WILKINSON
05-14-2008

Services for Frankie Lois Wilkinson, 80, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in the chapel of K.L. Brown Memory Chapel. Clyde Ray officiated. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wilkinson died May 7 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Routh, of DeSoto, Mo., Lois Putman, of Jacksonville and Lisa Johnson, of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Ricky Wilkinson, of Jacksonville, Sam Wilkinson, of Heflin and Terry Wilkinson, of Macon, Ga.; a sister, Rachel Dye of Macon, Ga.; three brothers, EJ Cardin and Jim Cardin of Rome, Ga., and Bill Cardin of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wilkinson was a member of Weaver Church of Christ. Her husband Eugene Wilkinson, son, Johnny Wilkinson, and brothers, Frank, Samuel, Robert and Harold Cardin preceded her in death.

BROOKS

EASTABOGA — Funeral services for Thomas W. "Tommy" Brooks Jr., 53, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Coldwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Morgan and The Rev. Thomas Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Coldwater Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Brooks passed away Thursday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include one sister, Darlene Houston and her husband, Bill, of Eastaboga; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bussey, Eddy Nunnelley, Terry Brooks, Jason McCormick, Jon Burdick and Rick Walls. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Open Door Sunday School Class, Coach Bill Burgess and Bruce Rice. Mr. Brooks was a native of Dearmanville and a resident of Coldwater. He retired from Tyson Foods. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, T.W. and Iris Brooks; two brothers, Willie L. Brooks and Freddie H. Brooks. Mr. Brooks played football for Oxford High School. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. (256) 236-3441

VINA — Thelma Mae Ledbetter Guerra, 67, died on May 16, 2008 at her home in Vina, Alabama. She was born May 22, 1940 to Thurston and Pearlie Thorn Ledbetter. She was formerly a resident of Jacksonville and she was a caregiver for animals, a Christian and devoted mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Sarah Ann Ledbetter, Icie Dewdrop Stanphill and Darlene Ledbetter; and one brother, William Franklin Ledbetter. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Alabama with Bro. W.D. Humphres. Burial will follow at Old Burleson Cemetery with Deaton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the funeral home.

Survivors include two children, Margaret Ann Guerra, of Jacksonville and Richard Guerra (Tammy), of Naples, Italy; two sisters, Ester Jane Ledbetter, of Vina, and Nancy Hudson (Leslie), of Garden City; two nephews and three great nieces.

Pallbearers will be Richard Geurra, Leslie Hudson, Greg Hudson, Jeff Hudson, Greg Miller and Leburn Keeton.

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Richard Lowery Bogard, 63, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reaves, the Rev. Monty Bogard and the Rev. Ronny Moore officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 p.m. until 7p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Bogard died Saturday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Bogard; his father, Herschel Bogard; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Terry Deason, Lisa and Craig Vinson, Stephanie and Winston Steen and Amanda and Nick Arnold; two sisters, Betty Voight and Emily Hopkins and one brother, Monty Bogard; seven grandchildren, Haley Arnold, Russell Arnold, Caitlyn Vinson, Anthony Vinson, Leon Steen, KayLeigh Steen and Leighton Arnold; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Arnold and Kelcie Wilkinson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Butch and Lisa Perkins and Darryl and Patricia Kimbrell and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joylyn Bogard and his brother, Keith Bogard.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Arnold, David Waits, DeWayne Kimbrell, Nick Lovejoy, Eric Arnold and Mike McKay. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the ninth floor RMC, New Beacon Hospice, Dr. Warren Wallace, Dr. Rohit Patel, Dr. Mohamed Jasser and Dr. James West. ANNISTON — Funeral service for Jerry Crawford ìCowboyî Cosper, 66, of Anniston will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Crest Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cosper died Saturday at Gadsden Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda R. Cosper of Anniston; two daughters, Debbie Cosper Bass of Woodland and Amanda Hayes Smitherman of Alexandria; one son, Stephen Cosper of Heflin; three granddaughters, Shea McCombs, Haley Burnham, Megan Hayes; five grandsons, Jeffery Chastain, T. J. Bass, Mitchell Hayes, Seth Smitherman and Will Smitherman; two great- grandsons, Kane Bowen and Lyric Chastain and two brothers, Ray Cosper of Heflin and his wife, Lucille and Gary Cosper and his wife, Jackie of Lawrenceville, Ga.. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Hayes.

Pallbearers will be Edsell Haynes, Charlie Goode, Gerald Tice, Tim Jarman, Perry Gardner and Randy Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Inspirational Sunday School Class. Mr. Cosper was a resident of Calhoun County for the last 35 years. He was an active member of Hill Crest Baptist Church and the Inspirational Sunday School Class. He was self employed and retired from JCís Painting and Remodeling. The family request memorial contributions to Hill Crest Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. ANNISTON — Graveside services for Margaret B Driggers, age, 68 of Anniston, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Oxford Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ike Stovall and the Rev. Carl Hanners officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Mrs. Driggers died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Venson H Driggers; son, Steve Driggers, daughter; Pamela Poulin and her husband, Ricky, son, David Driggers, son, Wayne Driggers and a sister, Virginia Dover. eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Mrs. Driggers was a life long native of Anniston and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.

JACKSONVILLE — A celebration of life service for Regina Beth Jones, 50, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Cheaha State Park Chapel with The Rev. Lloyd Watkins officiating. K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jones died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Jones; one son, Jeremy (Kara Lee) Smith; three brothers, Rodney (Anita) Campbell, Douglas (Winnona) Campbell and, Danny (Barbara) Campbell; two grandchildren, Logan and Alyssa Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margie Campbell. She enjoyed playing cards with her loving friends and family and was thankful for everything they did for her in her time of sickness. Mrs. Jones was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County.

OXFORD — Funeral service for Mr. Charles E. Lester, 82, of Oxford, who passed away August 17, 2008, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Baptist Church. the Rev. Jerry Starling will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. He will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Mr. Lester was born in Cleburne County. After his service life, he became a long time resident of Oxford. He was a WW II Army Veteran and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he once served as a deacon. He had a life long career with Alabama Power Company with almost 40 years of service. Mr. Lester is preceded in death by his daughter Charlene Lester. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maelene Turner Lester; children, Greg (Sue) Lester, Cindy (Ken) Quick; grandchildren, Chad (Cathy) Quick, Brandon and Rusty Quick, Michael and Lindsey Lester; great-grandchildren, Tori and Caiden Quick; brother, Donald (Yvonne) Lester; sister, Geraldine King, and several nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund. Special thank you to Butterworth Nursing Service, Alacare Hospice, Debra Spurling and Marion Quick.
