Funeral for Gladys LaFever, who died Monday, October 27, 1997, at her residence, was held Wednesday, October 29. The 2 p.m. service was held at Radney's Funeral Home chapel in Alexander City with the Rev. Leon Railey officiating.

Burial was in the Hillview Memorial Park in Alexander City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cullie LaFever.

Survivors include five daughters, Lois Tanner of Senoia, Ga., Pat Bowen of Rex, Ga., Carol Oliver of Greeleyville, S.C., Myrion Liles of Jonesboro, Ga. and Kathy Coburn of Moulton; two brothers, Gene Denney of Rockford and Neal Denny of Sycamore; five sisters, Arie Griffin, Maurene Gray and Pauline Eperson, all of Alexander City, Laverne Quinton of Forest Park, Ga. and Ethelene Hancock of Hackneyville; and seven grandchildren.

Iwana B. Mitchell

76, sales associate, Moulton

Iwana B. Mitchell died Saturday, October 25, 1997, at her residence.

The funeral was held Monday, October 27, 11 a.m., at Moulton Church of Christ with Bill Becker and Hoyt Nelson officiating.

Burial was in the Moulton Memory Gardens with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Moulton and had retired from King's Department Store after 52 years of service. She was a member of Moulton Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Lee Mitchell; three daughters, Betty Mitchell Sims of Hartselle, Jane Mitchell McCullough of Moulton and Carol Mitchell Hamilton of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mitchell D. Sims, Michael W. McCullough, Neal Hamilton, John R. Elliott, Ricky McWhorter, Jeff Black and Matt Cadrecha.

Howard S. Sapp

88, retired carpenter, Hillsboro

Funeral for Howard S. Sapp was held Thursday, October 30, 2 p.m., at Lawrence Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Charles Foreman officiating.

Burial was in the Center Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Mr. Sapp died Tuesday, October 28, 1997, in a fire at his home.

He was born in Moulton. Mr. Sapp was a member of Five Points Christian Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Willodean Hembree of Somerville, Betty Hembree of Speake and Virginia Garrison of Huntsville; five sons, Cathel Westmoreland of Hillsboro, Casey, Carey, Conley and Clayton Westmoreland, all of Addison; one brother, Willis Sapp of Hartselle; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Arthur W. Wright

83, retired carpenter, Trinity

Arthur W. Wright died Thursday, October 30, 1997, at Columbia Shoals Northwest Medical Center.

The funeral was held Saturday, November 1, 2 p.m., at Akins Funeral Home with the Revs. James McCullar and Steve Baskins officiating.

Burial was in the Franklin Memory Gardens.

Mr. Wright was born in Lawrence County and was a former resident of Russellville.

He is survived by two sons, Gwyn Wright of Florence and Lynn Wright of Caddo; three daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Edge of Cullman, Regina Pennington of Russellville and Rita Laurimore of Mount Hope; two stepsons, Roy Allen and Tommy Allen, both of Russellville; two stepdaughters, Martha Franks and Dot Scott, both of Russellville; 13 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 24 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Imogene Waldrep Narmore

82, homemaker, Tuscumbia

Imogene Narmore died Monday, November 3, 1997, at Shoals Nursing Home.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, November 5, 2 p.m., at Colbert Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Raymond Kerby officiating and Colbert Memorial Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Lawrence County.

Survivors include two sisters, Norma King of Decatur and Bobbie Sue Chevez of New Mexico; and a brother, Coy Waldrep of Athens.

Dustin Heath Morgan

A graveside service for Dustin Heath Morgan of Falkville was held Tuesday, November 4, 11 a.m., at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Nicky Pressnell officiating.

The infant was born and died Sunday, November 2, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include his mother, Bridgit Morgan of Falkville; a brother, Tyler Morgan of Falkville; and his grandparents, Michael and Shirley Morgan of Trinity and Elizabeth Corum of Falkville.

John Stockman

77, retired service engineer, Trinity

A graveside service was held for John Samuel Stockman on Sunday, November 2, 2 p.m., at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Random Jackson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Stockman died Thursday, October 30, 1997, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Plymouth, Ind., was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a resident of Ohio before moving to Trinity 28 years ago. He was retired from Worthington Steel Co. and was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Stockman; two sons, Robert Stockman and Arthur Stockman, both of Covington, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Janice Ann Kielty of Zionsville, Ind.; two brothers, Richard Stockman of Michigan and Fred Stockman of Ohio; three sisters, Phyllis Johnson and Eleanor Moody, both of Texas and Marie Mason of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dinah Lowry Jones

37, Shirt Depot employee, Leighton

Funeral for Dinah Lowry Jones, who died Friday, October 24, 1997, was held Monday, October 27, 2 p.m., at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Wilson officiated.

Burial was in the Poplar Creek Cemetery with Morrison Funeral Home, Inc., Tuscumbia, directing.

She was a native of Colbert County and was employed in Elgin. Mrs. Jones was a member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Bill and Uleen Lowry of Leighton; a son, Trevor Williams Jones of Leighton; three brothers, Daniel Lowry, Jerome Lowry and Tyrone Lowry, all of Leighton; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jack Terry, Kenneth Hanvy, John Phil Lowry, Jeremy Sapp, Mickey Grimes, Billy Kidd, Lucian Tidwell, Travis Dawson and Jack Willis.

Aaron Clopton

83, Courtland

Funeral for Aaron Clopton will be Saturday, November 8, noon, at Jackson Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Gregory Woods officiating. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Rocky Hill Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Clopton died Sunday, November 2, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

He was a native of Lawrence County and a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Clopton; seven sons, James Aaron Clopton, Cedric Clopton, Charles Clopton and James Oneal Elliott, all of Chicago, George Clopton of Atlanta, Ga., Ronnie Clopton of Huntsville and Samuel Elliott of Courtland; one daughter, Bernice Elliott of Gary, Ind.; one brother, Earl Clopton of Kansas City, Missouri.

Nephews will be the pallbearers.

Julia Lipscomb

87, homemaker, Town Creek

Funeral for Julia Lipscomb, who died Monday, November 10, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center, was held Wednesday, November 12, at Lawrence Funeral Home chapel. The 2 p.m. service was officiated by the Revs. Marcus Lipscomb and Bob Sims.

Burial was in the Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Lipscomb was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Lipscomb.

Survivors include two daughters, Alene Dutton and Laverne Lansdell, both of Town Creek; one brother, O.E. Horton, Moulton; a sister, Irene Escue, Moulton; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Jim "Big Daddy" Staten

101, self-employed, Hillsboro

Jim "Big Daddy" Staten died Thursday, November 6, 1997, at South Morgan Health Care Center.

The funeral was held Tuesday, November 11, 1 p.m., at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Town Creek, with the Rev. Jessie Little officiating.

Burial was in the Calvary Memorial Gardens with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Staten was born in Parkin, Ark., to William and Mary Staten.

Survivors include three sons, Robert C. Staten of Wilmington, Del., Jimmy Staten of Decatur and Leonard Staten of Clio; one stepdaughter, Mary Mosley of Hillsboro; one sister, Ella Jones of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.
