie Etheridge Calloway
Craver’s Funeral Home, Brewton
Margie Etheridge Calloway, 99 of Castleberry died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at her home.
Calloway was a native of Belleville and had lived most of her life in Castleberry. She was a retired lunchroom worker with the Conecuh County School System and was a member of the Castleberry Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Calloway.
Survivors include four sons, Charles (Nettie) Calloway of DeRidder, La., Curtis Calloway of Castleberry, Wayne (Lucille) Calloway of Monroeville, Paul (Angela) Calloway of Castleberry and Anderson, Ind.; one daughter, Mary Bethune of Castleberry; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home Inc., with Rev. Bob Godbee and Rev. Andy Peevy officiating. Burial followed in Holland Cemetery in Castleberry.

Richard Wayne Davis
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Richard Wayne Davis, 51, of Monroeville died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at Eight Mile Rehabilitation Nursing Facility in Mobile.
Davis was born in Whatley. He completed his education in Frisco City and attended Ed Reid College in Evergreen. He was a member of the Evangelistic Pentecostal Church and worked with Subway in Monroeville as a floor manager for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham L. Davis Sr. and Hattie Lue Taite-Davis.
Survivors include four sisters, Hattie L. Maye, Wyniale McFadden, Queen E. (Johnnie) Wethington and Josophine (Author) Johnson; and four brothers, Abraham L. (Rose) Davis Jr., Archie (Paulett) Davis, Elijah Davis and John (Tina) Davis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at Little Rock Baptist Church in Gosport with Rev. Abraham L. Davis Jr., Rev. Tommie Lee Chapman, Rev. Michael Wilson, Prophetess Wyniale McFadden and Rev. Matthew Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Patricia Dellsperger
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Patricia Dellsperger, 57, of Mexia died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at her home.
Dellsperger was born in New Orleans and had been a resident of Mexia for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Delores Dellsperger; and one sister, Dianna Mareno.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Dawn) Dellsperger and Adam Dellsperger, both of Mexia; one brother, Joseph Dellsperger of Mexia; one sister, Paula (Phil) Bryant of Mexia; and four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mary Alice (Farlow) Henson
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Mary Alice (Farlow) Henson, 65, of Mexia died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Henson was a native of Robertsdale and a member of the Davisville Community Church in Atmore. She retired from the telephone company after 23 years of service as an operator and was currently employed with the State of Alabama, Home Health Program at the Monroe County Health Department in Monroeville where she recently completed 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. T.J. “Jake” and Agnes Farlow of Robertsdale; and her brother, Robert Edward Farlow of Mobile.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Ray Henson of Mexia; two sons, Robert Wesley (Teresa) Gibson Sr. of Dothan and Christopher Scott Henson of Robert Lee, Texas; three daughters, Sharon Lewis (Tony) Saliba of Dothan, Rhonda (Jeff) Price of Sylacauga and Mary (Robert) Lewis of Summerdale; two sisters, Bonnie (Gleason) Peavy of Mexia and Bobbie Lambert of Daphne; and 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor John Shavers officiating.

Bertha McMillian
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Bertha McMillian, 94, of Excel died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at Englewood Nursing Home.
McMillian was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Limestone Faulk AME Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board, Missionary Society and was a deaconess. She was also a member of the Order of Easter Star #593 and Drewry Pride.
Survivors include a son, Progressive (Ruby) McMillian Jr. of Mobile; daughters, Sallie Portis of Mobile, Annie (James) Andrews and Minnie P. McMillian, both of Monroeville and Eula (Dernard Lett) Smith of Excel; sisters, Mary Sigler of Mobile and Lillie Cannon of Pensacola, Fla.;19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at Limestone Faulk AME Zion Church Drewry with Rev. Denbray Archie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Joe Henry Shelley
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Joe Henry Shelley, 101, of Excel died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 at his home.
Shelley was a native of McWilliams and had resided in Excel most all of his life. He was a member of the Excel Baptist Church and had owned and operated a fertilizer company for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Shelley of Excel; and one brother, John Shelley of Chickasaw.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 27 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Excel Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin in the church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Morris Hyatt, Rev. Tom Daniels, Rev. Terry Harden, and Rev. Hughie Denton officiating. Burial will follow immediately in the Excel Cemetery.

Yvonne “Tot” Peoples-Wesley
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Yvonne “Tot” Peoples-Wesley, 72, of Limestone died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Wesley was a native of Monroeville and lived in Monroe County all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Limestone Baptist Church Monroeville.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Wesley of Monroeville; sons, Chester (Veverly) Atkinson Jr. of Flovilla, Ga., Jeffrey (Sabrina) Atkinson, Kenneth Atkinson and Theophluis Atkinson, all of Monroeville and James (Gloria) Atkinson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; stepson, Aundre (Tarsha) Wesley of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughters, Wynonia (Roosevelt) Lipscomb of Monroeville and Vanessa (Ullie) Ball of Lockhart; stepdaughters, Marzlea Wesley and Kessie (Finnell) Davison, both of Mobile; brother, Charlie (Betty) Peoples of Monroeville; sister, Mary (Alfred) Malone of Frisco City; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church Monroeville with Rev. Michael Horn officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ethel Lou Lambert
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Ethel Lou Lambert, 95, of Claiborne died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Englewood Nursing Home.
Lambert was a native of Perdue Hill and lived all of her life in Monroe County. Prior to her health failing she worked with the Monroe County Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She worked in the lunchroom at the former Mary Gardner School in Frisco City and also worked at Englewood Nursing Home as a nurses’ aide. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church Claiborne and was also a member of Ruth Choice Chapter #821 OES and was a past associate conductress and secretary. She was also the past president of the Missionary Society, senior mother of the church, former choir member and was a deaconess.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Alonzo Lambert Sr. of Claiborne; and her parents, Charlie and Mary Hannah Benjamin-Jackson of Perdue Hill.
Survivors include one stepson, Hildra (Elnora) Williams of Mobile; two daughters, Sarah (Fitzhugh) Tarry of Buffalo, N.Y. and Deborah (Barry) Maclin of Huntsville; one sister, Geneva Penn of Finchburgh; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 21 at Penn’s Chapel from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Claiborne with Rev. Osbry Millender, pastor, officiating.
