Martha Stelcine Kelley died Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at Decatur General Hospital.

The funeral was held Saturday, November 29, 2 p.m., at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Hale officiating.

Burial was in the Smyrna Cemetery.

She was born in Lawrence County to Henry and Pearl Stricklin.

Survivors include one son, William Kelley of Charleston, Ind.; two daughters, Minnie Daniel of Hillsboro and Liddie Terry of Moulton; two sisters, Evelene Sawyers of Trinity and Earline Johnson of Moulton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Thomas Edward Barnes

61, retired self-employed, Winfield

Funeral for Thomas Edward Barnes, who died Friday, November 21, 1997, at his home, was held Sunday, November 23. The service was held at Lawrence Funeral Home in Winfield, with the Rev. Hollie Wayne Spiller officiating.

Burial was in the Hamilton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Barnes was born in Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife, Nannie Mae Barnes; four sons, Larry Edward Barnes and Steve Dale Barnes, both of Winfield, Thomas Dewayne Barnes of Nashville and Eddie Wayne Barnes of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

James "Lois" Kerby

75, farmer, Russellville

Funeral for James "Lois" Kerby was held Sunday, November 30, 2 p.m., at Prairie Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Errol Oden and J.C. Hand officiating.

Burial was in the Gargis Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Kerby died Friday, November 28, 1997, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.

He was born in Lawrence County to Lois Clyde and Nona Masterson Kerby. Mr. Kerby was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Marie Kerby; four sons, Wade Kerby of Moulton, Mikan Kerby and Jimmy Kerby, both of Russellville and Danny Kerby of Florence; three daughters, Rachel Roden and Peggy Sims, both of Russellville and Faylene Shelnutt of Phil Campbell; one brother, Delano Kerby of Mount Hope; one sister, Louise Kelley of Town Creek; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jerald Kerby, Ricky Roden, Joel Kerby, Darrin Kerby, David Shelnutt and Jamie Kerby.

Mary Lewis Davis

86, homemaker, Hillsboro

Funeral for Mary Lewis Davis was held Tuesday, December 2, noon, at Alpha Seventh Day Adventist Church with Antoine Maycock officiating.

Burial was in the Davis Family Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Davis died Friday, November 28, 1997, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital.

She was born to Judge and Emma Sykes Lewis. Mrs. Davis was a member of Alpha Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Natus T. Davis; two sons, John Davis of Athens and Marvin Davis of Decatur; three daughters, Doris Gill of Decatur, Margaret Williams and Thelma Davis, both of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, John Lewis of Huntsville and Joe Lewis of Decatur; two sisters, Mahalia Burt of Decatur and Josephine Curry of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Nephews and friends were the pallbearers.

Nolia Stewart

88, homemaker, Town Creek

Funeral for Nolia Stewart was held Monday, December 1, 2 p.m., at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Sims, Braxton Parker and Larry Crumpton officiating.

Burial was in the Hard Shell Cemetery.

Mrs. Stewart died Saturday, November 29, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

She was born in Lawrence County and was a member of the Baptist church. Mrs. Stewart was the widow of Jesse Stewart.

Survivors include one son, Ernest Lee Stewart of Town Creek; one daughter, Mildred Parker of Town Creek; five sisters, Ora Briley, Aulcie Bradford, Berchie Kerby, Azilee Scoggin and Hazel Kerby, all of Town Creek; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lyndon Blaxton, Vernon Parker, Michael Stewart, Coy Kerby, Olie Onstott and James Scoggin.

James Louie Waldrop

82, retired inspector, Moulton

Funeral for James Louie Waldrop was held Monday, December 1, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Moulton with the Rev. Carl Long officiating.

Burial was in the Moulton Memory Gardens with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Waldrop died Saturday, November 29, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

He was born in Lawrence County. Mr. Waldrop was retired from Wolverine Tube.

He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Ann Wallace of Moulton; one son, Jimmy Waldrop of Trinity; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Nephews and grandsons were the pallbearers.

Thomas Kyle Johnson

91, security guard, Hartselle

Funeral for Thomas Kyle Johnson, who died Tuesday, November 25, 1997, at his home, was held Friday, November 28. The 10 a.m. service was held at Peck Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Nappier and Charles Stone officiating.

Burial was in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church, a Mason at Mt. Zion Lodge and was retired from Wolverine Tube. mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father and mother, Greene William and Nancy Elizabeth Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Wallace Johnson; a son, J. Kenneth Johnson of Hartselle; three daughters, Helen Woodard of Moulton, Maxine Hall of Hartselle and Hope Landman of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two stepsons, E.G. Wallace Jr. of Decatur and Jimmy Wallace of Hartselle; three stepdaughters, Bess Clark and Marsha Shelton, both of Decatur and Peggy Reynolds of Hartselle; two brothers, Gil Johnson of Decatur and Willie Johnson of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Greg Hanners, Donnie Jones, Barry Johnson, Hoyt Johnson, Rayburn Johnson and Brandon Sparkman.

Honorary pallbearers were Cordis Blackwood, John Crawford, Leon Dawson, Retnal Hightower, James Long, Philip Morgan and Grady Parker.

Inez Blankenship

75, homemaker, Town Creek

Funeral for Inez Blankenship, who died Sunday, December 7, 1997, at Helen Keller Hospital, was Tuesday, December 9. The 2 p.m. service was held a Wolf Springs Church of Christ with Maurice Logan, Calvin Jones and Bob Sims officiating.

Burial was in the Providence Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Lawrence County and was a member of Wolf Springs Church of Christ. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Blankenship.

Survivors include three sons, Danny Blankenship of Moulton, Ronnie Blankenship and Timothy Blankenship, both of Town Creek; three daughters, Ann Green, Louise Parker and Sandra Harris, all of Town Creek; four brothers, Rex Allen and Delano Allen, both of Kansas City, Mo., Dwight Allen of Spring Valley and O.D. Allen of Town Creek; a sister, Peggy Wilson of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Denny Blankenship, Dusten Blankenship, Darrin Kerby, Mitch Rhea, Greg Dutton and Ken Grissom.

Lona B. Mote

73, homemaker, Moulton

Lona B. Mote died Sunday, December 7, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral was held Wednesday, December 10, 2 p.m., at Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church with Revs. Marvin Waugh, John Kelly and Clyde Goodlett officiating.

Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mote was born in Lawrence County and was the widow of Chester Mote. She was a member of Owen Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Carl Mote of Moulton and Bobby Mote of Arab; one daughter, Glenda Lindley of Moulton; a sister, Dorothy White of Moulton; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chad Mote, Kevin Mote, Scott Curry, Willard Blankenship, Carl Wilson and Royal Mote.

Nicholas Shane Hopkins

Funeral for one-day-old, Nicholas Shane Hopkins, who died December 1, 1997, at Huntsville Hospital, was held Friday, December 5. The 2 p.m. service was held at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Larry Pearson and Billy Hopkins officiating.

Burial was in the K-P Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Joel and Robin Hopkins of Russellville; one brother, Steven Hopkins of Russellville; two sisters, Kandre Hopkins and Rebekkah Hopkins, both of Russellville.

Alvie Thomas Masterson

93, retired farmer, Russellville

Alvie Thomas Masterson died Friday, December 5, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral was held Sunday, December 7, 2 p.m., at Lawrence Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl Gaston officiating.

Burial was in the Masterson Cemetery.

He was born in Lawrence County to Posey and Willie Masterson. Mr. Masterson was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church #1.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Masterson; three sons, Royce Masterson and O'Neal Masterson, both of Russellville and Benford Masterson of Decatur; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Waymon Pace, Eddie Masterson, W.C. Dawson, Renea Payne, Roger Masterson and Willard Ray Dawson.
