Funeral services for Jimmie Warren Driver, 68 of Verbena, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Davis officiating. Burial followed at Verbena Cemetery. Born on August 10, 1934 to Ocie H. Driver and Minnie Lee Driver, he died April 19, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. Survivors include his wife Nancy Ruth Driver of Verbena; sons Jimmy Dewayne Driver of Richland, Wash. and Michael Duncan Driver of Spring, Texas; daughters Linda Grier of Deatsville, Cindy Coolman of Houston, Texas and Kathy Pace of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for John David Driver, 68, Clanton, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton at 2 p.m., with Rev. Edward Chandler and Rev. Robert Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Barrett was born on Aug. 9, 1931, in Chilton County, the son of the late Jasper Lafayett and Nellie Kate Driver. He died on Jan. 25, 2000, at Chilton Medical Center. Children include three sons, Ray Driver, Clanton, Johnny Driver, Verbena, and Jimmy Driver, Marbury; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lena D. Driver, 85, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery, with Ridout's Southern Heritage directing. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 between 5:30-8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Lena D. Driver was born on March 12, 1915. She was the last surviving child of Lula and Sidney DeLoach. She was a member of Berney Points Baptist Church and a member of the Deborah Sunday School Class. She died on Sept. 7, 2000. survivors include her son, R. Byron Driver, Huntsville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Driver.

Driver of Clanton, Daughter, Mrs. W.W. Williams, of Montgomery, 3 Brothers, J. W. Gray of Brent, A. C. Gray of Elmore, S.L. Gray of Clanton, 1 Sister, Mrs. Mattie Middlebrooks of Fitzpatrick, Ala. She was the Daughter of the Late German Berry and Martha Artum Ray Gray of Coopers.

Funeral Services for Thelma L. Driver, 95, Verbena, will be held at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Derek Deavers officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Driver was born on Feb. 25, 1907, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Frank Todd and the late Molly Todd. She was a homemaker. She died on March 12, 2002, at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. Survivors include one son, Jimmy Driver, Roanoke; Faye Jones, Verbena; one brother, Charles Todd, Birmingham; one sister Margie Turpin, Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren, Keith Greg, Pam Driver, Kathy Acton, Steve Jones, Kim Sledge; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom O. Driver; one son, Odis Driver, and one daughter, Louise Driver.

Mr. William D. Driver, age 62, died at Clanton Hospital last Sat. night of heart trouble. Burial was at Concord. His Children were Oliver Driver, Sewell Driver, Luther Driver, Mrs. Archie Mims, and Mrs. Rueben E. Wyatt.

Duke, Joseph Addis

Funeral services for Joseph Addis Duke, 87, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Payton officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Duke was born on Jan. 25, 1914, in Alabama, the son of the late G. R. Duke and the late Lula Belle Duke. He was a farmer and served in the Air Force. He died on Dec. 9, 2001, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. Survivors include one daughter, Janette Duke Hawkins, Clanton; one son, Bobby Duke, Panama City; 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Nora Duke.

She was a homemaker. She died on Sept. 15, 1999, in Shelby Medical Center. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Addis Duke, Clanton; one son, Marvin R. "Buddy" Vines, Jr., Clanton; two daughters, Myra V. Meacham, Montgomery, and Mary Linda V. Jones, Florence; one brother, Olice Gray, Birmingham; three sisters Ruth Tanner, Birmingham, Alpha Mae Driver, Decatur, and Coleen Traywick, Stockbridge, Ga.; one step-son, Bobby Duke; one step-daughter, Jeanette Hawkins, Selmer, Tenn.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 21 Step Great-grandchildren.

E.J. Dunn, age 62, shot himself in Montgomery. He is survived by 2 Daughters, 1 Son, 2 Brothers, and 1 Sister. His Sister is Mrs. Sally J. Kicker, (Mrs. N.A. Kicker) of Clanton.

Justin A. Dupree, 66, of Montgomery, died December 30, 1978, in Montgomery. Survivors include one step-daughter, Mrs. Joan Carter, Stockbridge, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Chapman, Mrs. Lillie Mae Jones, both of Coopers, and Mrs. Ennis Duke, Clanton; three half-sisters, Mrs. Tommie Jones, Talladega, Mrs. Jane Duke, Birmingham, and Mrs. Dean Edwards, Selma; 2 grandchidlren. Funeral services were held January 1, 1979, 11 a.m. at Sarber Chapel with interment in Chestnut Creek Cemetery. Rev. Paul Hickman was officiating minister. Sarber-Chilton County Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Delmar Gore, Stuart Arnold, Curtis Tindal, Jimbo Carter, John Beutler and Ken Jones.

Mrs. Mabel Inez Durbin, age 39, Wife of Rev. Davis Durbin died at her home in West End Clanton last Wednesday. Burial was at Liberty Hill Cemetery. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Davenport. She is survived by her Husband, Rev.H.D. Durbin, two Daughters, Delene and Irma Durbin.

Mr. Fulton N. Duren, age 84, passed away Wednesday morning, December 27, at 10 o'clock at his residence at Jemison Route 2. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Mars Hill conducted by Rev. W. P. Lowery. Interment was in the Church cemetery with Spigener Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by one son, E. D. Duren of Clanton; eight daughters, Mrs. Eva Lowery, Mrs. Letchie Childers, Mrs. Vonnie Wilke, Mrs. Essie Martin of Jemison, Mrs. Eula Mims, Mrs. Sennie Smitherson, Mrs. Ross Sims, Mrs. Dona Allen of Sylacauga; one half-sister, Mrs. Jennie Miles of Georgia. Grandsons acted as pallbearers.
Mr. Fulton N. Duren, age 84, died Dec. 26, burial was at Mars Hill. He married Miss Lizzie Abbot in 1879, and she has been dead for 27 years. He is survived by 1 Son, and 8 Daughters.

Burial was in Midway Cemetery in Verbena with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Duren was born Sept 4, 1914, to the late Edgar and Fannie Mae Duren. He was a retired baggage handler of Eastern Airlines. He died Oct. 11, 1997 at his residence in Jemison. He is survived by his wife, Levonia Duren of Jemison, two sons: Billy W. Duren of Memphis, Tenn., and Rondall Duren of Alabama; two brothers: James Tyler Duren and Gene Duren, both of Clanton; three sisters: Linnis Medlock, Eula Faye Ramey and Rena Mae Marcus, all of Clanton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Duren was born in Chilton County on June 4, 1920 to the late Jasper Edwards, Sr. and Elizabeth Popwell Edwards. She died in Clanton on June 19, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fulton "Snooks" Duren, and a son, Ray Duren. She is survived by a son, Douglas Duren, Clanton; a grandson and a granddaughter, Duane Duren Mims, Clanton; Melanie Duren Elliott, Birmingham; three brothers and two sisters, Sam Edwards, Clanton; Jasper Edwards, Jr., Prattville; James M. Edwards, Selma; Alice Mims, Montgomery; Leola Milford, Alex City.

He is survived by his Wife, 3 Sons, Marion A. Dykes, Frank Dykes, and David Eugene Dykes, 2 Daughters, Nellie Mayes Dykes, and Annie Myrtle Dykes, 2 Brothers Sam of Birmingham, and Will of Clanton, 1 Half-Brother, Ernest Wyatt of Texas, 3 Sisters, Mrs. M.M. Gray, Mrs. T.E. Gray and Mrs. M. Venslove. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery of Oneonta, Ala. He was the Son of Late Elder and Mrs. Joshua Marion Dykes, Jr. of The County.
