MARY 'IRENE' RIFFLE

Mary Irene Riffle, 72, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug 12, 2010, at Flowers Hospital, following a battle with cancer. She was living in Enterprise with her daughter, Dawn Mathner.

Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Mathner of Enterprise and Linda Boils of Sweetwater, Tenn.; three sons, William Thompson, Fanny Springs, Fla., Ray Riffle of Patascala, Ohio, and Bob Riffle of Blacklick, Ohio; brother, William L. Krumm of Anthony, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

ROY JONES (R.J.) LINDSEY

Roy Jones (R.J.) Lindsey, 76, of Enterprise went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with the Rev. Sonny Moore, Rev. Ralph Jones and Kenneth Straughn officiating.

Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to: First Baptist Church Building Fund, 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.

R. J. was a Korean War Veteran and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lindsey of Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Brian Dow of Enterprise; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Sherrie Lindsey of Enterprise; six grandchildren, Brendan, Jordan and Lindsey Dow and Sheena, Seth and Shelby Whitaker; three sisters, Nettie Akridge of Elba, Ann Phelps (John) of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Faye Wise of Mossy Head, Fla.; one brother, Shelley Lindsey (Linda) of Niceville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Fabiana Beatriz Lecerf, 86, of Andalusia passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 in Andalusia Manor.

Memorial services were at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 508 Samford Road, Andalusia, AL 36450 with Father Tony officiating.

DONALD EUGENE BOYD

Donald Eugene Boyd, 80, of Enterprise passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, Ga.

Burial followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Linnie Marie Boyd and Jess Kyle Boyd; sisters, Joyce Turner and Nila Johnson; a brother, Jimmy Boyd.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carolyn Boyd; daughters, Deborah Lynn Rich, Patricia Sharon O'Kelly, Theresa Ann Rackley, Mary Elizabeth Turner and Donna Elaine Lynn; son, Finley Kyle Boyd; sisters, Wanda Ford and Gail Cogburn; brother, Richard Boyd; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

HELEN ELIZABETH CERES

Helen Elizabeth Murphy Ceres, 87, of Daleville died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at Seale, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mrs. Ceres, the daughter of the late Loran M. and Mattie Gay Murphy, was born June 11, 1923 in West Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Norbert Ceres.

Survivors include her son, Loran (Marie) Patterson of Daleville; and her granddaughter, Jackie Seivers of Ozark.

LEXIE RUTH MARTIN

Lexie Ruth Martin, 84, of New Brockton passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise with Pastor Roger Murdock officiating.

Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Fellowship Church, 612 Cohran Store Rd., Douglasville, GA 30134.

Mrs. Martin was born Dec. 28, 1926 in Holmes County, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Harriett Smith Helms; a daughter, Denise Mims; and her husband, Syrrell Martin.

Survivors include her children, Ann Rudd (Harry) of Villa Rica, Ga., Phyllis Wegener of Beckley, W.Va., Janey Strickland (Leon) of New Brockton and Jim Mims Jr. (Dee Dee) of Garland, Texas; three brothers; one sister; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

ROBERT MAYO CARMICHAEL

Funeral services for Robert Mayo Carmichael, 66, of Elba, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Sam Williams and Mixon Carmichael Jr. officiating.

Burial with full military honors followed in the church cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Carmichael passed away Saturday morning, May 27, 2006 at Medical Center Enterprise following a brief illness. He was born in Coffee County on April 9, 1940 to the late Mixon Carmichael and Fostine Taylor Carmichael. He was a career military man whose service to his country spanned for 23 years. He was employed with the Fort Rucker Fire Department for 14 years. His father, as well as a daughter, Collen Shane Carmichael, a son, Bobby Ray Carmichael, and granddaughter, Amy Marie, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Carmichael of Elba; his mother, Fostine Carmichael of Enterprise; two sons, Lynn Keith Carmichael and James Kenneth Carmichael; one stepson, Wayland Bernice Dowell; two sisters, Ann Day and Jill Carmichael; three brothers, Mixon Carmichael Jr., Jack Carmichael, and Joe Carmichael; five grandchildren, Jessica, Casey, Amber, Amanda and Madison; one great-grandchild, Jordyn Lynn Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

ROBERT MITCHELL FLEISSNER SR.

Funeral services for Robert Mitchell Fleissner Sr., 74, of Enterprise were at 2 p.m. Monday, July, 7, 2008, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Endrihs officiating and Providence Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3338-L Country Club Road, PMB 305, Valdosta, GA 31605.

Mr. Fleissner passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at his home, after a long battle with heart disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Michael Fleissner and a brother, John Fleissner.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Fleissner of Enterprise; three daughters, Melissa Williams of Wingdale, N.Y., Susanne Adams of Mahopae, N.Y., and Jennifer Cargain Fleissner of Napanoch, N.Y.; three sons, Mitchell Fleissner of Sedro Wooley, Wash., Robert Fleissner Jr. of Enterprise, and Brian Fleissner of Mahopae; one sister, Dorothy Santos of Orange City, Fla.; two brothers, Michael Fleissner, and Raymond Fleissner, both of Daleville; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

GASTON J. HORNSBY JR.

Gaston J. Hornsby Jr., 83, of New Brockton passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Flowers Hospital.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at the EL Bethel Assembly of God with the Revs. Eddie Crutchfield Sr., Steve Comer and Greg Doss officiating.

Burial followed in the Old Tabernacle Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the El Bethel Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Esther Hornsby of New Brockton; daughters, Dr. Beverly Fox (Larry) of Daphne and Dr. Belinda (Wendy) Downing (Lomax) of New Brockton; sister, Dot Tindol of New Brockton; four brothers, Claxton Hornsby and Arthur Hornsby both of New Brockton, Leon Hornsby of Troy and William Allen Hornsby of Dothan; three grandchildren, Troy Fillingim, Heather Walden (Walt) and Brent Downing; one great-granddaughter, Kaelyn Fillingim; one great-grandson, Auston Walden; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers were Randy Hornsby, Ronnie Hornsby, Neal Tindol, Danny Hornsby, Randy Sellers and Matt Hornsby. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Hornsby, Tim Hornsby, Donnie Stevens, Mark Tindol, Larry Hornsby and Will Hornsby.

JOHN S. MITCHELL

John S. Mitchell, 88, of Enterprise, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 in the Medical Center Enterprise.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Earl Mitchell, Col. (Ret.) Rev. Sonny Moore and Dr. Frank Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home Monday from 5 until 8 pm. The body will be placed into the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church GA Program, 302 N. Main St., Enterprise, AL 36330.

He was born Oct. 19, 1921 in Cullman County, to the late L.S. and Florence Hendricks Mitchell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Enterprise. He was ordained as a deacon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Albertville. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He had lived in Enterprise since 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Zadle Mitchell of Enterprise; one son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Beverly Mitchell of Enterprise; three grandchildren: Melanie Sneed (Fred), Meredith Hamilton (Keith) and John Mitchell, Jr. (Heather), all of Enterprise; great-grandchildren: Jessica Sneed, Mitchell Bonura, Tatum Mitchell, Bailee Sneed, Camille Bonura, Tyler Mitchell; two step grandchildren: Clifton Sneed and Kodi Hamilton; sisters-in-law: Allie Swords and Hilda Cole, both of Albertville, Daisey Cole, Ocala, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Maj. (Ret.) Carlie Bryant, Don Vaughn, Lowell Galloway, Jimmy Smith, Frank Moultrie, Kinn Pittman and Ron Ferrell. His Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Gary Allen, Dr. Sam Sawyer and Dr. Sherry Roach, as well as the nurses on the fourth floor at Medical Center Enterprise.

IDA STRICKLAND

Ida Strickland, 57, of the New Hope Community passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, in Enterprise.

A funeral service was at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. J. C. Turner officiating.

Burial followed in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.

Survivors include her husband, Lomax Strickland of New Hope Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Cox (Joe) of Huntsville and Hollie Pursifull (Larry) of Prattville; seven grandchildren, Dana Marie Cochran, Scott Cochran and Rachelle Cox, all of Huntsville, Katlyn Downing, Alison Downing and Morgan Pursifull, all of Prattville and Stephen Cox of the U. S. Navy; her mother, Margaret Johnson of New Hope Community; a sister, Lonza Farkus (James) of Coffee Springs; a brother, Dennis Johnson (Sue) of Athens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Janey Strickland of New Brockton; and nephew and niece, Ricky and Derhonda Strickland.
