GEORGE D. HANNAH

LINCOLN Graveside service for George D. (Duck) Hannah, 54, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga with the Rev. Jim Arnall officiating.

Mr. Hannah died Aug. 11 at his residence. He was a Baptist by faith and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 466 in Dothan. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Hannah of Lincoln; daughter, Carrie Baker of Dothan; sons, Brian Hannah and David Hannah of Dothan; stepson, Jay Turner of Alexander City; his parents, Jack and Nan Hannah of Lincoln; sister, Margaret Yates of Talladega; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Andy Allred, Butch Yates, Dennis Baker, David Yates, Wayne Cross, Brian Hannah, Jay Turner and Carthell Bullock.

All members of Local No. 443 IBEW Montgomery and Doug Fincher, David Challenger and Larry Wooten will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

ILA LEE HOWELL

CLANTON Funeral service for Ila Lee Howell will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church in Coosa County with the Rev. William Casaday officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.

Mrs. Howell died Aug. 12. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jester Howell.

She is survived by son, Jimmy Howell; sisters, Sara Harmon and Gladys Smitherman; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Martin Funeral Home in Clanton will direct the service.

JOSHUA MATTHEWS

CAMP HILL Graveside service for infant Joshua Matthews will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Dadeville City Cemetery.

The infant died Aug. 7 at East Alabama Medical Center.

He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Yohontas Matthews of Camp Hill; sisters, Yohontas Kyre Greathouse, Eboni Matthews and Sara Matthews of Camp Hill; brothers, Branden Matthews, Byron Matthews, Omar Matthews and Caleb Matthews of Dadeville; and a host of other relatives.

Wright's Funeral Home will direct the service.

PRESTON PUCKETT

SPRINGVILLE Funeral service for Preston Puckett, 90, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church near Springville with the Rev. J.W. Hallman and the Rev. Don Mauldin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Puckett died Aug. 12. He was married to Melba Sanders Puckett, his childhood sweetheart, for almost 66 years. He was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Proudly self-employed for most of his life, he was the retired owner of Puckett Egg Company. He was a member of Springville Masonic Lodge, where he recently received his 50 year pin. He was a former basketball player for Howard College and was the first Springville High School graduate to receive a basketball scholarship to college. He served as past president of the Springville Athletic Booster Club and served on the board of directors of the Ashville Savings Bank. An avid outdoorsman, he was an accomplished wing shot.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Sanders Puckett; son, Larry Puckett and daughter-in-law Linda of Prattville; and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynne Dawson and husband Gary of Pheonix, Ariz.

The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in his memory to the church at 14167 Highway 11, Springville, Ala., 35146.

Ridout's Trussville Chapel will direct the service.

EVIAN LITTLEJOHN ROBERTS

TALLADEGA Graveside service for Evian Littlejohn Roberts, 83, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Pine Hill Memorial Park with Kyle Washam officiating.

Mrs. Roberts died Aug. 12 at Citizens BMC. She was born and raised in Chilton County and spent the last 25 years of her life in Talladega County. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by niece, Dean E. Searcy and husband Bob of Talladega; nephew, Mickey Littlejohn and wife Barbara of Mobile; great-nieces, Charlotte S. Washam and husband Wayne and Joy S. Bittle and husband Gerald of Talladega; great-great-nieces, Mandy J. Thornton and husband Patrick of Talladega, Jennifer Jones of Birmingham and Stacy Littlejohn of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-great-nephew, Kyle S. Washam and wife Stephanie of Atlanta, Ga.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

JIMMY SWAIN

VINCENT Jimmy Swain, of 205 Fleming Lane, died Aug. 11 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sims Funeral Service.

MARY NELL KNOTT WAITES

TALLADEGA Graveside service for Mary Nell Knott Waites, 77, will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. John Waites and the Rev. Charlie Bolt officiating.

Mrs. Waites died Aug. 11 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred (Ed) Waites; her parents, the Rev. E.O. and Willie Butler Knott; sister, Charlotte Juanita Knott; and a grandson, James E. Waites II. She was a native of LaGrange, Ga., and had lived most of her life in Talladega County. She was a retired nurse, with more than 24 years of service at Citizens BMC in Talladega. She was a member of the Cherry Street Church of God for the past 53 years. She and her husband owned Waites Grocery in Talladega for many years.

She is survived by daughters, Freddie Nell Jones of Talladega, Audrey Juanita Gilley of Marietta, Ga., and Evelyn Waites of Talladega; sons, Jim Waites, John Waites and Dan Waites of Talladega; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Gilley, Jason Jones, Allen Yates, John Ed Waites, Cole Waites and Tyler Waites.

The family will receive friends Wednesday for one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARY HUGHES WILLIAMS

LINCOLN Funeral service for Mary Hughes Williams will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lincoln United Methodist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Bob Blackwell and the Rev. Jim Napp officiating. Graveside service will be Friday at 4 p.m. in the family cemetery on Shelly Prairie Plantation in Minter City, Miss.

Mrs. Williams died Aug. 11 following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Mississippi and lived in Tuscaloosa for many years before making Lincoln and Talladega her home. She attended Lincoln United Methodist Church and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She served as chairwoman of the Board of Stewards, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Ministry for Lincoln Methodist. She was also a church hostess, youth director and, for more than 20 years, leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship.

She was devoted to young people, serving in Tuscaloosa as youth group leader, Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader. She served as Regent of the Broken Arrow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and organized the Canoe Creek Chapter of the Children of the American Revolution. She belonged to the Anniston Business and Professional Women, the Alabama Parkinson's Association and the Lincoln Sewing Club. In Tuscaloosa, she owned several children's shops in west Alabama and with her late husband, Harold, developed Meadowbrook Country Club and Indian Hills Country Club. Her catering business served many friends and businesses in Lincoln, Talladega, Pell City and Anniston.

She is survived by son, John Harold Williams Jr. of Rusk, Texas; daughter, Mary Evans Swope of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, John Edward Hughes Jr. of Greenwood, Miss.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hoyt Williams, Joshua Hughes Williams, James Henry Williams, John Robert Stringfellow Swope, Mary Kempton Swope Walker, Timothy James Walker and Jim Townsend.

Honorary pallbearers will be Julian King, Hugo Molliston, Carl Ponder Jr., C.S. Steed, Bryan Townsend, Ed Christenberry, Burl Heath, Levy Wilson, Ira McElderry, Andy Allred, Corky Graham, Max Dupree of Atlanta and Carl Koch of Nashville.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alabama Parkinson's Association and Talladega College.

Usrey Funeral Home and Wilson and Knight Funeral Home will coordinate the services.

ESSIE MAE CUNNINGHAM

TALLADEGA Funeral service for Essie Mae Cunningham, 78, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lily Hill Baptist Church in Talladega with Brother Anthony Cunningham and Brother Arthur Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Cemetery.

Mrs. Cunningham died Aug. 7. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three children, one grandchild, four brothers and five sisters. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega and was a member of Lily Hill Baptist Church. She attended Grace Thru Faith Tabernacle and New Faith in Christ Jesus Outreach Ministries.

She is survived by sons, Eddie Wayne Cunningham, Brother Anthony Ray Cunningham Sr., Mack Arthur Cunningham and Alfred Jerome Cunningham; daughters, Betty Ruth Tuck, Patricia Verdell Mosley and Alberta Cunningham; sisters, Eula Mae McKenzie and Josephine McKenzie; 29 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Anthony R. Cunningham Jr., Steve Tuck, Dennis Tuck, Michael Tuck, Darell Tuck, Arelious Tuck, James Tuck, Maurice Tuck and Andraous Cunningham.

Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

MONTINE DICKENSON ROZELLE

LINCOLN Funeral service for Montine Dickenson Rozelle, 84, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lincoln United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Napp officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

Mrs. Rozelle died Aug. 13 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Lincoln, attended Bernau College for two years and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. She was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church and was a member of the Quest Club. She was one of the founders of the Fun Club, was retired from the Department of Human Resources and was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Rozelle and a son, Mark Rozelle.

She is survived by son, Hal Rozelle and wife Ava H. of Lincoln; daughter, Susan Rozelle Bezemer and husband Cor of Brantford, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Eddie Tyler and Anna Trawick of Brantford, Ontario, Rebecca Rozelle of Carbondale, Ill., and Jessica Rozelle and Ryan Rozelle of Lincoln and great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Elizabeth Trawick and Bryce Tyler of Brantford, Ontario.

The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m.

The body may be viewed for one hour before the service at the church.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.
